*Love it! Keeps the room very **Fastly.Cool** . The manual states it comes with a year warranty and 5 year part replacement. The compressor makes the typical sound...small price to pay for AC.*

Thanks for this great video. Saved me a trip to the hardware store!
One quick addendum, for those having issue with the seeming "lack" of retraction. I spent about 30 minutes stuck here. The key is that the spring needs to be rotated a full 360 degrees clockwise - wound up, essentially - before you pop on the top cover. To do this, do *not* thread the chain through the exit hole yet, there wouldn't be room to wind it around inside. Wind it up first (nice and springy) with the chain outside, then thread the chain through the hole, continuing hold it down in place with a small flathead while you snap on the cover. Trust me, it'll feel "right" and you'll know when you've preloaded it correctly.
    Thanks again.

Eureka, I finally got it figured out. The spring has an in and out arm. The inside goes into the groove at the bottom of the green side with the tube like thing on the bottom of the switch. You have to wrap the chain counter clockwise and while holding the wrapped chain, insert the top part of the spring into the little groove in that white plastic part you just put a longer chain into, you will see the groove for the spring. (look at the bottom of that white plastic part first before you wrap it) I then turned the white part with the chain to match what "help 2 day" showed in his video. You will need to have a little flat screwdriver ready to hold the plastic chain part down while you put the black cap back on. I broke a tab on the one I was working on so it was easier. Then I put the top cap on and proceeded to wire it back in to the ceiling fan and OF COURSE I had the breaker to this fan OFF. Took me several times watching this video and trial and error but it can be done. whew. Also write down the wiring sequence before you take the switch out of the ceiling fan. Thanks help 2 day. I thought I would stroke out before I figured this out. persistence paid off

Thanks for this video. Very helpful and took me all of 15mins....but i can probably do it in half the time now.
I didn't have a tiny drill bit to pop the old chain out so I cut the chain leaving just the 2 in the slots and popped out with a small screw driver.
    Good to go! Thanks again.

I did a lot of scouring before I finally found your video. It would be helpful (and you may get more hits) if you have "4-speed" or "5 wire" included in your video title. Thanks so much for posting this!!!

Do you recall the wire colors to numbers on the zing ear switch?

The specs say...• Function: OFF,L-1,L-2-3-4,L-3-4,L-4...Does L-1 remain in contact thought the entire cycle until back to off?

How did you put back together to make sure the spring works? I am unable to get it to retract.

So you have to wind it in the same direction as the chain pulls so to will try to unwind and pull the chain back in only like 1 or 2 turns if I remember, it didn't take much.

I can't get the spring to preload. Any tips or could you show us how you did that part? I see it on Amazon for $10 but have it 95% fixed.

I have the same problem. IN fact I took out another switch that wasn't broken in another Hunter fan and now it's not right. All I did was find out how to put it back together. It isn't clicking and changing the speed anymore.

I bought a new one from Amazon that matched perfectly. Just replaced the green part and left the black part with the wiring intact. I believe the Hunter switches are poor quality and just wear out over use.

Sorry for the delay in response, also sorry for the confusion in the video you need to preload the plate in the opposite direction in order to get it to retract when the chain is pulled
