Greetings from the Shunkaha Napin singers, youth drum located in Nespelem, Washington. Our main singers are Colville and Upper Yanktonais and the drum is named from their Sioux side. My mother sent to St Jo in the 1940's as a child.
Do you know a website or a video where I can find the lyrics on how to pronounce this song? Am in a club and I need to know the words to this song when I sing. Do you know if you could help me? It would be really appreciated!
Hey, Hattie! Sorry for the late reply, it was busy around here leading up to powwow! Hi! We have the translated Lakota song in our new Lakota video. However, it is on our SJIS Kids TH-cam page. You can find the video here: th-cam.com/video/mqGLDIcYuuk/w-d-xo.html
@@stjo1927 Sorry, but i need the translation of Lakota Veterans Song, not Lakota Flag Song. I made a mistake with lyrics in my comment. I can't find at least lyrics for this song. If you will translate this and write lyrics, i will very appreciate that
Which flag are they singing about? The American flag, the Lakota Flag, or both. I do know that the Lakota people have a combination flag for the U.S. and the Lakota flags. It's the Lakota flag with a blue ridge representing the states around it's edge. But perhaps this song only stresses one, or the other. If you know for sure, please tell me.
Hi Allie, great question. The song does represent both. Here is a link for a more in-depth explanation from the WoLakota Project. The explanation begins about a minute and nineteen seconds. www.wolakotaproject.org/oseu-six/lakota-flag-song-and-history-with-paul-plume/

Why honor the flag of your oppressor?
Blessing :-* :-* :-*
Lovely! Do the boys have a right to have long hair? As you might know long hair is very important in most Indian cultures.
Yes! Any boy who wants to grow his hair long is encouraged to do so. Any haircuts are only done if given permission from the child's family.
@@stjo1927 Thank you! That's wonderful to know.
Cool
These kids are cool, keep it up
