I always felt that the reason someya uses a weapon here is because deep down he knows that he can’t beat kiryu hand to hand but he also knows that this time he can’t lose, hence why he decides to wield a katana.
and his intention wasn't to have a good fight like the other times, he *had* to kill Kiryu
I just thought that it's because he views himself like a honorable samurai. Makes sense when he was willing to lay his life
He definitely does respect kiryu with how many times he has been defeated by him already
The katana will help with his odds of winning even if he still sees their fighting ability to be equal anyways
do note the subtle detail: he tosses away the sheath as he draws the blade, this is done by a samurai when he knows he's gonna die in battle
@@polaski421 I remember seeing this in the comment section of a video about vergil fighting mundus. I started looking out for this detail a lot more and realized that this is the case a lot of times in modern pop culture involving samurai or katana wielding swordsmen.
Someya - A rare example of a true old school Yakuza in modern times. He fights to protect those important to him and is more than willing to die for them. You know Kiryu wanted to KILL Iwami for Someya too.

I always make sure to marathon my yakuza playlist, these soundtracks are too good to set aside.
Yakuza 6 was a game rife with technical issue and strange decisions compared to previous installments, held aloft by incredible characters such as Someya and others. While it was at times painful playing through it, never was I bored.
If you ever use this music, and it isn't for a battle that hurts you just as much emotionally as it does physically, *you're doing it wrong.*

At first, I thought this sounded all clumpy and mushed together. But after listening to it a second time a few days later, it sounds better than I thought! I love it!
