Some people that didnt read Dune are saying in the trailer's comments that It looks generic...It pisses me off so much because OF COURSE seems like something you watched before... Because Dune INSPIRED all those movies.
I like while Oscar and Rebecca be like "If this one went good, we might get Dune Part 2." Josh and Denis are just "Yeah, there will be Dune Part 2 for sure." (which it had just been announced)
I'm gonna be captain obvious, but the strongest point of this movie is the perfect cast. Every single actor does a perfect job and embodies their character. And they have amazing chemistry together.
regarding "you scrub your ass with sand" - this line is from a chapter early in the book after the hunter seeker attack where Duke Leto is walking among the men, telling Gurney to try to convince some of the outgoing spice workers to stay, etc. it is also the chapter that repeats the line "they have tried to take the life of my son" as a refrain (which also made it into the movie) and also includes Gurney's (attributed) quote of "my lungs taste the air of time blown past falling sands" (which also made it into the movie). I have read all 6 dune books probably 10 or 20 times each and the way Denis integrated the source material was 10/10. Obviously you can't include everything (the dinner scene, the conservatory, the OC bible that Yueh gives to Paul, etc etc etc) but I was impressed by how much of the book he did manage to fit in, often verbatim. incredible movie. can't wait for part 2
In the book, some guys are talking and one of them say "to shower, you scrub your @$$ with sand". As soon as the duke comes in, they stop talking on the spot.
Saw the movie this afternoon. Very entertaining. Great cinematography. Personally, I thought Momoa and Idaho character came across as very sympathetic and exuded great star quality. Very enjoyable.
It's the Atreides soldiers who are being flown in at the beginning of the movie. One guy goes 'Me for a hot shower and a soft bed.' Then one of his buddies says something like, 'Haven't you heard, stupid, when you're on Arrakis you scrub your ass with sand.'
These were the guys Gurney reffers to in the movie. As, in the book, they stopped chatting as soon as the duke walks near by, the duke hears it from Gurney.
Since scrubbing your ass with sand was in the book. I guess that this is something Denis put in the script and none of the actors got where it was from. I think it was Atreides soldiers talking amongst themselves, but I could see how it helped the flow of the movie to have Duncan say it.
Okay I'm sorry but they got Gurney wrong. He's way more colorful than just a grim stoic warrior. He should have watched Piccard's performance more closely.
Not to be mean but, honestly, people who don't have kids HATE IT when parent's bring their kids to the theater. Most children cannot sit still/quiet for very long and it ruins it for everyone else. Invest in a nice TV and enjoy all these movies with your kids at home. No disrespect. Seriously.
I just saw it and let me tell you the cinematography is incredible, story does feel it drags a little, could have been a great two hour movie in my opinion. Story is super complex tho, i feel casual fans would not understand the movie, i even see some leaving midway. I feel you must have some kind of understanding of Dune before seeing the movie.
I hate that line of thought. People are already getting stupider and lethargic for all kinds of reasons. No reason to further accelerate that by spoiling them with dumbed-down movies.
Well its all about money, no reason to make super complex movies if the majority of casual fans won't see it in my opinion. I'm super excited to see the box office numbers for Dune, i think it won't be what we expected
What did you think of Dune?
Loved it 10/10!
Fuckin' Legend! Epic larger than life Mythology!! It's a whole new page for the history of cinema after Dune.
A modern classic.
Great movie on the level of star wars, Lord of the rings, etc. Needs a second film badly, I hope they make enough money to justify filming 2nd one.
Masterpiece, need part 2 ASAP
Actually, the line about scrubing @$$ with sand IS ON the book!!! I've read it. Such an enjoyable reading... Best book ever!!!
I just read it last night (I’m reading the book for the first time before seeing the movie). It’s somewhere between perhaps pages 60 and 100.
I loved it swell. I m finishing the second book.
Some people that didnt read Dune are saying in the trailer's comments that It looks generic...It pisses me off so much because OF COURSE seems like something you watched before... Because Dune INSPIRED all those movies.
They are a minority tho. The majority loved the movie, that's why the announced the second part.
I'm going to see it on imax on friday, woooo!!
Man, Dune was better than the last Star Wars. The sci fi epic I really needed.
@kshamwhizzle Damn straight.
@kshamwhizzle As far as I m concerned,Star Wars should ve be remained as a trilogy but nooo.
saw this comment of yours somewhere else, but U R RIGHT!
they should totally release the gurney halleck song as a music video
I like while Oscar and Rebecca be like "If this one went good, we might get Dune Part 2."

(which it had just been announced)
"You scrub your a** with sand" is indeed in the book.
Yep, it was some Atreides soldiers joking around, until they notice that the Duke is there.
I'm gonna be captain obvious, but the strongest point of this movie is the perfect cast. Every single actor does a perfect job and embodies their character. And they have amazing chemistry together.
Good. Duncan starting shaved and growing his beard when he meets the fremen is perfect subtle visual storytelling

incredible movie. can't wait for part 2
Josh and Javier are so sweet - CAN'T WAIT FOR 2

Momoa came across as a typical idiot with nothing interesting to say.
Oscard Isaac was the best choice for Duke Leto, for sure.
Leto+Jessica, soulmates!! OTP
Please make the Part 2 3+ hour long :)
I want director's cut with Gurney singing and the dinner scene.

The scrubbing your ass with sand line is in chapter 5 for anyone curious
1:44 just realized this is a no country for old men reunion lmao
Oscar and Jason exchanging beard on and off screen'
DUNE BLEW ME AWAY
Damn i would love to hear that song part.
The answer to the one scene should be the Worm :)
Hah!
Before the fight scene He just saw the ending of GOT!
HAH!
7:59 That reaction by Oscar when Rebecca called herself selfish. I had a similar reaction too.
Why does she say that though? I didn't get the reference /genuine
I didn't catch the "i wanted to be a pilot" line until i saw this interview so definitely nothing that effected the viewing experience.
Okay I'm sorry but they got Gurney wrong. He's way more colorful than just a grim stoic warrior. He should have watched Piccard's performance more closely.
Casting was perfect. That is true.
Only boom boom dummies and over fans did not love this adaptation of Dune. The cast is utterly perfect. The movie was a masterclass in film making.
DUNE was written as a SINGLE large book. The publisher split it into book 1, book 2, and book 3. FYI.
it sucks so many good movies coming out from now to new year wish I could afford to take my kids to see them all
\

@@michaelqiu9722 Dune the book series is a complex story in their defense but I think they should of dumbed it down a little.
@@ricardochavez7905
Hell no they shouldn't. If they don't get it, oh well.
@@ricardochavez7905 They already omitted much info from the book.
Such a joke when he says everybody is so close to the description in the book lol.
You're a joke
Funny that the casting is one of two things that WASN'T _perfect_
Why do you think so
Jason needs to lose some weight
Wait, what?
You fat shaming bro?
Wtf, he ain't fat.
Literally fat shaming someone who is defined, proportioned and athletic as hell. Ahh the anonymity of the internet...
He is the fittest dude on the planet
