Picked a pretty bad time to upload the first episode of this, with Vampire Survivors blowing up and all. But, this series still has a chance as long as it has fans. Don't let me down.
@@Killahkik Same here lol. I think as long as you play somewhat smart, you are good to go. Completely goofed the first few days and still first tried it
I had to go back and rewatch the first episode. It's fun to see Tyler go blind into this. A few things aren't as intuitive as they could be - like how Coal Thumpers work (which I assume is what the cliff hanger is about) - but in other aspects I still feel like this game is such a masterpiece. I know Tyler already finished recording this series so I'm anxious to see his reactions going forward.
@@gytuj6722 MAYBE I THINK IT WILL BE COMMENTS ABOUT THE VIDEO EVERYONE TELLS ME WAIT UNTIL YOU WATCH THE VIDEO TO LOOK AT THE COMMENTS AND NOW YOU WANT ME TO BUY A GAME AND PLAY IT BEFORE I GO TO COMMENTS?
Yeah, nice edits like that are good from time to time, but for the most part I like aliensrock's editing BECAUSE you don't notice it. Clips just flow together seamlessly, despite the obvious jump cuts. And how the blend cut represents great time passing? It just makes sense.
I think he said he prerecorded the episodes somewhere, but its been bothering me too, the coal shortage when he's using workers to pile up coal, the game really does require reading a page of explanation for every aspect
I get why Tyler recorded the entire series beforehand. The game is a few years old and is inevitably prone to backseating. But it's just more fun going in blind without unsolicited help. Keep it up, I'm excited for the upcoming episodes
Coal thumper needs people to pick up it's coal a gathering post near by can cover it and keep the people warmer Also Automaton is pronounced "Or Tom a Ton" not Automation it has no i in it It's another word for "robot" used more in the age of steam
In general terms, Automatons are designed to automate a specific task and execute it independently, while robots are less specialized and can be easily repurposed or reprogramed. Automaton is a much more steampunk word, which makes sense to use in this game, however the "automatons" in this game are actually more like "robots" since you can have them automate many different tasks, funnily enough.
@@SLCclimber But people don't really pronounce the "r" in "or"; or at least, I don't. For me "or" is pretty much a homophone to "awe". Coal thumpers generate a coal pile underneath them. You need to send people to either gather directly at the pile or use a gathering hut Also hunters huts don’t need heating bc the hunters leave the city to go hunt. You can build them on the outskirts of the city to save room close to the generator.
Im so looking forward to the development of this series and also seeing how Tyler just empathise the workers for overworking and stuff its just so wholesome
This is an awesome series! My favourite on the channel by a long shot and really got me back into the content! Hopefully this can become a full-on series!
Slight tip - if you send scouts to somewhere you have already been then to the place you want to go, it's faster than just going straight to the place! (if they are on the way)
God I've been waiting for this. I loved the first episode and with all the other videos in between I thought it didn't do well enough or wasn't fun enough for more videos. Really glad it's back.
when i first played this game I barely managed to beat it with only around 50 people around, and then my friend was like wtf have you done i had like 600 survivors at the end and only like a few people died in his playthrough XDD
I got about 10 deaths total on my first playthrough, and plenty of resources over the entire game. My reaction was "this is supposed to be hard?" Now, after seeing Tyler play, I realize why people think it's hard - I read all the prompts and building descriptions, while Tyler skims over a lot of useful information.
@@id01_01 I played this over the weekend after watching episode 1 and found that there are also a few early choices (mostly being too nice/generous) that can very easily kill a run when you don't 100% understand the consequences. On my first (mostly blind) playthrough, I chose palliative care as one of the first laws because I didn't realize prosthetics were an option down the road and didn't want the hit to morale. Directly because of that one choice, I failed around day 12 due to a snowball effect where gravely ill patients locked up all the medical spaces, causing new sick workers to go untreated and become gravely ill until I could build more medical tents which would immediately be filled by grave cases, and so on. I knew days in advance that I was going to lose and I was powerless to stop it because I couldn't reverse the law.
Tyler also doesn't understand temperature mechanics at all. And he's blind, there were freezing tents right in front of his face and he's like "oh all my homes are warm".
Here are some tips for early game if you start another playthrough of this: Make laws everytime you can and focus un extendet shift and always have it everywhere Always reserch to it is key. Gathering posts keep people warmer with gathering from piles which means less sick people Flying hunters are really good for food Steam hubs is an early must Coal mines are usually better than coal thumpers, and do your best to keep as much as possible at coldest chilly Atomotones are sooooo good you should try to get as manny as possible Lastly you will need a ton of steel further into the game so try to get the pest steelworks poosible early Hoope you enjoy one of my favorite games :)
Plus getting max amount of scouts is super important, and they travel faster to where they already have been so try to go to a close region before a new one to save time. You can get up to 4 reserch buildings for faster reserch Tesla city is really op to, you will see why
i love this series saw this game years ago at other channels it’s still awesome i love to see you a strategie game like this you play very rational most of the times love to see! keep the content and keep the vampire boost on your side and use it! :D
this Frostpunk playthrough is really cool! I'm really excited to see how you handle the lategame's challenges, and I'm really excited to see what other series you do in the future! On that note, have you ever considered doing a playthrough of Gloomhaven Digital? It seems right up your alley, mixing a card-based RPG with an almost puzzle-like aspect to completing the game's scenarios, whether you're playing on Guildmaster Mode or the more traditional campaign. I can't recommend it enough, it's one of my favorites and I think you would get a massive kick out of it.
Frostpunk is really amazing :O And also very hard. Seems like the challenge you need :P I really appreciate your lets play and I absolutly know, that I won't be able do to it better ^^ So thanks for playing Frostpunk :D
You need to build a wall drill to get wood and i don't recommend searching winterhome until day 15 due to the fact that the storm will come faster and also automatons only work at 60% efficiency until you research automaton intergration

Watching new players panic as this game goes horribly wrong is a dark joy. Tyler is doing pretty good for his first city. Bugs me that he keeps saying 'automation' for the 'aut-om-ma-ton' though.
this is probably my favourite game of all time, i have played it so much and completed all of the senario's (exepct the winterhome one i think, that one is harddddd) but it is really fun to see someone who is new to the game get there ass kicked a bit by it.
Make a gathering post near the coal thumper and make sure they cover the coal piles that are in the back of the thumper may need two to fully make most of it (took some time to figure it out for me through the time when the game demo was up didn't play the game a lot but I did what I could for the most part). take the automaton and set it on one of the resource factories any of your choices that you are okay with setting and for getting it.
I saw "bunkhouses" on the last research tab. Maybe its an improvement to the tents? I mean, I wouldn't want to camp for weeks in small tents when its THAT cold outside. Rather share a house with more people(=more sources of heat).

I love how Tyler decided to name the automaton as 'Bridge'. Its oddly wholesome for the beast that brings hope to the people
I'm having some death stranding flashbacks
i think its because he misundertsod that is was only clearing the bridge of snow not the actual bridge itself. he thought it was the bridge
