    “Spatial Video” LOL silly new buzzword for what already has a perfectly good name, 3-D video, thanks a lot Apple

    This is a very good quick introduction to the camera. I had never heard of it before.
    Your side-by-side comparison with an iPhone is very useful.
    Thanks for creating this video for us.

    I bought this camera back in early March for a couple of trips I was taking. My review is as follows. I would give it a 7 out of 10. The biggest drawback it has is that it takes so long to turn on and be ready to shoot. I’ve counted it out to 20 seconds. Switching between modes and doing anything takes a little bit of time as well.
    I take images in raw (DNG) format so I have ultimate editing power in Lightroom, the movies come out as they are though.
    Whenever it takes a good picture, it’s outstanding, but often times the shutter is slow and it gets a little bit of blur, or it focuses on the wrong thing and you have such a shallow depth of field. So you have to be very careful to get your subject and focus And have the exposure by a set to where the shutter will be fast enough.
    I’ve also noticed that the images look far better in 3D than the movies do. The movies are OK, but they just don’t have the same wow effect as the images do.
    The biggest plus to having this over the iPhone, if I am to understand correctly, is that the iPhone 15 Pro does not take 3D images, but 3D movies only.
    If they can work on their speed issues, I think this would be a winner. You can’t complain about the price though!

    I love this camera. So far documented two vacations with it. Throw it on a gimbal and you get very pleasing footage to watch. It’s also great how the recorded videos are ready to go. I also have a Vuze XR for 3D 180° VR video (which is different from this) but that requires processing first. Best camera purchase in a while for me.

    Great video. Can the camera upload spatial video to the quest 3?

      Yes, any footage from the EGO can be viewed in 3D on the Quest 3.

    Thanks for showing this off! Just guessing here but assuming the 3d effect is amplified on the Kandao since there is greater distance between the two lenses compared to the iPhone. This would be similar to video captured directly on the Vision Pro itself. Also I know we're just looking at the mono clips here on TH-cam but wow, the iPhone video quality and color is so much batter than the Kandao!

      Yeah makes perfect sense. I think the Kandao clips would need a lot more editing in post to get the color right.

      Exactly. Depth perception comes from viewing a scene with two viewports with some distance inbetween them (= human eyes in head). For 1:1 worldscale and best effects, this distance should match your IPD (~64mm). The IPhone is unable to do that, other 3D cams are able, so provide a better stereoscopic vision.
      But yes, in terms of white point balance, saturation, graining etc., the IPhone is way ahead.

      @@himelstech Curious if you’ve thought of sharing any of your captured spatial content so we can view on Vision Pro? Not sure of the best forum for this… perhaps the ImersiShare app?

      @@ryguyver There are content creators that upload VR180 content to TH-cam, then you use Moon player or something else to view it in 3D VR180 on your headset. Works pretty great honestly.

    Confused - you first exported from the stabilizing app in “mono” format before you converted to 3D using their app. Wouldn’t that have removed all 3D data? Did you re-export in SBS mode? Also, curious what the dimensions are of the SBS exports if you know? Are they squeezed into a 16:9 frame or is side 1:1? I’d like to try out their app for converting my own SBS files ;-)

    • @himelstech
      @himelstech  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No that was two separate exports. In the mobile app I exported as mono to show those clips of iphone vs kandao footage side by side for color/audio/stabilization. Then, for the 3D videos I converted the raw files using their desktop app.

    When you are shooting video, does this camera adjust focus on its own as the subject is moving or if you turn away to capture another subject? Not "tracking" necessarily, but do you need to keep tapping the screen while filming video to focus different subjects?

    • @himelstech
      @himelstech  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No need to keep tapping the screen it works just like normal autofocus.

    • @danc3746
      @danc3746 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@himelstech From QooCam support: When using the autofocus function in video mode, we suggest you touch-to-focus on the object each time you move the camera. This will help ensure that the camera accurately focuses on the desired object and produces a high-quality image.
