I followed Shannon on tiktok as she was starting out on her caddy build, she’s actually the reason why I wanted to give it a go and why I’m typing this currently led on my bed in my van that I converted because of her, so thank you Shannon! All the best ✌️🤟
I follow several Van channels . The one's with everything under the sun fitted are great and I like them , but they always seem to be fixing and up-grading endlessly . The simply fitted out one's , have all they require and seem to spend their time enjoying the life . Horses for courses , fortunately we are all different , so enjoy what makes you happy . What a lovely inspiration! Currently 43 years old, divorced, paying £1400 a month just to rent my flat… seriously looking into this life, tired of conforming to times and doing what is expected of me… societal norms - it’s boring! 🤦🏻♀️ Currently falling in love with the idea of van life… much love everyone… 💚🙏🏼💚xx
Same, 45, split from a 19 year relationship 2 years ago and i am seriously thinking about. I am fed up with having no money to enjoy life, working just to pay bills etc
Some people would pay $500 a week for that space ( especially in Japan, NY etc) & here we have another example of pretty much free living. Awesome job 👍👍👍
What a fantastic life philosophy Shannon has ,iv'e learnt more about van life in the last 20 minutes than in all the other videos iv'e watched combined , a true inspiration great stuff 👍😊
Shannon has the right attitude and approach. She's done great on a shoestring budget. Older vans are more serviceable than modern ones (especially the finicky Mercedes)
Perfect layout, in my opinion! Love absolutely everything about her van, and it's so inspiring to see yet another person who built a van without knowing what they were doing. We can all do this! 💪
Superb...I actually have the same van...amazing what you can achieve ..creating a comfortable space...above all is the sense of freedom..you can wake up in one place...and take your home with you to another place....that's a beautiful thing.....and a great alternative way of living......❤👍
This is a wonderful layout. I have to agree that if I should go back to sticks and bricks, I'll keep it minimal. A bed, a table and chair with plants everywhere! I've been living 3 months in my minivan. I have not yet gone back to storage looking for anything. I have everything I need because you need a whole lot less. ~ 🦋
I love your van , you did an amazing job .what a clever young lady you are. I've camped on and off most of my life i would be happy to live in your van its beautiful enjoy your self😮 take care. One thing get a dog. Great company.
Don't get a dog, despite company. Many places like National Parks won't allow dogs. They severely restrict what you can do, as they can't be left in vehicles and often vans etc, when you want to do things. Carefully think this through. We were soooo restricted
Fake lock's! Yes! As a solo female vanner thats a fab tip. Im not one for regrets, but I cant help wishing I had Shannon's mindset in my 20's! But its never too late and doing this in your mid-50's brings its own rewards. Thanks for another fab vlog you pair of awsome humans and good luck to Shannon on her journey 🙏 Tracy 👐
Superb build. As a 57 year old man who has built things all my life I was so impressed by what was achieved in this build. I also discovered 2 things: inverter to charge my power station and fake van locks both of which I will be implementing in my van. Thank you.
@@ShannonLawford Cheers Shannon. Is your inverter wired directly to your car battery or do you plug it in the cigarette lighter socket? Either way, what wattage are you getting into your power bank? Sorry to keep messaging. Andrew
@@handmadeinyorkshire5887 it’s a 500watt inverter that’s connected to the starter battery, mines inside which is useful! It charges the power station at about 450 watts
THAT is what I want! There are so many high-end vans for sale now for $30K and up. First, I'll never see that kind of $$, and second,, I want to design it myself! You did a great job. Thanks for sharing.
Good simple build, well done with the tools on hand. I have a transit custom and would love a larger transit. Use mine for traveling and camping, I could easily do it full time, wife no way......🤣🤣🤣
Getting lonely in a van if you're on your own is certainly a hazard. I lived in a Citreon Berlingo for six years and have recently 'upgraded' to an even smaller Citreon C1 car - which I adore! Obviously I have no choice but to be alone in the car. But I live in it in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight, my home town, where I know loads of people. I work from cafes and have regular coffees with locals. So I don't feel alone at all. One often lives from a vehicle, rather than in it - out more than in. Wouldn't swap this lifestyle for anything (well, maybe a larger van if I meet someone and end the solo way!). Anyway, great video and great van build
Nice van. I've lived in my tranny for 5 yrs now. I can't ever go back to renting. I eventually found a field to park on so I'm not worried about finding park ups. Now I've grounded my van on the field and bought a little car to go adventure away camping. Ive left my van in a field to live because I was paranoid she would get stolen and I'd have no home. But this life is awesome so keep having a great time and stay well
Thank you for this ,,,,,,,,,i hope to live like this soon............once a very unhappy stressed very Successful Businessman,,,,,,,,,,,,i want simple life and be happy and healthy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,David in lreland
So much respect. And makes sense. Do it simple and on a budget. I don’t have any skills to build one, and having spent so much (not by Campervan standards but by our budget) to get a van…. Now I’m always super stressed as to anything going wrong with the mechanics. Well played
She's class. Takes some balls to do what she does but i reckon once you're into it you never look back. That layout, to me, if brilliant. Simple with hassle. Great camera work as always by the way. Great how you let people talk without butting in. Great channel
@ShannonLawford I just want to say, what an excellent job you've done on your van conversion. It looks lovely, very minimalist, and also very practical. I'm thinking about trying out the van life; I'm 71 and have been renting my whole life. Rents and bills have gone mental, and I can't afford to buy anywhere, so it might be the van life for me.
My dream is to get a sprinter van I live in a minivan and I set it up really cute....🎉 to wake up and not have to worry about Rent for example it is the most amazing feeling and freeing feeling. That sprinter looks very cool it is set up very well. #free #vanlife
Kitchen is really 'copious'! And you can sit on the work top and swing you legs over to get into the cab if you needed to get away from a parking spot in a hurry. But there's a curtain to keep the heat in/cool air out. I'd agreed that not having thd bed 'out' all day means you feel you have a different room at night. Well done! G Ire
Van life I've been watching for a few years. Mainly the CheapRVliving in America. In America you can chase the weather and because the US is vast, there's more to see and do. The UK however is so small, the weather is predominantly crap, and fuel and parking is expensive. You need to be in Europe but thanks to Brexshit that's buggered us all. I wouldn't ever do it in the UK but luckily I left the UK and currently live in Bulgaria. Only another year and I get my permanent residency card so I can remain in Europe and travel and chase the sun. Certainly couldn't do that living in the UK when it's constantly raining.
A half way measure could be to rent your home out during the summer to holiday makers, then stay in your home during the winter in order to get modifications, essential repairs and maintenance done. Birdy
agree. I’m definitely think of this I live in Melbourne Australia and think i might do this. I could rent out either the Van or apartment or both for short stay . And semi retire.
Am building a Luton conversion for part time van life, find it interesting all the takes on cheap builds. I have a caravan scrapper happy to help for buttons.water heater. Gas box and vents. Fridge and cooker.

£1400 That's insanity..! Go for it mate..
*Plough* 🎉
Every blessing to you Carrie. All the best with your plans. 6 months' rent would get you alot in terms of a van/conversion. G Ire
Live in a van for a year or 2 and you'll have enough for a deposit to buy a house of your own if you want to go that route.
Go for it, life is too short. Good luck ❤

Keeping it basic but also Keeping it real, fair play to her.
What does ‘keeping it real’ actually mean? Its everywhere.
