I don't think anybody really understands the hard work the Tyler Perry has done people have looked at his Fountain before and made all these different types of criticism this is a man who walked in the Hollywood and they shut the door on him they didn't care and he took the little money that he had to start out with and build an entire Empire a whole entire Empire and some of the movies before were low budget but it wasn't about the budget it was about giving the actors that he put in those movies opportunity and speaking to the audience and he has spoken to the black community better than anybody else has ever had done it

I Saw the movie twice! The love story involving the characters Bayou and Leanne was beautifully presented. It reminded me of stories of forbidden love in classics such as Romeo & Juliet, Troilus & Cressida, and Tony & Maria of West Side Story 💕

Wonderful movie! Great idea to use actors We didn't know; very refreshing!!! This was an incredible movie, it was more than entertaining, it was truly inspirational and instructional. We take so much for granted about people and their experiences with pain. Never again will I assume people are in a good place because they look a certain way. Pain can take residence wherever a person is breathing. We should learn to appreciate all of our brethren regardless of what they look like or how they approach the life they have been given. Thanks Tyler for releasing this superior body of work. I am sure it will be therapy for so many of us and for different reasons. Keeping you on the altar. Rjpayne

This may be Tyler Perry's best movie to date. Yea the "Madea's" are classic. But outside of that genre of film this is on top. Way to go Tyler!! This movie was fantastic and I will probably watch it again 2nite. Also the "Paper Planes" song is a masterpiece. Performed as Bayou Boyd in the movie was heart-touching, but Ruth B. made it magical. Very moving and emotional. Thank you Tyler for letting us watch this masterpiece "your baby"!!

I enjoyed every minute of this movie, but I was on the edge of my seat during the movie. I was nervous as hell for Bayou and his mom. Great performances by the handsome Joshua Boone and the three beauties, Solea Pfeifer, Amirah Vann and Milauna Jackson.

It was because I experience true love, I saw true love, come alive.

I ab- so-lutely love the Jazzman Blues movie!!!! Tyler, I am glad you waited years to produce this movie. Your growth in the industry in front and behind the camera shows. Your best movie. Oscar worthy just like Roots & The Color Putple. Also this movie reminded and impacted me in the same way as the Imitation of Life movie when I first watched it at eleven years old.
I also like the fact, this movie was casted with new Hollywood faces. Well done to all cast members! This movie is your game changer.
Joshua, yes, I felt something. I felt the love between these beautiful young people. As a mother, I felt the needed to protect my 'favorite' son. Lets be real, Bouyou was her favorite. Lol. As a daughter, I felt the need to check on my mother and wanting the best for my child. As a grandmother, I felt the need to tell my grandson about his father when he can maturally process the information even if he accepts it or not before passing alway. As a young woman, the heart (love) controls the mind and when you find that one person who brings you happiness, it makes you do selfish things. I get it! Save me my Knight shining amour My Prince Charming. As a sibling, I felt sorry for the brother with an addiction and learned his hatred from his father. So it's important to watch what you say and do in front of children.
So AGAIN, Joshua and Solea, I FELT every emotion from each character! You have a fan.

I salute Tyler Perry for affirming the morals and values of our Black culture in his work. While some of my people denigrate him for promoting the stereotypes of Black culture, I choose to focus on the "old school " morals and values that we used to live by. In this time of "new school " thought and action, it's rare to find the paths that we used to count on
Our cultural pillars used to be the home, school and church-these three.
There was common knowledge of and respect for these three institutions!! NO MORE!!

💐This movie hit so close for me. My maternal grandmother and her 8 siblings’ (parents father white // mother black) born between the late 1880s to 1917 had to go through similar plights. My grandmother, to my knowledge, was the only one to marry a black man and not move up north like her siblings did. Growing up, I never knew personally but one of my great uncles and the rest was shown to us through pictures over the years. I guess they chose what was best for own survival reasons. I knew they all loved each other. My grandmother and her Sisters visited each other a lot, along with their Brothers occasionally. They’re all in Heaven now💐
💐🥰Thank you Mr. Tyler Perry … This movie is a Masterpiece. 🤗The conversation has started💯💪🏽

The concept of the life of mixed race and non ambiguous people with African descent is why we should allow them their own space and stop forcing them to identify with a singular race. We're still fighting remnants of the one drop rule that needs to die.
That being said this movie touched on many issues facing the Jim Crow South but very few of them were deeply explored or fleshed out. Although it is one of TPs better works, I feel like most of the story lines fell flat with no resolution. But I may be the only one who felt this way. 🤷🏾‍♀️

We need to kill the 1 drop rule and be honest about our community’s affinity of whiteness and lightness while many hate the melanated skin they’re in. Aside from that, the movie was well done but could have really gone there but seemingly selected not to.

I so agree. The last scene with the "son" on the porch pulling out to the confederate flag, especially in these times. I'm not sure if it personified what we are faced with today and or in the past. Probably both so I agree I was disturbed juxtaposed to a supposed "love story" where the Black man lost yet again. Not encouraging.

    • @vetgirl71
      @vetgirl71 ปีที่แล้ว

She wasn’t a white woman, she was mixed race and passing for white in Jim Crow Amerikkka. 🙄
Her mother went to the north to pass as a white woman and used her white colored skin as an advantage in the white world to have a so called better life in society. It was dangerous back then to pass, especially get married to a white man/woman. Most of those people never stayed in touch with their family or friends for fear of being outed and killed. It was very risky for them to go back to the south , because someone may have recognized them and told on them. If that baby had any black features she & that baby would have been murdered too!
