Great job on the boss! So many players of this game fail to understand the satisfaction of beating a boss by going through the painful process of dying over and over and learning to master things like dodge rolling and boss attacks. You do a fantastic job of showing how it should be done...thanks and keep up the great work.
Nothing quite like getting that last stagger, knowing it'll finish the boss, quickly thinking to yourself "don't you daaaare fuck this up," carefully positioning for the kill ("carefully... CAREFULLY..."), and then blammo! GG! Great fight!
I can respect the stance of "no extra summons" but sometimes it might be a cool story thing, not like DS2 where it was mandatory but just a cool detail. Like Rogier was the summon for Margit, so you were both trying to break into the castle. And on the Stormveil castle exploration, its a massive open area with different way of traversing...and you might have gone in a not so straight forward way, thats why you might have felt like it was a stretch.
Yeah whenever I fight a boss and an NPC summon is an option I just set aside one throwaway attempt where I summon just to see if there's any voicelines, do it for the lore, or to just see their moveset. It's always fun to see how the NPCs can fight
Summoning is a much more integral part of ER than it was in other Souls games. It is intended that summons be used because it just gets overwhelming and repetitive without them. Why grind through areas unnecessarily? Plus, as has been said, it sometimes advances NPC stories.
Actually scared of the wind and jumping at shadows! 🤣 Glad to see you remembered Unsheath. Not sure if you even used it since defeating Margit? Hopefully I can stop yelling at my TV for now. 😅 "My butt was getting sore from an hour's worth of failed attempts.".... 🤨 Phrasing? 😝 GG on Godrick! A very memorable fight. 👍
I've been loving every video of this playthrough and wanted to share something that I've gotten a lot of mileage out of, and if maybe you want to try it out you might as well. I equipped my Crimson and Cerulean Flasks to my Pouch's left and right slots. (Hold triangle+ left and right) This improved my gameplay significantly as it made using items in the D-pad Down slots much more accessible during combat and always being able to use either flask without fumbling. 👍
Great tip! Thanks for the videos...I like the commentary because you share your thought process as you figure out the game...well done. Another tip for those of you who like to experiment, make the weapon skill R1 (ps4)...this button reacts faster!! Either way, keep up the great work Achenar!
First of all, never considered popping a gold pickled fowl foot like that after killing a boss while they're giving their dying monologue. Love that idea. Second, I like how you made use of your consumables after a number of attempts. I think they can tend to be forgotten or intentionally disregarded, but the game provides them for a reason-don’t think they expect you to raw dog the more challenging fights. On spirit ashes, glad you finally discovered their use! They can be polarizing, some people prefer to completely avoid using them for the extra challenge, which I totally understand in boss fights, but I personally don’t think there’s any shame in making use of them in difficult-to-traverse areas filled with annoying enemies, like you did in the courtyard with the birds and big guy. GG beating Godrick in under 10!
haha yea I'd like to think I'm better than I used to be when it comes to actually using consumables, instead of letting them rot in your bag until the final boss. Still not great at it, but definitely improved. Thanks for the GGs!
I feel the same way about summons, I think absolutely ZERO shame for using them, they're really cool and it's given to you in the game for a reason. However, for me personally, I feel more of an achievement when I don't use summons. When I fought the Red Wolf and Rennala, I used summons and the summon would just destroy the boss before I could even see what movesets they had; that's kinda when I decided to not use them. However, I always pull out summons for any repeat boss just for the fun of it
@@PLP4207 i said for ME it feels that way. U dont gotta agree, its just a tool that u can use if i want, but I’ll tell you why it feels like that for ME. imo using summons makes the game way too easy, i mean with summons, especially mimic or tiche, i can first or second try most bosses. That’s boring and I’m not playing this game ti have it be super easy. It’s the same as other games where u can pick the difficulty setting, i like playing on hard or challenging, summons put it at easy difficulty for me. I don’t enjoy that. I feel more of an achievement when it’s challenging. Others feel different and that’s fine
@@PLP4207 you’re not “missing out” lmao. Do u use every crafting item? Do you use all the pickled shits and the turtle necks and the throwing pots? Do you use the throwing darts? Do you use bows and crossbows, greatswords and colossal swords along with spells and incantations? Have you run a build for every single stat class in the game? Have you utilized bleed but also poison and sleep and frenzy status effects? Because if you haven’t done every single one of those then based on your logic you’re “missing out” as well and haven’t really played the game properly. The reason all these things are part of the game is because they are optional tools and playstyles they give you to play how you want. You dont have to use magic, you can play physical only. Or you can never touch a sword and only run spells/incantations. You don’t have to use craftables but you definitely can, and choose how many/which u want to use. You don’t need to use NPC summons/spirits but you ofc can to make the game easier if it’s too difficult. They give it to you the ability to adjust the difficulty at your own pace and choices. Its not a necessary part of the game, it’s there as a difficulty setting. Instead of putting “easy, medium, hard, extreme” they give you “blas blade/rob/comet azur, summons, no summons, no spells” etc. The point is to allow you to adjust game difficulty, not for it to be a part of the game u must utilize. Summons were never part of previous dark souls games, they were only added here to make the game more accessible for new players who don’t want/can’t handle that difficulty. Which is fine. It’s good in fact, great even. Its an option
@@hdudhehdhd2222 yes! I have used EVERY "option" available, that's what the game is for. It may be like dark souls BUT it is NOT a dark souls, it's open world. Just try to use it ALL and see what happens, what is so bad about just having an easy going fun time? If you take video games so seriously, then you should reconsider your path of life. Just my opinion. I understand that you are most likely a die hard ds gamer, but Elden Ring is not supposed to be challenging ANY way you play it, it's for FUN!
1:38:10 - The aggravation of inflation. Feels like bait and switch, doesn't it. Oh, the plethora of names beginning with G, R, and M in this game. As in George R R Martin. Perhaps a wee bit narcissistic. Nice victory over Godrick in the end, well-executed, nice to see you putting consumables to smart use. I hope you will try out the fire grease sometime soon if you have not yet. The gold pickled fowl foot gives you an extra 30% runes, well worth using for big fights.
Oh man, what a great reaction to Godrick and the dragon head 😂. Bear witness! POSSIBLE SPOILER FOR ACHENAR: 22:50 hmmm I've never gotten that item there. I wonder what triggers the difference in that questline. Anyone know?
MINOR STORYLINE SPOILERS: . . . . . . If we visit the pile of guts with dogs under the inverted troll before Roderika leaves Stormhill Shack, we will instead find the Chrysalids Memento where we later can get her red hood. If we take the Memento to her at the shack, she weeps at hearing echoes from the spirits of her grafted men through the Memento and then says she thinks she will go to Roundtable Hold and see if she can find some purpose there, which is why Hewg starts with, "The girl you sent here..." If we venture into Liurnia, it triggers Roderika to move to Roundtable Hold no matter how far into Stormveil Castle we have ventured so far. Killing the Grafted Scion is the other way to trigger her move, as I recall. She either gives us the Golden Seed at the Roundtable, thanking us for giving her the Memento, or just leaves it where she was in the shack if we have not given her the Memento by the time she moves. Her red hood shows up on the guts pile in the same spot as the Memento once she has left the shack, and I think it means to show she visited her men there and left it there as tribute in their honor. How she is supposed to have waltzed into and out of the dangerous castle is beyond me, but the game doesn't bother with such logical details at times, does it. It is more concerned with telling a story. It's a convoluted little plot line I think few people actually wind up playing out in the way the storyline most intends for us to experience it. None of this affects us getting the golden seed or Roderika's questline either way. It all just adds more flavor and story, and helps make more sense for how Roderika winds up at the Hold and why her hood ultimately shows up in Stormveil Castle.
@@synergy67 I just never knew that she would leave like that. I'd only ever gotten the momento. This raises even more questions for me about what the Round Table Hold actually is...
@@TSpoon823 One thing we can deduce from the info on the hood is that Roderika is expatriated nobility, which explains her style of speaking and use of multisyllabic words. She was high bred at one point but got pushed out as some kind of undesirable for some reason.

Well done for the victory and adhering to the “no summons” code. In my humble opinion, the reward is much greater when you pull it off solo.
I totally don't shame anyone for using summons if that's what's fun for them. I just enjoy the game more without (first time through at least).
I agree wholeheartedly
