I love this story, and have since I was a child. Now that I'm old, and listening to it again after many years, I find it surprising the way the rich people behave. They admire the simple life Heidi has and the grandmother admires the hayloft. Yet, the first she does is sent them beds and rid the hayloft of hay. They send boxes and boxes of stuff to people who live in a 1 room house with a cupboard. It never occurs to them that maybe the reason the grandfather and Heidi are so happy is because they have no worries. The minute you get locked into that consumer lifestyle (Heidi wanting the latest fashions, needing to redo the hut, add new furniture, carpeting wallpaper, etc. ) then the grandfather needs a lot more money to manage his lifestyle and there goes his peace. IMHO
Thanks for making this audiobook! It’s very helpful. Useful tip for the viewers here; if you think she’s reading too slow, speed up the video by 1.25% (click the 3 dots on the corner of the vid and click ‘playback speed’)
Thank you so much for this lovely reading of Heidi. I listened to it in chapters before bedtime and it was calming. Such a beautiful setting and sweet characters.
Peter was so jealous of Clara. He was really just afraid they would take Heidi back with them and she was his only friend and he wasnt used to sharing her. Poor boy.
Is the title "Heidi" too short? Today sentences, phrases, and long words seem to be always abreviated. So a short title like Heidi works for this time period, but as Heidi was written almost 150 years ago, it WAS too short. In the part 1 + part 2 1880's book publication, the title was: Adelheide-Das Mädchen von Alpenbirge. In a 100th anniversary French 2 record set the title was, Heidi: La Merveilleuse Histoire d'une fille de la Montagne.
Not a good reading. Wonderful story but the reader's ending every sentence in a few octaves higher is rather irritating. Unfortunately, no other readings of this wonderful book.
Thank You Libri Vox, Cara for reading, Heidi, 🛡️🌐🥰🚭🍿🧬♀️🫖🍵A Timeless Story, Childhood Innocence, Authoress!♀️♾️

Agreed. But pretty typical values for the time.
German is my native language and I could read/listen to this in the original - but this reader, Cara, is so perfect, I always choose this version.
A story that will last forever! Beautiful, thank you for another great upload.
