  • Harley's first adventure touring model has a lot to prove, and tough competition to prove it against, but on paper, it looks like it just might work.

I've got a 2015 adventure bike in my BMW R1200GS and will likely keep it. The nearest Harley dealer I can walk to while my "local" BMW was 75 miles away but closed, making my nearest dealer 140+ miles away...I salute Harley for coming up with what looks like a good, modern bike, something they badly needed.

So far I am impressed. This might be exactly what Harley needs. Keep it up!

So far I disagree. This might be the least Harley Davidson, Harley Davidson bike ever released. Don’t keep up the stupid claims!

If Harley stays their course and continues producing nothing but mega baggers they’re dead. This is a direct challenge to the BMW GS and it looks like HD has managed to donut right. Unlike the V-Rod where they wasted the opportunity.

I like that it's taken Harley years of corporate losses and impending doom, to finally drag a new model into the 21st century.

I own a Fatboy and a customized Street Glide special, I was excited about the Bronx, (still think they should make it), I did not like the look of the Pan American, however it has grown on me. Now with the Pan American debuted and all the specs and pricing, I’m really more interested in the Pan American! As a third bike it makes more sense for me. With off road ability, If I was going tour/camping, I’d would much rather take this on the road with no second thought. I’ll give a couple of years for all the bugs to get worked out, and then hmmm.

Pleasantly surprised by the spec's, I was not expecting such a fundamentally capable motor from H-D (was expecting a low rev limit and 100 hp at best). The rest of the package is not class leading but it's not lagging the pack either (and the higher performance options like the Multistrada V4S and KTM Super Adventure) have similar to much higher price tags) - it's a solid price/performance option by all appearances. Kudo's to H-D... and good luck launching your new platform.

Honestly this gets me excited for Harley as a company. If they make an upright semi naked based on this new chassis and sell it as a motorcycle and not a Harley I could see these competing with stuff like the MT10 and other hyper naked bikes on the market

That does seem like the aesthetic they were after... I can't say I think it's pretty but ADV bikes are an ugly crowd in general (but I still love them)... and it's a lot prettier than the KTM Super Adventure (one of the ugliest bikes on the road imo)

All it needed was CarPlay and AndroidAuto /:

You can still use it by downloading the app.

    • @kingdomfunding

@@hydroboy35ththe included display does not mirror the app. Your solution requires a phone mount on an adventure bike that jumps up and down on hard terrain.
The inter grated version would of allowed the rider to use CarPlay on the screen and use the controls on the handle bars to control it.
