Pete's music never fails to move me.One of the best song writers if not the best, to come from this country. An amazing talent. Melodic, soulful. Not like today. LOL .
Picked Pete up in my cab the other week. Recognised Him by his voice straight off. Shook his hand and told him how much I loved his music but didn't get the chance to tell him how much this song helped me in my childhood. Great uplifting song
Great song :) Quote from a local DJ "Pete Wylie only loves 3 things, Liverpool FC, Liverpool and himself...... but not neccessarily in that order!" always brings a smile to my face :)
I heard this for the first time today whilst shopping in Asda.Gratefully I remembered the lyrics and here I am :) Great song I can't believe I haven't heard it before.
If you read this Peter, this song had the same effect on me when I first heard it as "Only You", by Yazoo, "Where do yo go to my darling" by Pete Sarstedt and a handle full of others that escape me at the moment. It's a great classic, thank you.
People who are too young to know better, say that the 80s rocked because of stuff like this. But what you have to realise is that we had to suffer shite like Kelly Marie, Tiffany, Shakin' Stevens as well. So we treasured these gems even more!
I seriously believe this to be one of the greatest songs ever written and even though he wrote it, and even though he sang it, I don't think Pete Wylie did it justice and I've no idea who could. I can't think of anyone with a good enough voice to sing it.
Here in my pocket I've got the story of the blues, Try to believe me because it could be front page news, I said I live with it like it hasn't happened yet, I keep thinking of everyone, and I am one, Of what they're trying to get... to tell The Story of the Blues. First they take your pride, Turn it on inside, And then you realise you've got nothing left to lose. So you try to start, try to get back up, And then you realise you're telling The Story of the Blues.
This takes me back :) anyone remember the Shoulder in South Normanton, Derbyshire around the years 1982-1985 ? this was one of many great tunes played there:))
Great to hear it again,,been a year or two. Funny how a certain song can just come into your thoughts for no apparent reason! Top top track,,,great times!!
Thanks for posting, good to see him, but what happened to the end? Kind of abrupt! Not that I remember how the short version ends - I love the whole talking blues version... My mate and I used to practice our Scouser accents throughout double physics because of Pete Wylie!

I agree, as a 40 year old, there was a huge amount of shit around. I haven't got rose tinted specs, i'm perfectly aware af the shite - but there are some exceptions. This sure is one, this is awesome, it's a top tune.
Now 80s brought me here. A song I haven't heard for many many years and what a song!
Pete's music never fails to move me.One of the best song writers if not the best, to come from this country. An amazing talent. Melodic, soulful. Not like today. LOL .

beautiful innit. I am lucky enough to live next to Coventry, free Godiva Festival. Boomtown Rats and Charlatans long live Dave Nellist
Most people don't feel lucky living near Cov. !!
Karen Swann I campaigned for Dave Nellist 30 years ago. I travelled from Swansea to Coventry to spend a couple of days campaigning. Top bloke !
People who are too young to know better, say that the 80s rocked because of stuff like this. But what you have to realise is that we had to suffer shite like Kelly Marie, Tiffany, Shakin' Stevens as well. So we treasured these gems even more!
One of the most underated songs of all time !
