Any high quality model nerds, diecast or RC doesn't matter, reading this? I'm not a collector but i can sit and watch reviews like this forever and I really like the attention to details, how ever I always try to find models outdoing the others, but in this jungle it's impossible for someone like me that aren't familiar with the dussin's of manufacturers and thousands of models. I did visit this websites where a lot of models are review on a 0-100 point system. But you can't sort them by rank and I've been clicking around on model by model basis to look after a top rated model. The highest I've found was a 95%. Can anyone of you experts within this field recommend me any particular model that you think is top notch. also what brand is considered the best of the best? WSI? is there a top 3 you could share? Lastly, I can help by thinking that it has to exist some odd one out Japanese or a special tier made by some company that has a limited series or something that is completely over the top crazy detailed, using the latest techniques of everything to make a statement. I'm talking about some limited run of extremely beautiful models, using advance technology in every way to make a statement, like for example micro screen printing, just like banknotes micro text are printed used to print those small caution stickers around the vehicle and almost that detailed that you need to take a photo ans zoom in because you eyes can't make out the details. Are there any models like that? It would be crazy interesting for me to and I could watch reviews of a machine like that even if it was hours long! Any suggestions? Wow what a dream of a job to help research to find and put together a plan with a great model manufacturer and make a limited collectors run like that. I realize that I sound more nerdy than anyone of you collectors perhaps but this is great stuff! Please link me any recommendations of good reviews of excellent models! Thank you! Btw RC models like Scaleart or other models are also enjoyed, not simply diecast. Thanks guys and girls!
Regarding mining equipment in 1:50 I would say the 2 best manufacturers are WSI and NZG. Both are not perfect though, you can find a flaw in every company, depending on what you prioritize on a model. Regarding decals - they are very good on all of them, the difference there is more about the quanitiy than quality. Here is an overview on my experience about the most important producers - for the european market at least: - WSI (Nederlands) offers probably the highest level of detail and component quality and for a fair price as well, but their tracks have huge gaps when on pivot points and are always thin as the same ones are used on almost all of their models. Also the paint job can occasionally be a bit delicate at least on my Volvo EC950E (still one of my favorite models with the best bucket ever, next to the Liebherr 9150). - NZG (Germany) has the least amount of flaws, but tends to be overpriced (although I got all my models on a very good discount - a few years after release, for about 2/3 of the recommended retail price) and some of their small attachments like air-filters are often glued on in a slightly oblique way. The wheels on my Komatsu WA 1200 are a bit wonky attached as well, but it is still one of their best models and a highlight in every collection. - TMC (Nederlands) models always have a great amount of details and they manage to make likely the best excavator tracks on the market, but in a few cases the paint job is not perfect. They produce Hitachi models mostly. - Conrad (Germany) made some very good ultra size mining trucks (Liebherr T264 being the best of them and my favorite 1:50 model at the moment - I own the yellow version), but their tracks on excavators are all horrible. Sometimes components can be not perfectly in place. Hydraulic lines made of rubber are attached in a somewhat unrealistic way as well, although that might be nitpicking. - Diecast Masters (China) made some very nice and popular models, but they are lacking hydraulic details and their handrails are just so skew most of the time, also they use a pretty thick layer of paint. Boom and stick of excavators often show gaps, because each part is made from 2 seperated pieces of metal, either the left and the right side on older ones or a fill-in on the side opposite of the cabin - but they do have great tracks for the most part. Newer models tend to have more functions, like opening pannel doors, which thus far are sadly attached in a horrible skew way with very visible hinges. Since they own the CAT licence, you kinda pay a bit extra for that expensive fee when buying a model, because CAT is a lot more serious about making money through that licence than other mining equipment manufacturers. - First Gear (USA) does a very good job for a very fair price, it has more plastic parts than others though and some other flaws sometimes - the dump beds on the Komatsu ADTs for example are not level at all. One of their best models is the Komatsu HD605. - USK (China) belongs to Diecast Masters, quality might be a bit higher than DM or at least the same depending on the model, although they use cheaper components (handrails tend to be very straight but are plastic) - I really like those those Bell ADTs, they are very nice models even if their B45E is in reality a model of the B50E, which is strange. Packaging is not great though and even damaged the paint job a bit. - Univeral Hobbies (France) is the worst manufacturer from which I actually own at least one model, not just because of using resin instead of metal a lot, they even mess up poportions and other things as well, there is always something pretty skew on their models, which tend to be fairly cheap at least. - Tonkin (USA) was decent, but Diecast Masters took all their CAT models together with the licence (some of the best DM models still are the reworked Tonkin ones). - Motorart (Sweden) sometimes was ok, but has a lot of flaws as well - tracks and hydraulic lines are some of them. Dump bed on the Volvo A40 not being level and the articulated joint being shaky really lowered the quality of one of their best models for example. If you want almost perfection though you should buy a CCM model in 1:48 - their are very expensive though as their are not mass produced. And if money is not a problem at all go for the highes details possible and buy a tiny 1:87 CCM model. It is ridiculous how they manage to get that scale more detailed than most 1:50 products. CCM models also go up in price over the years and their stuff is quickly sold out most of the time, so you can buy them as an investment as well.
I could imagine that this updated version of the PR 776 is really great and detailed.
