We have Cameron's 2006 Polaris Fusion 600 in the garage to address a fuel leak. Getting the carbs can be a challenge, but I'll show you the process to help take some of the frustration and anxiety from it.
Awesome! Thank you! Have my flat side carbs out of my 05 xc 500 sp and on my work bench now ready to be cleaned. This was great timing.
No problem. Let me know if you have any questions
last time I cleaned the carbs on my IQ, it took me longer to figure out how to get the airbox back in place than it took to actually clean the carbs lol. Biggest frustration of my life is that airbox
Yes. It’s an exercise in patience.
First time was a charm! Second time was a pain 😡
Thank you this video was the best I have found! Subbed and liked
Awesome! Thanks for subscribing!
Great video!!! Bout to go through the carbs on my '03 ProX 600, and those carbs look identical to what I have. I suspect those o-rings you were talking about are my problem.
Yes. They’re identical and make sure to get the o-rings. It’s pretty much the only thing that goes wrong with them
@@StreetersGarage Fo-Sho. I won’t even crack them open until I have the o-rings in hand. Thank you!
You're Welcome. Good Luck!
Same issue with my 02 700 RMK...
subscribed a few years back didn't realize you were from Mass. Go BRUINS!!! lol
Let’s go B’s!!!!
Awesome video, Tom, this will be very helpful for my Shift
No problem. Good luck!
Could not get the pilots out. Tried all different combinations on the screw drivers.
.i didn't want to strip them so I cleaned and sprayed air the best I could.
Do you need to do anything with the top of the carbs/slides?
Typically you don’t have to deal with the tops. But it would be good to pull the caps off and inspect the slides and make sure they’re not cracked.
If the slides are green in color, they’re prone to cracking. If they’re black, you should be ok.
@Streeters Garage
thanks for the information .
No problem. Good luck!
Great video. Helped a lot with my 2001 zr800. Question that brass knob at the top by the throttle cable is the adjustment for idle?
Yes it is.
@@StreetersGarage thanks, quick response!!!
You got it! Think snow.
Great info.
A dealer would charge 600 to 900 to do this job.
Absolutely
You really have some great videos thank you! I have a 700 and 800 edge chassis. Any tips to dial these into making them start easier? Mine is typically a 6-8 pull to start from cold. Anything to look at first. Carbs are super clean?!!
Thanks!
Typically they should start on the 3rd pull assuming that you have good compression on both cylinders. I’d check that first.
@@StreetersGarageCompression is good, new top end. Thank you
Hey question!? Where's the location I can put a primer line in for using a primer to start these up!?
The flat slides don’t have a provision for a primer. If the choke is functional, you don’t need a primer.
I have 5,300 miles on my stock Fusion 700! Hasn't been rebuilt and still starts on 2nd pull in -20 degree weather. 3rd pull maximum every time
That’s awesome!
Hello, thanks for the vidoes. Do you know if the part number for the orings the same for the 04 polaris 700 switchback? Carbs look identical.
Here you go.
1921401 - Polaris Part Number
KV/10 - Mikuni Part Number
So will the 3130533 orings not work in my carb?
Sorry. 1921401 isn’t correct
3130533 is the right one.
No problem thanks for your help appreciate it. Happy New Year!!!
Thank you.....thank you, and thank you..from Minnesota. 2000 rmk 500
You’re Welcome
I'm interested in getting a hold of a 440 CDI box from like 97.. I have an XC700 from 97.. I was hoping to get a better timing curve map.
eBay
Removing the seat and tank seems like a much smoother way versus trying to just remove the airbox the carb!
Absolutely. It’s almost impossible the other way.
What carb settings worked best for you on this sled in terms of jetting, screw turns and needle clip position? Right now my current set up is this 400 main jet
Stock 145 starter jet
45 Pilot jet
.6 Pilot air jet
Stock needle position 2
Screw turns?
I’ve heard a lot of people going to the .9 or 1 pilot air jets and maybe raising the needle to position 3. But going over the discussion boards everyone did something different. Thanks
Honestly, I don’t remember
Where can I find those 2 float bowl )-rings ? I look at a schematic for my 2001 XC 500 and they show the whole float assmbly. for $68.00 x 2 ! I only want the float bowl O-ring you say to replace.
SPI part number 19-21401
Thanks . Ordered already from Wahl Racing here in MN. $2.15 a piece. A no brainer. Thx again.
No problem. Good luck!
I’ve got an ‘03 rmk 700, what’s the difference between the spi part number vs the one you showed in the video? My carbs look the same as in the video
@jpskiskate2000 same part. Just from a aftermarket support versus Mikuni.
Any idea on how to adjust the float heights. Do you adjust them for level with the carb upside down ?
You want the brass float arm parallel with the with the edge of carb body.
The carb float asembly are all 100 percent plastic. No brass tang to adjust.
Found my floats both just a tiny bit below level when viewed upside down.
They are holding, blocking fuel when closed. Tested them with my mouth blowing air into the carb gas input plastic T line. Yuck,Yuck..
Took them apart. Now need new o rings. Might you have a spec, part number ? Wanted to check seat for debris, corrosion.
Also...great tip on reconnecting float bowls and then tightening drain bolt before the holding phillips screw.
Yep. Sorry, I didn’t realize what video the comment came from.
Part number from Polaris 3130533
My 99 xc 500 has these..my bottom end keeps flooding fast, gas isnt pouring out the over flow so it's not a stuck float, think it's them orings?
Definitely.
@@StreetersGarage just tested it with a pump, it's definitely leaking can hear it, thanks
No problem. Glad you were able to find the issue.
@@StreetersGarage didn't fix my flooding issue..even replaced the pump, I don't get it
@@TaylorGalarneau. Did you ever figure out what was flooding it? I’ve gone through 2 snowmobiles with this same issue and both had these style carbs and could never figure it out.
hi, you said you would post a link to the homemade tps tester. it would be great if you could pass that on. also, where did you get the jet screwdriver?
Buy this
Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Adjustment and Test Tool, All adapters Version a.co/d/aV1hMlF
Curious about the cheaper homemade version, did you make yours? Did it work correctly and give you correct reading to set tps? Could you send link for directions anyways pls?!?
I cannot easily adjust or tweak my tps sensor with T.B. installed on sled. I had to replace my tps and didn't record original position and first attempt was shots in the dark. I tried three other times with removing T.B. and adjusting tps on work bench with my snap on modus scantool. I now have it close but not perfect.
I got a 2006 Polaris IQ 700 C.F.I.
How manny washers are on each air screw?
Not sure. 1 or 2
Is it mandatory to do the tps scensor?
As long as you don’t move it at all. You don’t have to touch it.
@ thanks for your help man
No problem. Good luck.
Do you have the amount of screw turn specs for this carb? Looks like the same one as my 2002 polaris indy 500. I need to know how man turns on each screw that factory calls for. Someone tampered with mine and I don’t know if they’re set to spec or not.
If it’s the Fuji 500. 3/4 of a turn
@@StreetersGarage I’m gonna go look at the carbs and see what they are but isn’t there multiple screws that need adjustment inside the bowl like the needles and jets and outside for the air maybe?
@@StreetersGarage I was going to send a pic of the carbs but I don’t think I can on TH-cam
@@StreetersGarage however the carbs look just like the ones in the video
Ok. If there flat slides the settings will be different. I would need to look them up.
Awesome video!
Thanks Eric
Do you know what the model # is for this carb? I'm looking to get a rebuild / repair kit and want to make sure I'm getting the right one? or do you have a link? Thank you.
No, sorry
How do ya get the low end bog outta these carbs? Have an 02 SKS 700 with the 40s.
Could be a lot of things. Over fueling, under fueling. Clutching is off, broken clutch springs. Hard to say.
Screw on bowl is stuck/ almost stripped any recommendations?
Cut a slot in the screw with a dremel tool and use a regular screwdriver to get it out.
Are these carbs similar to the flatsides I have in my 2000 RMK 800 ? When I let my snowmobile sit for a couple of days the whole engine fills up with gas.
Yes. Exact thing. Make sure to get the o rings
First thing first, how in the hell did you get 2 10mm wrenches at the same time?
They reproduce at night. Lol
Do you happen to know if the electric start components from a 2006 Classic 700 IQ chassis will work in a
2006 Polaris Fusion 600 HO.
Should be the same. You would need to cross reference the part numbers from Babbits to be 100%
@@StreetersGarage Unfortunately they don't list the part number. Thank you, preciate the reply!
www.babbittsonline.com/oemparts/a/pol/503794a0f87002368411f103/starter-battery
Take a look there and start looking up the specific parts numbers and then look to see where they were used for cross referencing
@@StreetersGarage thank you. I was looking it up completely wrong...lol thank you !
No problem. Good luck!
I am having an issue with fuel pumping out of the vent hose into the air box. I did exactly as your video said and it is running great BUT still pumping fuel out. I don’t know what else to do.
I happens at low idol only
You have a stuck float. The bowls are overflowing and running out of the vents.
@@StreetersGarage thanks. what would cause the float to stick? I posted this on a Polaris page and many are saying the needle must have dirt or rubber is dried up and not seating properly causing the fuel to pump out ?? I have to re do the whole job. Hope I get it this time. If it’s just the float sticking how can I get it to move freely ?
Did you replace the o rings?
@@StreetersGarage yes I put the two new o rings in.
I did not disassemble the plastic floats and take the needles out and clean them , I think this was a mistake. I didn’t know enough about the carbs until I now am researching all of this. I’m going to this time. Hopefully it’s just got some grime in there and I don’t need to buy new needles. ? I really thought those O rings were surly the problem. So I just sprayed lots of carb cleaner through the port of the needles and blew them out good
How do you set them? I just got a sled and want to fine tune idle, and air fuel mixture
Start with the baseline specs from the service manual and go from there.
For setting slide height and idle. Take a look at the video I did for the Indy 500 round slides. It’s the same theory using the correct drill sizes.
But with the Flatslides it’s much easier since it’s a single cable that you’re adjusting.
Set the cable for the slide height and then use the idle adjustment screw to bring it to final.
Why didnt you show how to separate the plastic float assembly to change the needle seat valve???? Without breaking it???
Next time.
Well you skipped a step by not showing how to replace the needle seat inside the plastic float assembly..i want to replace mine but i dont want to break the little plastic ears that hold the float in...how do you do that???
It pops off. Pretty easy.
Can’t get the choke off mine didn’t show in video
No need to remove it.
I bought a 00 600 xc the water line was cracked leaked all the gas out I thought I blew the motor lol "ain't got no gas"
Lol
how do you get those o-rings off? the ones on mine are almost a plastic feel and they dont stretch off the groove. i dont want to damage the float mechanism because that plastic feels pretty thin
Use a razor blade to get underneath them and you can then roll it off.
@@StreetersGarage got em! thanks. great video. my fusion has a decent fuel leak and is very similar to this so i am doing everything but the mice removal to my sled. those capped fuel lines under the bowls didnt look to be leaking but they are pretty rough so im replacing that and doing those o-rings. ive watched a few videos of these flatside carbs and i havent seen anyone mention the o-rings so im glad i found this
@@jimbigler5287 The O rings are the most important thing with the flat side carbs. Every sled that had the flat slides needed them replaced. They’re pretty much the only thing that goes wrong with them.
School during March brake.
This is the first time in a couple of years we had a full break in February. We’ve had long weekends instead.
I do things on my own cuz I can't count on other people... You'll find that do a shotty job.. I'd exceed 700 one time I took to the dealer just for a quick look over in Greece. Well they stole my CDI box and they stole the coil
Couldn’t agree with you more. Last time I brought something to a “Shop” they ripped me off.
Jis screws. not phillips
Correct
