I try my nest to help them, motivate them, and guide them, while leaving quite a bit of room for them to maneuver. So it’s hard to guess the outcome 🥴

    I still don't understand what logarithms do. Can't you just write 2^x = 16 instead of log2(16)=x? In fact, wouldn't that just make it harder since you need to convert it to exponential form when solving anyways. I don't think logs help much when solving for an equation where the x is on both sides to the equation. Can someone explain please?

    • @Whaddif_
      @Whaddif_ 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      funny enough, that relationship there is exactly why they’re needed. because they’re opposites, you can both learn from deducing information from the opposite half (knowing 2³ = 8, so log base 2 of 8 is 3)
      logs are basically asking, what would the exponent be to get this value? and then exponents are the ones we love, but sometimes can’t do what we want with them. so then we convert it to the equivalent opposite, in log form! and then can use the laws of logarithms and logarithmic properties to manipulate it so that it’s in a form we can effectively work with since we got it into a better form using this relationship but also other mathematics processes and concepts! A little late, LOL

    If you're struggling with this as much as I did please write the steps to them and add in conditional statements under each step. For example step 1 for me is divided into 3 steps itself, simplify, combine, and isolate, in terms of log expression. Under simplify I have statements such as: May need to use power property, logs may cancel if bases are same, may need to multiply out the denominator, ect. Hope it helps : ) GL

What really makes this instruction mode "heueristic" is probably the ability for the student to 1) choose what they want to learn, and 2) be able to pause the video(s) if they come to a point they need to think about more.

    13:17 i would like to file a complaint, why are we subtracting 27 and not 7?
    how do you actually determine who gets used in subtracting and who doesnt
    like Log3(5x+1) =4
    3^4=5x+1
    81=5x+1
    -1 -1
    but then in the clip i put there up top you usedthe left side to subtract, I'm confused

    • @kingklaus2115
      @kingklaus2115 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since you’re trying to break it down into a quadratic equation, you need to subtract the 27 from the 7 so the equation is equal to zero. That way you can solve for the zeroes in the equation. If you subtracted the 7 from both sides instead you would have a 20 on the other side, meaning you’d have to do an extra step by subtracting 20 from either side instead. A standard quadratic equation is 0 = x^2 + bx + c.

    • @kingklaus2115
      @kingklaus2115 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can’t continue to solve the equation until it’s in that form with the equation equaling zero.
