OMG. An actual surfing video that’s actually about surfing and not sone narcissist millennials wanting to see themselves onscreen. Serious thanks for making this and putting it up. This is perfect, mate. Cheers.
wow this is amazing... roughly 30 years ago I went there and stayed in the first surf camp on the Island. There was no airport and getting there involved a horrendous boat ride. We were only the second ever group to stay in the camp and got to go out exploring for new breaks. Stimpy's was in fact named by our group, as Red and Stimpy were big at the time. Good memories.
Past Tusaon there is Pesangan (Cemetery) and Daku. If you want a sneaky cloud 9 style break without the crowds there is Pansukian past Daku, its hard to see because it beaks below sea level
The left-hander in Pacifico is called Bigwish. Also, slightly north of Bigwish but still in Pacifico is the Bamboo Surf Break. It's a right-hander. 8 km north of Pacifico is Burgos, which has three breaks. 5 km north of Burgos is Tangbo Beach with two Surf breaks. Finally, about 2 km past Tangbo is Secret Spot, which is a great choice when there is too much onshore wind.
I met 2 Filipino pro surfers who stayed with us during the Ripcurl pro. They said their home town had around 12 world class waves and if one had a crew youd just drive to another wave and surf it by yourself. Said some of the breaks would just go unridden. They didnt get a lot of tourists so it was just the locals who surfed. Cant remember the name of his village. Got it written down somewhere. They said cloud 9 wasnt any better than they waves they surf.
Also Secret Spot / Secret Beach and paradise beach right next to it are good options for beginners/intermediate surfers (located in the south - 30min from GL)
Thinking of visiting for a month or two. Hate flying with boards as they always get damaged so considering just picking up a 2nd hand one when I get here and just giving it to a kid or someone who looks like they could do with a better board when I leave. Did anyone who travelled here see loads of 2nd hand boards for sale? Think it will be easy to find a good all rounder when here.
Perfect! That's what I'll do then - can't wait to go here, i've heard people go on holiday here and never leave, sounds like a plan! thanks for your help @@chrisk7118
To think, I remember when the first time this was is in surfer mag as a new discovery. Must of been 1984bor something like that. Kinda sad what a scene it is now. It was probably a nothing of a town until surfing came along. Does great for the economy there but I'm sure there are some that are not stoked on all the tourists. Promoting places for people to go is definitely not my style . But whatever 😢😊
Heading to the Philippines next month, is it worth visiting in may? I don’t need ideal conditions just enough swell to have fun as an intermediate surfer. Thanks and great video!
Thanks! I think the waves tend to get smaller from around May to September, but you should still be able to find some. I just checked the forecast and they have plenty of waves right now 👍
The waves in this guide were filmed during October and November. There aren't really any waves on the West coast of the Island that we know of. And the main surf spots on the East coast are typically offshore on NW to SW winds 👍
Book 2 nights. Then after the first night you will know if you want to extend or spend the first full day finding a better place.. Also rent a motorcycle right away
Hello! Can I ask for permission to allow me use some clips in this video for a class activity? Will use other account and will give proper credits. How do I not get a copyright claim?
Thanks Mate for this video ! Awesome job🙏🏻 I'm going to Siargao at the end of January and all month of Feb... Do you think the surf condition will be ok during this period? Thanks ;)
Overcrowded poor surf in Siargao, you would rather surf anywhere in the world with more interesting sightseeing and culture and culinary.... Stimpy more than 80 people on peak when like all Spots in this destination , crowd is never spread out know a day in Siargao sadly....
@@chrisk7118 Indo crowded I dont care in summer you have daily perfect offshore, with once a Week massive swell. Siargao is overcrowded like hello tubes for midgets, maximun 10 times per month and an offshore season of only Max 2 month. This is how to document a video. Very detailed period. Mad props to you guys! 🇵🇭 is so lovely as always
Thanks very much! Comments like these keep us motivated to make more videos 🤜🤛
I was a young surfer in the 80's. I plan to retire to Siargao, kayak, kite surf and surf the rest of my life, and play tennis in Cebu.

Great video for those of us wanting surf focused reconnaissance. Maraming salamat po.
Thanks for putting Philippines on the map! 🤙
Philippines is underrated
Day dreaming about visiting the Philippines!
Counting down the days till we come back to the Island. Me and my partner have decided that we will retire in Siargao. Love the people and the vibes.
Straight to the point and informative. Thank you
Great video. Excellent overview of this place. I hope you produce more content like this.
Thanks. Hoping to make some more videos soon!

Lots of things being traded on Siargao Facebook groups, second hand boards for sale all the time 👌

Great video only thing that wasn’t mentioned is the crowds, is it super busy ?
Sure is! And getting more crowded every day
So sick! 💯💯
Looks good & laid back - not as big or intense as Indonesia
Dude this is sick.
Thanks mate, appreciate it!
Cant wait to surf here someday
I have never gone surfing before. First time for everything.
Excellent video
Thanks!
on my way!!!
Hello! how are the waves in december? intermediate surfer, doesnt need anything big, just some swell (3-5 ft) to have fun.
Yes, I'm sure you will find some good intermediate waves at that time of year.
Nice waves down there!🌊
right-hander here ! thanks mate
Well made video 👏
Thanks guys! 🙏
Great guide, thanks
Thanks, glad it was helpful!
Really informative video, Thanks 👌
Thanks for watching! 👍
beautiful
Great content!
Thanks!
Goods and relaxing ❤
Where is the place in Siargao for beginners ? And also what about surf classes?
Best place for beginners is Jacking Horse. You can rent a board, and get a lesson from the guys on the beach 👍
@@global_zoo Okay thank you so much!

great video!!!!!!!
Hey, do you need a boat for most spots? Because that would kill my budget for a longer stay :D

Why
Are waves still good in February/March?
Is January a good month to go?
Well met, Sir.
Hello! May I ask permission to use your video for my school project? Tnx!
I’m planning a trip in January/February I’ve heard October and November are the best times to go but can you still score in Jan/feb
Hi there. I think they get plenty of swell there in Jan/Feb, but there's a high chance of onshore winds.
@@global_zoo where about is the go in Siargao for onshore days ???
@@JM-kg9bihead to the south side of the island near Dapa. Paradise beach and secret spot. Very busy around the high tide…
Hey! Any advice on where to stay on GL?
We stayed at a place called Villa Peray for about 2 months. It was reasonably priced, comfortable, and close to all the main surf spots.
I hear Kermits is good, and owner is Italian- great pizza there. I must admit never been though- need to get out there myself.
Book 2 nights. Then after the first night you will know if you want to extend or spend the first full day finding a better place..

Hi, please email info@globalzoo.co to discuss further. Thanks
I wanna move here after Bali 😂😂😂
Is it always crowded? 😕
I don’t think so. Seems ok so far. Some of the waves break or end on reef and only experts are out then 😅
No
Hi!
I'm from Siargao and I have been here my whole life.
Actually, there are less tourists here than in Boracay, which has Dozens of tourists.
No it's Normal
Do i need to speak spanish there or is english enough?
I don't think they really speak any Spanish anymore in this area. Everyone's English is very good there though 👍
Only the days of the week, numbers, household items are in Spanish still. Rest is English or the local Filipino. :)
Si si buuslee
Thanks Mate for this video ! Awesome job🙏🏻 I'm going to Siargao at the end of January and all month of Feb... Do you think the surf condition will be ok during this period? Thanks ;)
Thanks for watching! The wind is often onshore this time of year, but you might get a few offshore days. There should be plenty of waves anyway 👍
@@global_zoo Thanks a lot for your reply! Alright i'll see then ;) All the best!
You will be mainly surfing @ G1 where its offshore. its about 45min bike ride from General Luna. Get a bike and a guide if its your first time.
@@somtingwongwai7194 Thanks a lot for the tips 🙏🏻😎
What is the best month to surf with Advance Experience?
October until December 👍
And comes with hideous crowds breaks that never used to b surfed are now packed with people
Better than Trestles
Now its crowd 9. Siargao is heading to what happened to boracay. Uncontrolled over devolopment and polution.
Yep! Victim of its own success.
I Can see the locals getting attitude now too..
Really bad surf in february and march btw, and crowed.
