Ya I agree about this song and the credit it gets....when you're in the car and you hear this song .....you cant deny it. You step on the pedal take a look around and the world doesn't seem so bad. We are all gonna make it...so cheers yall......turn it up
I saw him at The Summit in Houston in 95 or 96. Probably the best show I've seen. No pyrotechnics, no blood spitting, no fire breathing (which has its place!), just outstanding players. Some trivia for folks not familiar with Houston, The Summit is now Joel Olsteen's Lakewood Church. I think he bought it from a REIT that owned Greenway Plaza at the time. Thanks!
You’re easily one of my favorite TH-cam guitar personality’s there ever was. I will always be in awe of how you always study the instrument it’s self and make all these riffs still seem foundational and just a blast. Be loved, be safe.
Always interesting to hear your perspective on guitar tunes. I have heard this song over the years but never tried playing it until now and you are right on about the rhythm groove - much harder than it sounds. Many thanks for flagging this one.
Brilliant lesson ta Love the iconic Fillmore West Tee shirt. I’m from the UK, never got to either Fillmore. Was too young. I google bands playing there, including Ten years after. Loved them. One of our iconic venues was The Rainbow in North London. My first gig was David Bowie doing Ziggy in 1972. I saw the Doobies there, plus the original Lynryd skynrd. Spelt that wrong, plus loads of other bands. Sadly a religious outfit owns it now. Loved small venues, not so keen on the big outdoor ones
This song captures the essence of Hollywood from an outsider's perspective, not unlike "Hotel California," which has lyrics by the Texan Don Henley (and guitar by Seger's friend and fellow Michigan native, Glenn Frey).
@@markcameron318 it's an easy two finger chord. that one you just basically put sure index finger on the a string second fret and either use your pinky which is the easiest or you could use your ring finger on the G string the fourth fret and let all six strings ring.
Very rarely post on TH-cam but this is Outstanding, love the channel, been following you since PT. days. Thank you and please keep up the great work. From Melton Mowbray in the UK
Around these parts I think it fell victim to overplay as it was an FM/AM crossover and now neither claim it as their own ! Thanks for spotlighting such a great rhythm piece !
You crack me up dude. I never know what little musical gem you’re going to surprise us with. What’s next? Butchie’s Tune by Lovin Spoonful? If nothing else, one thing I’m sure of after watching your channel(s) for several years: you have impeccable taste in music.
According to a couple sources David Teegarden played both drum parts, first one, then the other. Drew Abbott is credited as the guitarist, but we know that Seger often played instruments uncredited, so he may have been on the track.
I’ve been watching your videos for years and I’ve never thought to ask but I’m curious: what do you use for the audio on your videos? Do you use a DAW and upload the file to TH-cam? Thanks!
This really is a gem of a song and Bob Segar (still touring) is one of Americas finest artists, bar none !!
Thanks for the upload it's made my day.

Many thanks for reminding me how great this song is - I remember being blown away with it some 40+ years ago - just as I was today !!
The Silver Bullet Band is the best. The drumming on this song is like my all time favorite.
Talk about locked in the pocket. Sheee-it!

Hey it's that James James guy i watch on TH-cam.
So cool! Goosebumps, all feel✌😎
My Hand Hurts Just Watching
Great Playin!!!
Seger's best tune imho...the bass lines are so good too

Man that's a beautiful Les Paul!🤘
Tkx, you’re invaluable for your work.
Really nailed this one JJ...excellent...
You're a genius JJ!! Simple, but not necessarily easy. Thanks!

Glenn Frey - guitar solo on "Till It Shines"
I think it's pretty cool when you throw in bits of trivia! Right on!
It was Bob that played guitar on this one!
Mark Chadfield played live on Hollywood Nights. Bob used alot of session players in the studio.
Bob went to Alabama to record, I highly recommend the Muscle Shoals documentary.
I can never get that E5 chord right. You use it in When Will I Be Loved (if I recall correctly) and I struggled with it then. Sigh

Good Job!
Awesome lesson thanks 👍🙏

Beautiful playing man.
Awesome James. Great taste in music and your right it’s gonna take a bit to get it down. Thanks

nice job....
seger doesn't allow tabs...thanks for figuring this one out for us...
That's doing your skills a favor. Once you figure it out by listening and tabbing it yourself you will likely never forget it!
Fun song thanks!
Thanks JJ
Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section! Wouldn't be surprised if this was a Jimmy Johnson part.
This was Drew Albert on guitar, Bob recorded this album in Hollywood & Muscle Shoals.
@@michaelgallagher3640 Abbot. however a lot of stuff also featured Pete Carr.
Realy great thanks
There's something satisfying about that E5 chord in that form...
I believe the player was Drew Abbott....I saw him play live at a bar not knowing who he was......wow....great player and I told him so....
Found out the guitarist for Seger’s Silver Bullet band was Drew Abbott. BUT. The guitarist on Hollywood Nights was none other than -- Glen Frey!
Really ?...wow
that doesn't surprise because all that lead guitar work on the classic till it shines from the Same album was Glenn.
Nice guitar 👍
Nice!
Awsum..thanks man
Coolest shirt I’ve ever seen where’d you get it?
I made it.
I’ve been watching your videos for years and I’ve never thought to ask but I’m curious: what do you use for the audio on your videos? Do you use a DAW and upload the file to TH-cam? Thanks!
I think the audio goes straight from the camera..
@@beakmann that’s interesting. Probably saves him a ton of time editing and getting it right. Just a one take cover.
Great as always. May I ask where you got that fantastic T shirt?
I made it.
@@jamesjames9275 If you make more and they're cotton, I'll buy one.
I've got to work on those shapes. I find some of them chords difficult to play, especially that D shape. I've been playing regular E A D E.
Did t the stampers record that album.
The drums distracted me in the beginning when I first started playing this one at gigs.
Sounds like the swampers .
Don't know if Drew Abbot is the guitarist here, but he was a very good player.
Awesome. What system are you using for the backing track?
I thought it was drew Abbott on guitar in silver bullet.
Do you still hate Whitesnake?
Never realized, the verses are almost a ska feel. New Les Paul? Don’t remember this one ☝️
..I'm thinking most or a lot of those songs were recorded at Muscle Shoals , by Session players ..
Wonder how common the main 3 chord riff being in the same position is?
Beatles, All Together Now. :)
What is the tuning, did you ever get a name for it? Thanks in advance
Standard, but slightly up.
I didn’t know you got a new LP. Year?
2009. Got it a couple months ago.
@@jamesjames9275 it’s pretty.
I picked up a classic last month. My first LP. Love it.
I believe the eagles did the guitar.
Bob Seger is everything Bruce Springsteen pretends to be.
