I am a wreck. That's authentic. My life is a mess sometimes.
The best moments of life come when I realize I have been wrong and admit it.
The best moments come right after moments of intense personal humiliation and I can find the humor in my own foolishness.

@Cherokee By Blood Sigma WigWhammy You are pushing hard and say at the same time to you (who is finally everybody): "Take it easy." So, don't push, ignore in a friendly way the conditioned chatter in your mind saying you have to be authentic. You can't force authentic behaviour; you'll lose authenticity except authentically forcing yourself to be authentic... Trust the fact that everything (up or down to the smallest cell in your body (let alone the Spirit) is built for the best result. Just let go; you will not turn into a monster. The opposite is true - if you are quite then your REAL YOU is like "Thank you, finally, I can speak" and believe me, this Conscience is what many people call God, Higher Self, Buddha, Christ, Allah, Awakening etc. Just breathe and do not resist, it'll take a couple of minutes and you will be in a state of WOW, but don't try to grasp it because then it will be gone. It is practising not to practice. xoxo

Authenticity is radical. We will always pay a price for being authentic. Others can't stand the notion that we would not conform to their expectations. Conform and be "liked" /accepted, be authentic and you will end up being hated by most.

      @rhythmicelegance4670 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Indeed. The more I have undergone a self-initiated metamorphosis, the more brutally authentic I have become with myself and other people. I can handle it, but many other people have not been able to, and some like it but have not yet known how to process it. Although I am at peace with the thought of losing some people along the way, I am working on a bit more tact in my communication of authenticity for the people who stay, as well as for myself. There is a graceful way to lay all the cards out on the table without cutting people to pieces with them.

    • @coffeetime3293

I think true authenticity includes love to yourself and others. You are not authentic if you are cruel, toxic, blaming and judging. Because it is not our true self, but our ignorance. When we realize our true nature we become loving and forgiving. This is true authenticity.

This is so only if the person places some worth on the truth of that consistency. One of my teachers was a chameleon who couldn't help himself but change into the exact player to whom he was playing 2nd flute. This abruptly changed when he became the respected first flutist. Unfortunately there was then no one who could be his chameleon. This was similar to my pianist who for many years and for a great number of world-class players was a great accompanist. He is now a great collaborator, however, no longer "just" changing his colors unquestioningly to accommodate the "soloist".

  • @Msibme

Being authentic is a luxury. Having the courage to be ourselves to express our true feelings ... for me was only possible when my reliance on friends, family, work and community reduced. I can be honest with myself because I now do not rely on these who may not like my lifestyle, agree with my life views or will accept who I am. IT IS MOST FREEING TO BE ABLE TO BE WHO I TRUELY AM, TO BE AUTHENTIC. Being authentic can be costly. I have lost jobs, relationships with family, loss of validation of those around me who disagree with my truth. I believe and have made these possibilities known to people I have encouraged to be authentic. There have been many times I have felt completely alone and close to being disheartened because of being rejected by others ... which has very often occurred since I was a child. BUT I GOTTA SAY. THE FREEDOM OF NOT BEING A SHEEP .... AND GOING ALONG WITH THE CROWD JUST TO BE LIKED ... ALWAYS IN FEAR IF I MAKE A MISTAKE AND PEOPLE FIND OUT WHO I REALLY AM. It is such a relief to be who I am and stand up for what I believe. I have found it interesting how others have attacked me when faced with an idea is not the same as theirs.

I think the authenticity he’s talking about is about our relationships with people we are bound to interact with, not with those we don’t. So discernment (i.e., whom we choose to reveal our true self or not) is already a given.

  • @beebom8407

For me true authenticity lies in our humble acceptance to be disliked/hated/rejected by others for the truth and real in us rather than be liked/admired/accepted for the falsity/pretension/dishonesty in us - just to be popular.

I have heard ppl say , just fake it until you make it . So I tried doing that and just made a total fool of myself .
But , when I'm spending time with my elderly father , sometimes I have to agree with him on certain things that I dont agree with ( such as , religious beliefs ) , because I dont want him to become aggitated . If he asks me how I'm doing , I sometimes lie and tell him I'm doing great , but in actuality, I'm not . I just dont want him to worry because it affects his state of mind and his blood pressure . So sometimes I do feel its neccessary to pretend that everything is A ok 👌. That's why I feel grateful I have a close friend I can be honest with and my best friend can tell me how they are truly doing as well . I do think it's very important to be honest when dating . Although I'm not in the dating scene currently , I feel this is one of the most important times to be honest about who we really are . Such as , ones education level , how many children one might have or want to have . Some ppl dont want to procreate and some do . Ppl should be honest about their basic goals in life . Some ppl will say anything so they can get physically intimate and I think that is wrong . For example, a man might say he is a police officer or an FBI agent when he is actually security guard at a mall . Nothing wrong with being a security guard , but just dont lie about serious things like that so you can get laid .
A guy once told me he was a doctor . About a month later I went to visit a friend in the hospital and I saw this man working in the cafeteria and when he saw me he was like a deer caught in the headlights . I actually felt sorry for him . Maybe he was working his way through med school , I dont know , but I never called him because I do believe he was lying to me . If he just would have been honest with me I probably would have met him for a cup of coffee and pastries at the cafeteria .
He was embarrassed and so was I .
Lying can lead to embarrassment as well as many other strange occurrences, all because of one lie . I hope I haven't offended anyone with my comment here , because that's not my intention . Life seems to be a constant learning process that never ends . If we knew everything , I think life could be quite common and dull .

    • @ritaparker478
      @ritaparker478 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

I am not so sure not telling your father how you are really doing is lying. It seems you are a caring, loving person who cares about the health of their father. Having discretion to know what to say and not say is also important in being authentic. Some times people think that they will tell the truth to people no matter what the consequences, but is it the truth or only their perception? The truth of compassion and caring is can be more important than the truth of facts.

I got goosebumps while watching, the timing of this video is just insane! Yesterday night I wrote in my journal: ‘If you present a persona to the world, and people don’t like it, then they will not like you for the person who you are in their eyes, even though it is not truly you. You have such a small window of time with everyone in your life. Show them who you truly are, for some might actually like it, and you’ll develop meaningful relationships.’ You managed to put my thoughts into text so beautifully, and helped me on top of that! If people like who I am that's good - for THEM. Whether someone likes me or not reflects to me who THEY are and not who I am.
After being rejected many times for a position of "Principal 1st Flutist" with several orchestras, I was asked by my mother (among others) why I had been rejected so many times to which I answered, "They probably didn't want the flutist/person they perceived me to be." My mother pressed the issue further by inquiring as to why I didn't just give them what they wanted, to which I replied, "But then I'd have to do it that way for the entire time. I'd rather find an orchestra who feels that what I do is exactly that for which they are looking. Then I'll be happy." I think it wonderful, Felix, that you find Nada's videos eloquent and helpful. @@howardcohen6817 @Rhythmic Elegance Thank you both for your kind and inspiring words! I find it really interesting to hear stories from people who've already gone or are going through similar struggles (I'm currently 23 years old and feel like I'm still new on this journey).
Another thing I've noticed and would like to add, although it is pretty hard to put into words: if you are not truly being yourself, and you do not speak out what you have in mind, then you actually hurt other people, for people will grow from your perspective.
I've found it hard to say what I have in mind because I don't want to hurt feelings. By not saying things I have in mind, I've limited other peoples growth. People are often blind to their own weaknesses, and when you speak it out in a kind and helpful way, most people will actually apreciate the help. This will also lead to an easier way of living with the people who'm you want a more meaningful relationship with.
So in conclusion: when you are not open about yourself, you hurt yourself, and eventually others.
I hope this makes some sense, but I've actually found it helpful.

You must look with clear eyes and listen with a quiet mind so that you can hear and see and determine the truth and the authenticity of what you see and hear around you.
    ---
Spirituality is fundamentally a quest for freedom-freedom from certain things and freedom for certain things.
Seen in this way, the picture becomes more complete. For you have a greater destiny in the world, a greater purpose for being here, a purpose that you are not living now, despite your definitions and proclamations. It is to free you from the life that you are living now to prepare you for a greater life in service to the world that represents the core and essence of all spiritual development.

So much energy is involved in maintaining the persona which is fear based but it keeps you thinking that you are somehow full. As soon as this is recognised the ability to be authentic is an awakening of sorts. It is a release and a letting go but it must be a thorough letting go both emotionally and physically. What comes out initially isn't always you but it can be a product of your conditioning. Eventually an equilibrium is reached where the ship is steadier but then the journey begins. Then the subtraction really begins and it just keeps on going...reduction after reduction after reduction until eventually what once seemed artificially full now is authentically empty.. empty of sound like a deep wide powerful river..empty of destructive emotions but full of compassion and vitality....

Before I saw this video I was remembering the 10 yrs. I had spent in therapy. All of the years I have been trying to acknowledge and release all of the expectations placed upon me.
As an individual I am now learning to be myself without any pretense or people-pleasing. It is very freeing after receiving a life threatening diagnosis. It has changed my life for the better in so many ways.
It took a possibility of losing my life, to living my life as if each day were my last. Thank you, Nada

I think about this a lot because my son, who has autism, is authentic. He doesn't care what anyone thinks and he keeps no secrets, often sharing intimate details people don't want to hear. Yeah he's funny and thinks out loud but he's also very selfish. He'll eat a whole bag of chips, or the whole bowl of popcorn without thinking of his siblings who are often upset at him. He just doesn't care when we call him out. I know he has empathy, like when someone is hurt but he lacks the consideration of others and struggles with manners. I'm not sure how humans "are supposed" to be, but I'd thought I would share my observations.

You have given me much to think about! It seems that one’s authenticity is greatly influenced by their level of consciousness at any given moment. The rise and descent of one’s mindfulness seems to correspond with the emotional or mental highs and lows we experience in life. It also seems when one is habitually unhappy or afraid, they tend to drift further away from the stability their authenticity naturally reinforces. But one can always opt to take that inward journal to heal, to nourish, to better understand and then ground themselves in a new, more balanced version of their unique authenticity. Thanks for sharing your insight.

Absoultly feeling your frequency🤗 It such a amazing frequency to share. The compassion, understanding and love, that we are ALL capable of. I feel this is DEEP within all of us but, it's going to take some shadow work to break through. Many don't want to work through their shadow's in which is stalling their growth. Metaporphing isn't easy by far but nessacery for growth. We need remind ourselves we have the power to overcome this energy that's been pulling us down deeper and deeper.

AWAKENINGS. Asian Wisdom for Every Day', this morning May 13:
'Every day I examine myself on these points.
In looking after the affairs of others, have I been loyal?
In my relationships with friends, have I been sincere?' Tseng-tzu
Well, probably as good a place as any, to move the quest forward. Thanks Nada for addressing a lifelong dilemma, more poignant as years (74) slip by. Beautiful words and one of your best. But then I often think that 😊

Excellent! Humility is the first threshold towards excellence.
"Since you say you have no sin, your sin remains."
    Jesus
    Authentic, etymology:
One acting on one's own authority; self doer; self being
Those who know by virtue of inward cognizance are as Jesus, of whom it is said that he spoke as one having authority. No quoting or studying is necessary because the author or source of knowing is within.

I just watched this a second time, and, oh my, did i get so much more!!! I have heard messages about authenticity in the past, but this one was indeed soooo much more insightful! For as long as i can remember, i have felt shut out from others. I was an extremely sensitive, and shy person. I often contemplated on stuff that i suspected the average person was not giving much attention to. I was raised in a christian household, but started questioning so much about our beliefs early on, but would just keep the thoughts to myself. My questions went deep into deep, and i did not have anyone to talk to about it. I started developing my own unique style when i was in high school, and seemed to be shut out from all the "groups." I even remember someone telling me that they did not even know if there was a "category" that i fit. At that impressionable time, that really hurt, but looking back, i realize that comment was a huge compliment, little did i know. Then as i got older, i was still growing in my unique style, and my "becoming," Mind, body, and soul, and was longing to get connected with others that were thinkers, and creative minds. But time and time again i remember coming across someone i thought there could be a connection with, and they would just say:" I love your outfit! "You look so cool!!!" But that would be about the extent of it. I would remember walking away thinking: "They just do not want to "know" me, and i have sooo much to say. If they only knew, i would say to myself. Through all this, i have still remained true to who i am. your channel has really been helping me a lot too. I have gotten more and more of a understanding that it is much better to be your authentic self, even if it causes you to be shunned from most people. I have become to know that it is an absolute privilege to just be who you are, to love and accept yourself right where you are at, and to never stop growing in knowledge, wisdom, and the never ending capacity to love others more and more fully. I thank you for all your wisdom and grace in which you bestow in your wonderful videos!

There is a lot of unacceptance in this world and a lot of people who are not accepting of who a person truly is.This is exactly why it is so important to be authentic. After being faced with enough of or very much of people truly being authentic then those who are unaccepting or who contribute to the world being unaccepting are ultimately forced to deal with authenticity or it at least is no longer ignorable to them.In theory anyway....this is what I hope would happen because it helps with awakening but some people are so unauthentic that they still would not wake up and that is really frustrating and sad but it is their reality and not mine or anyone else's who is truly being authentic.
