@@dankmetalmemes just take the thickest pick you've got and rip over the strings as hard and fast as you can while hitting random notes with you left hand also as fast as you can. Don't bother practicing with metronome since the best practice speed is always as fast as you can.

Auditioned a bass player another time for a death metal band. He brought a 10 or 15 watt practice amp that was supposedly “really loud”, no tuner, 1000 year old strings. Broke a string first song, declined to learn the riffs, headbanged really hard though. “Thanks, bye.”

I've owned a guitar for like 30-years. I can play about 15-seconds of a lot of different song, perhaps 2-songs all the way through (all badly), and I don't even think MY first band audition would be that bad.
