Congratulations Lillie, you have obviously worked hard to get where you are, and more power to EDF for giving you the opportunity to progress. The country needs more engineers and construction workers like you. 👏
Well Lilly, I live in Suffolk, I worked at Sizewell 'A' as an industrial cleaner. Power stations are fascinating places to work. I can say to people I was lucky enough to get to stand on top of the pile cap of an operating Nuclear reactor, see the massive gas circulator motors, Go down in the used fuel ponds. I was lucky to have an R4/C4 clearance and could go anywhere in the station, including the MCR! We will welcome you to come with your knowledge and experience and build Sizewell 'C'
hello from France Lillie , great job ! the other good news is that the Flamanville EPR is connected to the network since last week, this gives confidence in the EPR technology.
Very inspiring! We need many more nuclear reactors with large output like Hinkley. I still don’t understand, however, why EDF chose the advanced European design of reactor that caused so much trouble, delay and additional expense in Finland and Cherbourg. And as for our stupid government relying on Chinese finance! What’s wrong with European finance? Better yet, British finance.
EDF are wearing the massive cost overruns, but since they have a contract to operate for 35 years, receiving an eye-wateringly high fixed price for any electricity produced (indexed for inflation), they will probably do all right in the long run. It's the consumers who will get screwed.
It would have been better value for money if the UK government focused on deep retrofitting the country's building stock for maximum insulation and heatwave proofing, installing and expanding district heating with industrial heat pumps, full electrification of all buses and railway and finally maximum expansion of wind, solar, grid batteries and transmission before deciding if Nuclear is needed.
Negative nanny, the fixed prices are only 15 yrs and there a lot lower then the prices seen these years. Not only will these provide clean energy, it will UKs energy and prices will not peak so much and will be lower for the users.
@@ferkeapbeing devil's advocate... Not a single ounce (gram if you prefer) of nuclear waste has been properly disposed of. Uranuim mines aren't too "clean" either, but that will improve as mining equipment switches to electricity. The "nuclear is clean" argument is a fair way from watertight. It's pretty close though.

@@MrDavidht The UK spent £1 billion curtailing 6.7 TWh of wind electricity due to transmission constraints. Offshore wind is £70 per MWh, and Onshore wind and solar is £60-70 range. Smart demand control, vehicle-to-grid alongside cheaper sodium-ion batteries and the use of concrete blocks to store energy in gravitational potential energy and address intermittency and curtailment problems and still be cheaper than nuclear.
Great stuff. I hope Sizewell isn’t the last one, and we can get at least one up here to replace Hunterston or Torness, so we can shut down the grime spewing Peterhead.
Just catching the last few words from this lady only to find that her Grandad, father also worked on that site gives me a reflection of its who you know than what you know being similar to joining Free Masonry. We have a similar company in Slough called Mars but the locals call it the Willie Wonker factory and again only employing family members into cushy jobs and ignoring the rest of the indeginous population either forced into working through agency and on zero hour contracts.
@MrDavidht No I attended a meeting at Mars and two ladies running the seminar all confessed that their parents worked for Mars and that's how they got recruited. 15 years ago a job advert for Mars appeared in the Slough Observer the ad goes my Grandad worked for Mars, my Dad worked for Mars and now I'm an apprentice for Mars it's not tripe .
No one in my family has ever worked building nuclear power stations. I worked on HPC for 4 years and SZC for 2. There is no conspiracy to only hire family legacy. The apprentices that I supported during my time on HPC are now thriving due to proper on the job training and opportunities they have created for themselves by working hard and learning a trade. I'd recommend not commenting on what you know nothing about.
I always wonder how is that possible that in the country where people can't build a normal house properly where most of the roads have a potholes like in Africa they building a nuclear power station 😮 As we know Chinese pay for the Plant. They will decide how much the energy will cost.
Let's hope you're house doesn't get compulsory purchased like land and home's in 4 parishes up river because Hinckley point won't fit the accoustic fish deterrent. And need to mitigate the deaths of over 182 million every year. They will take our land without our consent to make salt marshes that won't work. Are you aware of what the business you work for do?
Who bank rolled your house, because I’m self employed and my partners a manager and we still cant afford our over inflated rent in West Sussex let alone save, energy and £1200 annual rent increase on CC! The energy company’s must be rolling in it
Bare in mind that the whole planet is also being destroyed by us pumping gas/coal ash into the atmosphere, thereby making the climate worse and increasing massive storms and weather events? Do you want that to continue happening? For us all to get fucked over by our selfish, irresponsible and primitive actions? Renewables and nuclear are the way forward to electrify everything without dirtying our planet.
The night aerial view of the whole construction site is something amazing.
Twinkly point.
The electricity bill must be enormous. I hope they know a good supplier.

Who knows with dei now, it's hard to believe they get there merit now.
Last name thompson her dads high up in management. Be a manager her self soon👀
Good to realy emphasize the scale of good jobs created, skills gained and not only environmental benefits. Great video and good job GB!
Awesome Journey, Awesome Story, Awesome Job! Keep going! The UK needs 10 of these!!!
Great achievement for green and clean energy

I'm a coded welder making power transfer brackets for this project. Nuclear standards are something else.

Better to have these rather than wind power

A job to be proud of. 👌👍
Brilliant! Well done 👏

Copy and paste 12 times over, reduced build times and cost as experience increases. Energy crisis solved.
Id love to work on that site
Hi everyone, i am pipefitter and looking foward to start at Hinkley poimt. Does anybody know how to get there?
Fantastic vid Lilly :-)
Good for you. Well done.

Cheers!!!!! MASSIVE PROGRESS!!!!!!!! unfortunately different language subtitles are not available
Amazing!
Well done
I did the RAPP Rajasthan tried for Hinkley Point C...biggest problem for an expat is clearance...
2:53 - *nuclear reactor pressure vessel
THIS is the future.^^^^^^
the future is fusion.....only 30 years away they say
James Watt gets credit for the steam engine. But in 20 -30 bc a man calles Hero in Greece made an engine called an aeolipile.
Never heard of an apprentice walking into a supervising role 🤷♂️
Women privilege.
6 year apprenticeship? 😅 2018 was a while ago now...
Nothing more constructive or positive to contribute nah?
Did you not hear? Daddy’s the construction manager.
💪
Will it actually work 😮
Yes.

Made in France, assembled in England.
No rush, might as well make it the longest construction project in history.
Also crazy over budget
IF it wasn't for woman engineers what would we all do :)
China is way better 😂😂😂😂 and faster.

Her story or the construction of the plant? Do you not have anything more positive to add here?
Totally agree, this video was about self promotion, nothing else

Saddling the future with expensive electricity and forever decommissioning costs and now this rubbish to give it some shine .
Take your bs somewhere else bro
It's either this or a billion unrealible wind turbines
You have no idea how this works and just want to spread misinformation. 😅

That's wind and solar you are talking about.
