Dude! Welcome to trailer ownership! Stoked you guys have a little travel home now. Scope the base areas around the camper and foam any openings to keep mice out. They suck and will tear things apart! Also, unless you're getting rid of the black tank totally, then watch out for pyramiding (google it if you don't know) and leave that tank closed til youre ready to dump. Oh and don't forget about if you've got sewer line hooked up in cold weather, the stuff sitting in the line will freeze. I've had to learn a lot of stuff the hard way, lol. Camper life will certainly make you look forward to going back to a real house, but is also awesome in itself.
Great tips, Tony!! We already had some pyramiding 💩, even with the valve closed. Man, I wish I could rip out the RV toilet and replace it with a real one, but it's not as simple as a home. Might have to set up some smart water flush thing with the black tank!
@bkxc yeah it's a whole different way of life. Like you said in the vid, thankful for modern indoor plumbing. Don't leave the fart fan on while flushing either. No bueno!
@@bkxc I know you worked really hard on the toilet issue, but If the plumbing really becomes an issue, you can take out the RV toilet and replace it with a full size compost toilet. I know its not ideal but its an option.
Nice Sir! Glad y'all are enjoying the trailer. One tip - before the rains start, at least check, and maybe re-seal *all* the edges and joints on the roof and above any windows and doors. $15 worth of lap seal will add years to the life of the trailer.
We have a 2020 Keystone Hideout and the layout is exactly like this! 6 months living now and it's so comfortable! Never thought I'd live the RV life but its awesome!
Congratulations! If you have not already, try to rodent proof the trailer as much as you can. Sticky traps everywhere will help. Still wool in any cracks large than a dime.
Congrats Brian and Sarah! Looks great. We’ve been living full time and traveling the country in our travel trailer for almost 5 years. 😀 Hope to visit the Everstoke at some point. It is on our list.
Awesome video Brian! Great idea to get a trailer while you build something more permanent. Also great idea to get an EV. You can just plug in your trailer into Ionic, it’s basically a portable power station.
Congratulations Brian, really happy for the both of you and I can't wait to see uploads on the improvements you both make. Did I miss if you already sold the Van yet? If you haven't yet and are planning to, it could be really cool idea to open it up to selling to patrons before selling on the open market?
Dang I seriously want to make the road trip from Texas to come camp at Everstoke and ride EVERYTHING! I have a nice rooftop tent on my pickup and hopefully I’ll be getting a new bike soon! And those Hyundai Ioniq cars seem really cool, I say go for it!
Nice Setup Brian If you haven't been clued in yet, what you are looking for is a soft start kit for your RV's AC. There is a plethora of info here on YT.
Definitely something we could add, but at the moment it's not much of a problem but that little initial spike. If it becomes one then I'll spend the $400!
Very Cool...good for you and Sarah. Nice purchase. I was talking to Aaron about you, Seth, and Alex getting together at EVERSTOKE sometime to ride there and hang out.
That was such a great video. So much real life stuff going on. Please start another channel documenting this as you push into winter. Really interesting to see how you get on. Keep doing what you do ❤
Congrats on getting into an RV. To extend the roof life and to help cooling, build a hard roof over the RV. I know it's another expense, but it'll pay for itself in the long run. The vinyl and the sealer on the roof will dry out quicker when exposed to continuous weather, It'll also keep the leaves and pine needles off of the roof that ants like to live in.
Making good progress. Might want to build a shelter over the RV, the roof isn't really made to hold a couple feet of Sierra cement. You could mount solar panels on top and it would provide shade in the summer. Careful about opening the can of worms that comes with permitted work, it might entail getting much of the work you've already done retroactively permitted. Not sure how strict Plumas county is but the building department in Nevada County is a P.I.T.A. to deal with.
@@bkxc if you’re going to put up a platform, might as well make it wide enough for 2 55-gal tanks and them up in parallel to get even more water pressure.
I'm sure Aaron is losing his mind that you aren't considering a Tesla. LOL! Congrats on the trailer. It totally makes sense and seems like a great upgrade from the van.
Hahaha, yep! I think the Model Y is the best car out there, but they're making a new one next year. I'm ready to get rid of the van and move on to something else short term

Nice upgrade from the Van!!! They have their benefits but nothing makes your life more "normal" on the road than a house on the road with you lol. Battery backup system though I'm not sure im on board there yet. $3300 to only get 4hrs of A/C run time and then you need to charge is tough. I know solar panels can help supplement but thats another larger investment. and each additional battery seems to be about $1100... We just havent gotten there yet for me. My predator 5000w Generator will run nearly silently for an entire day on 3gal of gas, or $9..... and i got it for only $600. just hard to beat that for the money. I get being green but hard to justify just yet for me.
@bkxc Its definitely a good generator! I would love to go full electric one day, and eventually im sure i will. Hope you get as much enjoyment out of your camper as my family does ours!!!
Hey Brian, we met in Knoxville during Redemption 17. I don’t wanna sound like another Tesla nut but my wife and I have extremely enjoyed our Model Y for the past four years. We have a hitch rack but for cross country road trips we have fit up to five bikes in the back of the cabin (for aerodynamics). There is a sub-trunk where you can take the bike front wheel off and put the front forks in there. Allowing you to stack the bikes vertically in the back. The most we’ve gotten inside the Model Y is three 29ers and two gravel bikes. Leaves the big front trunk for helmets and gear.
That is too cool! I never thought about pulling off the front wheel and stashing it away! I really, really love the Teslas as well, I just don't want to pull the trigger until the new refresh. The longer I can wait, the better they will get!
@ Yeah the refresh Model Y interior and rear light bar will be cool. After traveling across the country a dozen times, I just have to say every public fast charging experience besides Superchargers is awful. A lot of the new Superchargers allow other EVs though. A lot of times you’ll be charging 5+ times a day on a long trip and dealing with the third party apps of non-superchargers just makes it all the worse. Four years ago we would have to get into some intense logistics getting to some of the MTB trails but not so much these days. However, with FSD we just relax and the car goes from Supercharger to Supercharger without us having to worry about much. Ha what am I saying I haven’t been to a public charger in two months or a gas station in four years! Fill up the battery every night at home haha. A few days ago we had a Cybertruck for a day and I would imagine the powershare feature would really benefit you at Everstoke. But we aren’t trading in the Y for the CT $$$$$. Hoping CT comes down another $10k. The Y just has so much utility. We even drove the Iceland Highlands in the Model Y… a lot of the same roads used in the Cybertruck promotion. I recommend looking at a used Y with the used EV tax credit. Maybe another year before the US gets the Y refresh. F150⚡️has a good battery sharing system and decent prices but not great for road trips.. Government Motors Silverado EV… It always comes back to Tesla due to the amazing integration. Just facts. Idk about going all electric. I'm telling you, we made the switch to a Nissan Leaf and we're absolutely regretting it. Not enough charging stations, a*$holes leaving their cars for hours and hours at a station when their car is done but no one else can park and use it. Long many hour roadtrips? Thanks!
Never would have thought that you play Fortnite , cool lol
Oh yeah, still not very good after 8 years
Congratulations, but I think your power supply costs more than your trailer. 🤣🤣🤣
Hahahaha, no way!
Don't get a car!!
Get a Pickup truck!!!
Tacoma Off Road, Corolado ZR2, Jeep Gladiator, etc...
No more gas engines for me!
Dang. I grew up in a trailer and was bullied for it. Didn't have any close friends because I couldn't bring anyone home. Hate seeing the term "trailer trash". Then you have youtube mountain biker here living the life and making a joke out of it.
Maybe time to start an overland build and continue getting terrible gas mileage? Haha jk
Hahaha, in the spirit of bad gas mileage!!
@@bkxc 🤣🤣
Thanks for calling me trash. I grew up in a trailer we were poor but that doesn’t mean we are trash. I bet you call Hondas rice burners also.
You might not be trash, but we are!
Lol trailer trash. Now you have to buy more stuff to fill all the storage holes!
Hahaha, exactly!
You can find a work truck version of the Chevy Silverado with close to 400 miles of range for $55,000 . A EV truck may benefit you more over a car .
Oh nice, I haven't looked into the Silverados much!
@@bkxc Another advantage in your case it can be used to power your travel trailer or other power requirements on the property . You don't need to carry a power station around . The truck is your power station. My son recently got a Ford lightning and it's a great truck but the range is a bit light
Trailer Trash 🤣🤣🤣😂omg … far from it, Trailer Royalty!
We're living the dream!
first comment lol
Welcome!
Congrats Brian!! The Lost Sierra has wine too. @lostsierrawineco
But of course!! Thanks so much
