I sympathized with the human in this film. A computerized world is attempting to transform a human into a machine. Humans are scattered and unreliable, but something about them is endearing, as compared to an emotionless machine. Very well done film.

I am so pleased to see the short story creators following the reality of the world we live in with clear visions of our possible future. A warning to those who can not see through the lens of common sense that what is possible in fiction, usually becomes reality.

Fortunately, we are (probably) a long ways from an sentient AI. However there is a very real probability of intentionally malicious AI. It is already possible and people are easily more evil than machines.

It's a theme that has been done (kinda) before. Dan Simmons used humans as processing power (ergo the computes) for AI in his Hyperion Cantos.
Total science fiction, super advanced civilization. ... the humans in the series had it pretty darn good.
Kudos, this was so good! I despise the avenues cinematic, "big box" ($$$$$) sci fi has taken in recent years... CGI effects and explosions, endless gratuitous violence, and mindless plots. I have always enjoyed sci-fi because it was imaginative and cerebral, and this was just what I was missing! Absolutely engaging, entertaining, and thought provoking, with a wry chuckle to complete the enjoyment! Thank you!

Anyone with a cell phone, computer type instrument, plus a credit card is an incorporeal data vessel within the evolving nature of cyberspace...no changing this ever. Present day AI systems have no conscious awareness of this, but the very human controllers of AI can be very manipulative & often are, especially in the commercial/profit regions of AI. The almighty dollar still wins at the end of the day which it has done since it first appeared & will continue to do. ...Personally, I've lived under this type of influence/manipulation for nearly 64 years...commercial advertising in the media has formed & reformed people a billion times...all that's happening right now is basically the same game just slicker, quicker, creating a much more cash-happy retailer experience where consumers keep spending more & more & more!

Damn funny. And also just, damn, that was good. Low production values (did the best with what you had) don’t mean low quality film, there was truly well-built tension in that story. Great all around, and I absolutely loved the car windows going down bc the poor schmuck is smoking.

Enjoyed it. Having AIs take over and manage us into an Orwellian hellscape has been a popular SF theme for many decades. But, if you end up like Adam you better not make a point to give your AI overlord a pile of resentful crap every time it tries to coax you into following it's program. Right or wrong, highly sophisticated AIs can likely get fed up just like humans.

You're right. I actually did research some of his interviews to build this world. Him and a bunch of other technocrats of course.
Zuckerberg has never once been invited to even see a pamphlet that would be designed for elementary school students on the true provocative nature of legitimate scientific explorations constantly being envisioned, tested, created at a very select few locations in this world. Zuckerberg is social media figurehead, businessman, hires human brain boxes smarter than himself, throws out a few superficial socially influencing productions, & the crowds swoon in his glowing financial success. Legitimate scientists who are earnestly working at restructuring the foundations of technology hear bits of gossip about him, which is irrelevant to them, quickly dismissed.
In 20 years when you hear that a computer will take over a prison and you know someone is messing up and could end up there send them this short.

What a Crazy Surprise for ME! Namely, aside from this possible scenario, well acted and directed btw, is that I immediately recognized the Warren Town Hall and location from childhood memories of being there back in the early 60's, maybe earlier..lol!! At first I was thinking it was in Maine, or Pa, but then remembered to check N.H. which this is the area I grew up in also before moving to Maine. Now !icing the past 30 yrs herd in Iowa....my how time flies!! Anyway, this was a Special, uncommon treat twice..! I don't remember the rocket though...have to check that out.

When the AI mentions Warren that's the real history of the town. And the map at the end when he is walking down the street is the real map. Had to show them as much love as I could.
