Jamey Johnson has good music and it should be played on the radio but it’s not. So I understand what he’s saying. He has a right to be pissed and to speak his mind. All radio stations are on a constant repeat of the same songs over and over and over. If you like listening to a variety of music you’re better off having XM Radio or a collection of CD’s because you won’t hear it on any average radio station.

Assuming this KX 96.9 is a contemporary country station, meaning it plays present day country and any real country music fan would know what absolute crap country is these days and has been between the last 10 and 15 years now and they should know he had every right to be upset about them strolling onto his stage to promote their station and their music, without Jamey's permission being that he was(I'm presuming)the main star of the show and in the outlaw country genre and not bro country.

Years ago Jamey had a construction company. He was working on a roof in the rafters down by Mobile AL. It was after a hurricane. He got tired of all of the repetitive music on the station they had playing. So he got down and tried finding a better station. Well with no luck, he wasn't able to. He got to thinking, I've got around 200 songs that are better than this. So when they finally finished the job he said I'm done with construction. He already knew a bunch of people in the music industry. He finally took our advice and tried to break out. Well the rest is fantastic history. But when we the listeners don't get to hear that awesome music he wrote and sings. He hears about it from so many people. It will always take a toll. So if all of the main streams would play songs that are worthy, this would never have happened. I think that we need a new country station. One that plays country music. Not pop country. Now you can have a cross over artist. But each song must be submitted and then voted in. Voted in as pure country sound.

I agree! There are no stations that call themselves Country that actually plays country anymore. They remove the local DJs and cram the syndicated crap down our throats, screw Bobby Bones! Recently my car had a serious battery drain and they found it was the amplifier to my radio, I wasn't paying for a replacement with no warranty for my 2001 Tahoe so I now have no radio and I don't miss it at all since the stations I could get here in NC played rap crap and called it country! I guess I will just enjoy my phone music.

People wan to hear traditional country like Jamey Johnson,Alan Jackson and many more too. I listen to Spotify nowadays and you can bet Jamey Johnson and many like him are all over my play lists.

As someone who always dreamed of being on the radio and now working in a top ten radio market, this stung a bit. But for those who say that single radio stations themselves are solely responsible for the current climate of mainstream country, it’s not just radio. Radio is just the outlet that it’s presented in. The issue at hand is much, much higher up and change needs to start from there first.

I wasn’t grateful enough to appreciate country music in my younger days but damn it was so much better back then, and I truly missed out. • @stef1lee

This is not unusual for J.J. We went to see J.J. at Nutty Jerry's in Winnie, TX some time back. He snubbed an entire Hall that paid an extravagant amount of money to see him. Not once did he even acknowledge the crowd or anyone. He came out, played for about an hour or so and hauled tail. While he isn't under any commitment to stand by and shake hands with fans and autograph memorabilia, a lot of folks don't quite appreciate spending hard earned money that could have been allocated elsewhere, for an individual that seemed to be "put out" but still accepting those funds. Outlaw or not...a simple "Thank You" goes a long way. He's not in prison anymore and he doesn't have to put on being hard for us. A lot of us know the struggle and reach for his music to help those hard times. Good luck to him and safe travels.

  • @BOHUNTER

Jamey has a reason to say that about stations. It’s all corporate, the music industry “Shelved all my songs” and screwed JJ out of Millions. So the radio station is the last step in the process but the first to bring the new FGL, Sam Hunt or Morgan Wallen. They are told what to spin and when JJ got out of his contract he stopped feeding the monster.

The stations are lucky to even get away with calling themselves ‘country music stations’. The main stations where I live have a list of about, maybe 20 songs, that they play on a loop all day and all night. It takes maybe a day or two at most with these stations playing n the background before I know every word to every one of those songs. It just gets beat into ur head, over and over and over, and it’s basically pop music with a very faint sound of country.
