It's always a privilege to watch and learn from your reviews. I've ordered two of these bibles. Fantastic price for such a wonderful bible. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into the reviews. God Bless you and your work from Tasmania.
Dear Dr Dan, thank you so much for this review. I am thinking of getting the CSB Baker illustrated study bible for all the reasons you explain, but l hesitate in my mind because l already have a number of study bibles. I do not expect you to advise but just wanted to say how much l enjoy listening and learning from you in the UK.
Thank you! We are so privileged to have so many good resources to keep us engaged with the text! As you've identified, the issue is how to work all those Bibles into our workflow? There is only so much shelf space. :-)
@Bible on the Go with Dr. Dan ~ I must agree with you on this fabulous Study Bible. I love it too! It has become one of my Favorites. I purchased this one about the same time as the NLT Illustrated Study Bible and that one is awesome too! The NLT is loaded with Illustrations. However, the Baker Illustrated Study Bible (CSB) that you are reviewing here is so inviting for some reason (that I can't quite figure out). Maybe it is the lay~out 💁🏽 I have the navy blue one with the two navy blue ribbons. It is a chunky monkey and so is the NLT Illustrated Study Bible. I got both for a great price ~ which was almost unbelievable for the wealth of information. I enjoyed your Review! 🤗🌺
@@BibleontheGo I use all three, but only Olive Tree has this particular Study Bible. I like that you click on an image and Olive Tree enlarges the image. Great for screencast during Sunday class.
Given that this Bible is out-of-print, scarcity has caused the price to jump to around $700 on eBay. Earlier this week, I reached out to Baker Publishing and they told me there are no olans to bring back this Bible.
I want to share with everyone something that I have discovered a while ago during my journey with Christ. Let me first preface this by saying a few things..... This may sound a bit offensive to some at first. I hope not, but it might. I say that because I too took offense when someone first mentioned this to me. Please reserve judgment for a bit and let me explain. It has to do with Bible translations. When I first began my walk with Christ, I was perplexed with the MANY different translations. I eventually settled on the NASB. It is the translation that a very well known and respected Pastor that I follow uses at his church, and one that is supposed to be among the “most literal translations”. Sounded good enough for me, so thats what I began using as my “go-to”. I also chose to compliment that with a NIV study Bible and a NKJV study Bible...... Now..... Fast forward a bit. One day I came across someone in my travels, and the topic of Bible translations came up. I quickly discovered that he was a member of the “dreaded” “King James Only” group. I had never come across this group before, and it honestly seemed a bit cultish to me at first. He began to tell me how all the “modern translations” had been corrupted and altered, and that the ONLY pure and true English translation was the King James. My response to him was something along the lines of..... “That’s ridiculous! There are a lot of legitimate translations. Many of them just have updated language that make it easier for a modern reader to understand” He went on to explain how even my beloved NASB and NIV (and many others) had been corrupted by unscrupulous translators and so forth. He continued, and said that even the New King James has been altered, and has dangerously changed Gods Truth. Ok..... So now I’m thinking that this guy must be crazy....... But I thought about it for a while. I then purposed in my heart that I wanted, above all else, the TRUTH. If what he was saying to me was actually true, I wanted to know about it, and it was worth the time it took me to find out! I decided to do some research on this topic. The short answer to what I discovered is that he was, in fact, CORRECT! There is a lot of VERY compelling evidence that the modern translations are, in part, corrupt and HAVE BEEN altered in a way that absolutely DOES NOT honor God, specifically attacking the Deity of Jesus Christ, His sinless perfection, The Trinity, and many other critical areas of Christian doctrine. To quote Matthew 13:28 “an enemy hath done this” Now I’m not going to try to convince you of this. But I do want to DESPERATELY URGE you to diligently take the time to look into this. Don’t brush this off as I almost did! Purpose it in your heart to seek Gods truth in this matter, no matter where it takes you! I promise you, it WILL BE worth it! I STRONGLY urge you to get and read the book “51 Reasons Why The King James: A Path From Doubt To Faith” by David W. Daniels. Seriously, everyone needs to read this book!!! It’s only $4.99 for the Kindle version on Amazon! About $17 with shipping if you want the paperback. **Also, MUST READ “New Age Bible Versions: An Exhaustive Documentation of the Message, Men & Manuscripts Moving Mankind to the Antichrist's One World Religion “ by G. A. Riplinger. ** It WILL change your mind!!!!! These books offer TONS of COMPELLING evidence to the King James Only stance! I can now say, without reservation, I am unapologetically a member of the King James Only group. After seeing the evidence in favor of that position, I can’t in good conscience go back. I just can’t. At times, I literally felt sick to my stomach as I saw how some passages of the modern translations have been altered, and the implications that those changes have. In the same way that when I came to know Christ, I felt compelled to tell others about the gospel, I now feel absolutely compelled to share this information with my brothers and sisters in Christ. This is SO IMPORTANT because there is SO MUCH error in people’s theology and it is being perpetuated by CORRUPT translations. On a side note, I used to think the King James was difficult to read. It absolutely is not! It’s beautiful, and I have never felt closer to Jesus during my Bible time, then I do while reading from The King James! Kindly consider my words. I hope this reaches each of you well! It WILL change your mind!!!!!
Hey Dan, do you have another video explaining why you like the CSB translation so much? What translation did you use before the CSB and why did you switch? I have so many Bibles and translations (including this one you’re reviewing) but I’m trying to decide which translation to make my main one this coming year. God Bless and thank you for your review sir!
@@BibleontheGo i just watched both videos and they really helped. Thank you. By the way, have you ever checked the NLT illustrated Bible? I have that one too.
Media res. Its in the middle between literal translation and dynamic translation. It tries to combine the best of both and come up something accurate and readable. There will always be new translations of foreign languages because improvements can be made in how they’re rendered into English.
I'm curious what this Bible has to say about John chapter 5. Specifically, the part where the Pharisees couldn't hear the voice of the father tell them that Jesus was the Christ because they were too busy diligently studying the scriptures to listen.
Great question. The NLT Illustrated has, I think a few better tables and graphics. If I'm not mistaken, the Baker is a bit heavier than the NLT Illustrated
'Bible Study' is like studying 'Alice in Wonderland' and thinking that you are gaining insight into some other realm that is real and not just a fantasy. And that is profoundly delusional.
Your opinion is based upon the presupposition that the Bible is false. So, let’s suppose the Bible is false. Studying the Bible is studying a collection of ancient documents consisting of different genres, written by different authors, and written over thousands of years. Throughout these texts, there are references to historical people, places, and events. Comparing such a vast collection of texts with “Alice in Wonderland” is a false equivalency. Also: You didn’t give any reasons for why you believe the Bible is false. Therefore you commit the fallacies of presumption and assumption.
I would say that it is profoundly delusional for one to compare a hefty collection of historical texts, which include and assume certain undeniable facts, and compare it’s historicity with a single tale that is completely and utterly fictional (except for the inspiration of the name “Alice.”)
Its amazing Baker Illustrated Its one of my favorite Bibles and translation & the CSB study Bible is amazing awell I Love it ❤❤

Great review- why this bible is so ( whispering.. inexpensive) is even better.
Thank you!
Nowadays, due to scarcity, it is around $700 on eBay.
Hello, Dr Dan and thank you. A brief question: does the Book of Romans have a heavy Calvinist approach? 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Hi Brenda, Calvinists certainly think so. They focus primarily on chapter 9. That's the short answer anyway.
@11:36 Jerusalem Temple with events from the book of Acts! In the New Testament! The Temple in the book of Acts! 😂 SOLD
Is there anywhere that you wanna know of that I can order this Bible? I’ve been looking for it for weeks.🙋🏾♀️👍🏽✅
So sorry, I've been loooking too, but its out of print, I assume ebay and abe books might one day have it.
