My wife and I have done the exact same trip for Dia de Los Muertos from Mexico City to Morelia and the surrounding towns. We also did the overnight tour to many of the towns. What a fantastic trip and very memorable. You captured the atmosphere very well. Thanks for the memory. Saludos!
My boyfriend is obsessed with Japanese culture. If we get our passports in time, we will be in Tokyo this November. Im obsessed with Mexican culture, and next year I hope I can visit Mexico!

my family celebrates this tradition with our grandparents who were frequent travelers to mexico, they were even welcomed in by a mexican family, they would hook their airstream up and travel across the boarder to this families house and park their trailer, so naturally my granny would wear mexican dresses around her house, every nov 1 my mom my aunt, dad and uncle would go to their graves and put down flowers for them
Hi Matt and Karla. Thank you for bringing us along for Festivities. I like watching "Coco". What was the Bond movie? Stay safe and keep the Adventures coming.

Thank you guys for the video! I'm planning to visit Mexico for el día de muertos and it was really helpful and interesting for me 😊 I would like to ask you, if you rent a car to visit the different places o do you recommend to go with the bus/Uber.
@@notdisturb We had a car so I think it works. Just be mindful that it can be quite busy and the highways quite full. The nice thing about a tour is not worrying about that stuff but the bad part is then you have to go where they go and might not have the time you want

We eat, all the dishes, fruits and drinks are our meals after "día de muertos" but... Trust me, there aren't flavor in them... Is like if their favor were steal, their "soul" has gone... If you know what I mean... They come to home.
It's very similar to Vietnamese culture where we gather and eat when a beloved one has passed. The offering as well. We burn money for them to spend in the underworld. We also have an alter for our ancestor and burn incense and offer fruits.
Beautiful video but i don't think due to the movie. The movie Coco shows only part of the tradition and the main purpose of the celebration is to honor the lovely memories of our family members 😍 and is more than a 100 years old. Thanks for sharing! 😃😃😃
I grew up in Mexico and the day of that dead is not this parade like they did in the movies. Is a religious holiday and also a Native American tradition in Mexico mixed with Christian tradition
Please dont forget the Michoacan forest is being deforested at an alarming rate, if u have a way to help the efforts of saving the fiorest, please help!
Thank you for sharing. Great coverage! While this tradition is a touching sentiment for people to remember their loved ones who died, all who die remain asleep in death, unconscious to time and place, until called forth by Jesus Christ at the first or second resurrection (Ecclesiastes 9, John 5, Revelation 20).

You’re welcome. We’d certainly like to go back
There was no parade in Mexico city until James Bond 2015. The mayor decided to copy it

Hmm for the same area?
yes, same area. I'm thinking of staying in Morelia and visiting the nearby towns.

Someone there also offered us a private taxi for an entire day but it was like $150-ish. Still might be the same as a car
@@MustDoCanada thank you!!
what date was this held in Mexico City?
Well, Day of the Dead is Nov 1-2, so it depends what days that falls on. This one was a few days before leading up to Day of the Dead.
@@MustDoCanada I read it was on the 22nd this year it will be held on the 23rd
@@jhb9254 perhaps yes. Mexico City does do it earlier as the more “spiritual” event is Nov 1-2
Dia de Muertos!

What happens to the food offerings? Is it allowed to eat them afterwards, or is that disrespectful?
Not sure. Will need to ask. I'd imagine most of it just goes bad

The celebration is old. It’s the parade in mexico city that was inspired by the movie. It didn’t exist before.
I grew up in Mexico and the day of that dead is not this parade like they did in the movies. Is a religious holiday and also a Native American tradition in Mexico mixed with Christian tradition

Not sure what you're referring to. Where?
Who got this as vid as Spanish Homework, anyway I hope it’s good
haha what class?

It doesn't surpise us. So much corruption sadly
All the food and people, where do you go to the toilet?
They have portable washrooms
what is keeping them from celebrating the day of the living?
You'll have to explain more as I'm not sure what you're talking about. There's lots of festivals throughout the year
You need to go out more.
You start the holiday in your country

Yuck to celebrating the dead, sorry...and on that note, if one dies the soul goes to heaven or hell.
Well no, that's just what you believe in. I don't believe in that at all. But why not celebrate your loved ones. It's amazing
La muerte no se celebra. Se celebra y recuerda a los seres amados que ya han ido al mundo de los muertos.
Yuck your comment.
Yuck your ignorance about this celebrate firts lear about culture!!!
