I make great scones but i can tell you a knife is the best for mixing your scones as it keeps them lighter and another hint is adding extra baking powder to your flour makes them lighter as well - i never handle my scones i just mix with knife and tip it out on bench with a little sprinkle of flour and i put flour on my hands and i pat it out and cut the scones although my scones are wetter then the ones you are making, as i like a wet dough for scones - never use a rolling pin, just pat it out with your hands and cut them out - I have been making scones since i was 12 years old and I am 71 years old and i make great scones that are light as a feather. Although i have been making sponges and cakes and other desserts since i was 12 years of age and i love cooking so much.
Hi Bridget, love your tips and this scone recipe. So what I do is mix all together, then out flatten with my hand till quite flatish.... less than 1 inch. Cut with a small cutter, dip in egg mixture or milk and bake them in my silicone cups. I get between 20 and 24. And boy do they rise .... they are such a hit with family and friends and they love the smaller size 😊😉💕thank u💕
Didn’t know we had to place them scones closer together because they help each other to rise...awesome tip for me since I’d been placing them apart...thanks kindly for all the extra tips as well ...will definitely try it out your way ...cheers
I have just make your scones using Ginger Ale and raisins they turned out absolutely delicious so easy to make l have made lots of different Scones over the years and can honestly say your Scones are the easiest quickest best tasting so will definitely share your recipe Thank you for sharing your recipes and all your tips.👍🏻😄🤗
I tried these scones. They really worked well. Best scones I have ever made. I now love making scones. I am going to try fruit and some with raspberry & white chocolate. I will let you know how I get on! Thanks Internet Chef, you are an excellent presenter!
These look wonderful. Can you let me know the actual amount of ingredients please. I am in UK and never know how many grams are in your cup size etc. If you can tell me how much cream and flour used plus then size of sprite that would be so useful. I’d love to make these!
I like her style with measuring n stuff. Casual n natch..kinda how i bake and works as long as measurements are not too off in the states we call 7up/sprite etc it lemon lime pop or soda. Lemonade a diff animal.
Thank you for sharing! I didn't have the same ingredients, but I used my own recipe and applied these techniques. It's easily the best scones I ever made. Thank you so much!!!
I got this recipe from a Tupperware Dealer many years ago and they were the only scones I have ever had success with. I lost the recipe so thank you so much for this Video. I will try it with -preheating my baking dish - is there a reason for this? Even without the accent, "Runny Cream" is so Kiwi. Thanks.
Does it matter if you don’t use a carbonated lemonade? Also if I don’t have self raising flour? And can you substitute almond and coconut flours to make it keto friendly? Thank you!
I have loved the idea of making scones since we were in Europe. No one here makes them but I love Europeanthings and ways of cooking, I do not have a scone cutter, may buy one, but will use a cup. Will leave a comment after I make these. I have no cream right now. Thanks from Mississippi, USA! Will be in UK later this year!
These are the best scones. In New Zealand we use self rising flour as opposed to all purpose flour. We call Sprite or 7-Up lemonade. A must keep recipe. Thank you Bridget for all the tips. Every time I made them. it's always a success!!
I Bridget, Tried your scones.Fantastic!! My grand kids loved them In fact we all did.I shall never go to all the trouble of Rubbing in etc again.thank you and greetings from Scotland.
at last I can make scones .... thank u for putting this on here. When I first made them a few years ago.....I rolled them out too flat , at least this way I see my mistake I made, this is really light and fluffy now. Been trying to make for 50 years .....till this came out ;) :)
The best scones I ever had were in Ireland. These look even better than those, so I am definitely trying this recipe. Thanks for sharing your gran's baking wisdom!
YUM!!! This was my first time visiting Your channel and I loved this easy recipe. I also did subscribe to Your Channel for more!!! I am going to go out and buy either some Sprite like You used or a "Classic American" drink called Squirt! I don't know if You have ever drank a Squirt but I love it! It has a more lemony or tart flavor if You ask Me. Anyway, thank You for sharing this recipe with Us. It LOOKS DELICIOUS!!! Happy Holidays!!! 😊🎄⛄️❄️🎁
I have been making this recipe for years now, and I love it, but have never used a heated tray for the baking. I will certainly try that. Thanks for sharing.
I personally would only use the heated tray when not using butter as they will collapse. But this recipe looks great and will work well with the heated tray as there is nothing to melt within.
well....I have just made these scones and they are fab!!!!!! been trying different recipes for ages and this is so easy as well as tasty. I will try to make them with fruit next time. Thanksx
I made these today for the second time to take for morning tea and they were much loved! The only thing I did differently was shape the dough and then cut each piece with a knife as I didn't have a cutter. I think I would use a knife in future too as there was no wastage :).
OMG, just made these today. I usually make cheese scones from the Edmonds cook book but these were next level good. I have never made a scone this light and fluffy before. Had them with fresh cream and strawberry jam. Thank you for recipe. Outstanding👍
thank you Bridget....tried this long ago but it came out flat. So watched your video ..... best scone now. saw what I did wrong, this the only thing I could never make :) :) ;)
..... aaaand..... do you think the lemonade would activate the flour enough for me to omit the baking powder? I tend to use plain spelt for all cooking (allergies to baking powder in household) :O)
Thanks for the video Bridget... I've tried your scone and although I get what looks like a beautifully cooked scone they are not baking properly on the bottom, do you have any suggestions please.
Love your recipe Bridget! Can’t wait to try it! Question for you...if I wanted to try a savoury version like say, a cheese scone...would I still use half & half or not? Thx! Michele from Peterborough, Ontario.
I've made this recipe before, and they turned out OK but after watching all of your tips and tricks the batch I just made turned out fantastic - so light and fluffy and delicious thanks heaps for all the advice!! I think resting the dough made a big difference, and also the way they're cut out. I don't have a cutting ring so just used a cup and they still came out really great - it's amazing how much they rise from 2.5cm thick! Much love from Wellington :-)
so glad I came across this ....love it. Been trying to make a decent scone for 50 years until now. I just find the dough very soft so bake them in silicone cups they rise so high cant believe it :) :)thank u again
Just made these and they are fantastic, the only thing I didn't have was a strait edge cutter so had use the fluted ones and they still turned out great, wish I could include a photo of them here. So quick and easy too Thank you will be making these from now on :-)
Can you use real lemonade,( lemon, sugar, water only)... or does it need the Sprite or other flavor soda for the bubbles?... Thanks!....I am super excited to try this, but have no drinking soda right now, but.... I was thinking, that I could add approx. One teaspoon to one teaspoon and a half of baking soda or powder, to replace the soda bubbles if it needs a bit of a lift ?

Very good results. I have never before used a heated pan. Background music too loud. Directions clear and easy Thanks

These look wonderful. Can you let me know the actual amount of ingredients please. I am in UK and never know how many grams are in your cup size etc. If you can tell me how much cream and flour used plus then size of sprite that would be so useful. I’d love to make these!
Kiaora. Thanks so much for this recipe. I’ve used it many times. People love these scones and it reminds me of home. Kiwi here, living in Norway. ❤️

I also used a clay pampered chef 9 by 13, not a metal pan. Would this make a difference with them rising
Love everything about this recipe......from the shaking the dry ingredients to the lift music...........classic 👌
I'm looking forward to making them if I don't want the lemon flavor should I use plain soda water? Thanks, Anna Maria
I absolutely love "bread scones" with honey butter. I do think I will try these.
Great recipe and demonstration Bridget.

You have given us great pointers especially how to cut the scones I never knew to do it fast and not to twist so it rises better Thankyou
Tried this recipe several years ago and you get amazing, delicious, tender scones. So easy to make!
Cracking up at the ‘level cup’ and then just dumping the flour bag with a varied amount! Baking obviously doesn’t need to be too precise 🤭
Thank you Bridget - best and easiest scone ever.
Looks wonderful

Throw some clotted cream and some berry jam on those...yum
I’d add some finely short shredded lemon peel
Just made these and they are fantastic, the only thing I didn't have was a strait edge cutter so had use the fluted ones and they still turned out great, wish I could include a photo of them here. So quick and easy too Thank you will be making these from now on :-)
I’m trying to figure out her accent! She sometimes sounds American/Canadian, and then sometimes Australian. Can’t wait to try this!
What a beautiful and special way to bake scones 😀loved it and will try thank you 🤗
Can you use real lemonade,( lemon, sugar, water only)... or does it need the Sprite or other flavor soda for the bubbles?...
