I worked in a high street bank for 36yrs - the only time I worked with a person who stole money - he would make his system freeze - which ment all cashiers working with him also had to reset their computers - internal auditors finally caught up with him-it was found he was withdrawing money from accounts of then deceased people - before the closing balance was transferred to the person who was the named inheritor. Auditors came in early one Monday morning - set up lights,camera & recording equipment - waited until he turned up for work - interviewed him under caution & after 3hours the police were called & took him away. The company did not take him to court ( made a decision they did not want the bad publicity) Before he came to work for us - he had worked for two other banks……’maybe’ he had been asked to leave those banks also !
