    Not sure what size leather edger to buy? Chuck clears up some of the confusion in this episode of "The Leather Element" by going over the different sizes and what weight leather to use with each one. Most of the time you can get by with only one or two different sizes!

    I just googled this two days ago. This 4 minute video was more helpful than a half an hour of reading through all kinds of search results. Thanks Chuck!

    I just wanted to say thank you for your videos. Because of them, and your help, I've started a new hobby. I'm enjoying working with leather and tackling new projects, although it's hard to keep up with the orders my kids are putting in. It's easy to support a company who'd helped me so much. Cheers!

    Dear Chuck! I commented a while back that you where the one who got me into Leather crafting. This Mothers Day i crafted my first Leather Rose for my 81 year old mother. Ever since i bought my Mother gifts for Mothers Day she liked them. But this year she was so over the top happy and said that when her time comes and she passes she wants this leather rose by her side. This moment was one of the most touching in my life! It shows that something simple done with love and a little of effort can be much more valuable than the most tricked out smart phone, tablet or pressure cooker in the world. This moment alone showed me that i made the right decision to pursue this new hobby and it shows that the oldest craft in the world is as important today as it ever was. Again thank you for all the effort you make to bring this craft to a wide range of people. Traditions get passed on that way and endure over the times. I hope to meet you personal one time when you are in Texas by chance !

    Hi Chuck,
    I have an order to make five woman's purses...no problem.... except that the customer would like a zipper closer on the top of purse and on a side pocket as well.
    Could you make a Leather Element about the do's and don'ts of installing zippers in leather.
    Thanks,
    Lee

      Im already seeing a difference since i bought a 1.5 Edger. When learning i was told a 3 would be the best size but to use a 4 for thicker leather. Needless to say i have learned that was not good advice. @@WeaverLeatherSupply

    Good info. I use a medium size on most leathers and finish with sandpaper. Sometimes on thin I just use sandpaper and it does the job fine. Gonna be sanding the edge anyway.

    Hey Chuck, these leather elements are great, and really helping to inspire me to keep going. Idea for a Leather Element, ine thing I see coming up increasingly is hybrid tanned, also called veg-chrome retain. How should this be worked? Is it more like chrome, or veg, what is its place in leathercraft?

    I got confused, do you bevel both sides in all your projects? or was the video just demonstrating how effective the beveler was on the flesh side?

    • @WeaverLeatherSupply
      @WeaverLeatherSupply  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the project but for the most part, yes. Say on a belt blank - you will want to bevel both sides so you have a nice round edge.

    I'm actually looking at doing some very teeny tiny leather tooling for some Red Dead Redemption scale models, so that size 0 might just be exactly what I'm looking for lol! Tooling in miniature is gonna be a fun challenge

    • @WeaverLeatherSupply
      @WeaverLeatherSupply  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds cool! Yes, the size 0 should work very well for you.

  • @randomscandinavian6094
    @randomscandinavian6094 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    My Weaver #0 takes off about three times as much as my Flint #0. And I like it a lot more since the Flint has a very very narrow point that makes it easily jump on me and scratch the surface. The Weaver is a lot steadier on the edge. But it does shave off a lot for a zero I think. I wouldn’t personally want anything heavier for small goods like watch straps and card holders. It’s just perfect for that in my opinion. Lovely tool to use.

  • @NavinJohnson_thethird

    Unfortunately, Weaver is "out of stock" on most items I've tried to purchase from the website. Whether it's thread, beveler's, maul's I've had to buy from another company.

      We apologize for this - we are doing our best to get items in as soon as possible. Unfortunately most vendors for our raw materials and finished products have not caught up from COVID and then the holidays so we appreciate everyone's patience as we navigate through this.

    So, which 2 of the 3 do you recommend?

    • @WeaverLeatherSupply
      @WeaverLeatherSupply  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends a little bit on the thickness of leather you use, but, generally we recommend #0 and #1 unless you are doing heavy weight sheaths or holsters, then we would bump up to a #1 and #2.
