just watched it recently and a video explaining it too, all I can say is that it's indeed a masterpiece that encapsulated Oshii's turmoil about his faith and his doubt. I'll probably have to rewatch it a few more time before getting all the symbolics but it can be interpretated in so many ways with different theories, from a pessimistic view, an atheist view, or a believer view, especially about the ending. it has few dialogues and focus on visuals mostly, and that's what I found masterful, to send a message and state of mind with almost so little and no real plot.

this movie is a symbolism if the creator loosing his faith in religion, the egg symbolises the aforementioned faith and the little girl representing his childness arrogance and happiness. by braking the egg he demonstrated that it was empty , an empty faith, with out evidence, the girl commiting suicide is his own childness and arrogance behing ripped away from him, and with them his happiness, as the creater of the movie was left after he lost his faith deeply depressed.

@@free_4rm its actually an indie video game! I highly recommend it if you enjoy platformers at all. Very Gothic ambience with fun boss fights and a good level of difficulty.

the part where he tells the story of noah's ark, but the dove never brings sign of land... that thing at the end is noah's ark... they were on it the whole time... they had grown old and forgot.

I have a feeling that Hideo Kojima used this movie as inspiration for Death Stranding.
As Sam carries BB like the girl with a baby.
Mads Mikkelson is soldier. Both have interesting in main character and stalk him/her.
ghosts of fisherman fighting with harpoons.

honestly looking back it does feel very creepy like she’s getting stalked by a dude the whole movie and she’s a little girl but looks pregnant lol it’s actually very scary

also when i first watched it i just liked the vibe cause i was sad and fell asleep in the dark with it on but woke up to the part where she was screaming bloody murder after he smashed it and felt shell shocked for a sec 😂

Thank you bro it is a weird ass movie but also extremely good because you view it so many different ways. The fact there’s really no dialogue and the vibes and scenery and character expressions tell the story. Shiiiiid I really wanna watch it again now 😂
