IOTA TALK: Divine Guidance | Rev. John A. Jillions

For almost forty years I’ve been interested in how people perceive God’s guidance. In the first century too, there was wide-ranging discussion of this topic, with insights that haven’t lost any of their freshness. Based on my recent book Divine Guidance: Lessons for Today From the World of Early Christianity (OUP), I will look at the range of attitudes that emerged in three thought-streams of that time: Greco-Roman, Jewish, and the apostle Paul, highlighting shared attitudes and differences. I’ll conclude by making some connections to divine guidance and discernment today.
