  • A free Día de los Muertos celebration is being held in downtown L.A. from October 26-27.
The immersive cultural event will feature special live performances by the all-female mariachi group, Mariachi Las Catrinas, on Saturday, Oct. 26, and Sunday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the 8th & San Pedro Street median near the L.A. Flower District.
An altar will be on display from October 25 to November 2. The altar serves as a collective space to honor deceased loved ones, with candles and cempasúchil (orange marigolds) provided to enhance the altar’s traditional beauty.
“We are incredibly proud and excited to bring this Día de los Muertos celebration to the heart of the LA Fashion District, where so many in our community share a deep connection to this holiday,” said Anthony Rodrigue, President & CEO of the LA Fashion District BID. “Mariachi music and the traditions of Día de los Muertos are woven into the cultural fabric of our neighborhood, and this special event offers a unique opportunity for everyone-whether they’re part of the Hispanic community or simply want to experience the richness of this holiday-to come together, celebrate life, and honor those we have lost. We invite everyone to join us for this free, vibrant celebration.”
