    Thanks for confirming the oil capacity of 2.9 liters. I just change oil on my FZ8 and I had been stressed out by some idiots that putted comments on forums talking about 3.4 liters, 3.1 liters... Thanks for confirming it.

    good video man i bought a 13 fz8 last year awesome bike i switched from a cruiser thought it would be a good cross in the middle. just wanted to throw this out there for some people to im sure you allready know i like to put a couple shhets of aluminum foil over the pipes behind the filter the oil runs right off of it less of a mess to clean at the end i still keep the cleaner close by just incsase. just wanted to throw a little something out there nice video man close to riding season here in NY im getting itchy haha safe riding

    thanks for the video. I just purchased my first bike second hand from a co worker. a 2013 fz8 with 3800 miles on it and I'm about to change the oil this weekend. I was planning on bringing it to a dealership but after seeing this I think I can manage it myself.

    Great upload Mr. Slap! Thank you so much! The little things you mention, like starting bolts by hand, makes this one of the best DIY videos.

    You did forget to mention the copper-seal of the bolt needs to be changed after each oil-change otherwise it could get leaky.
    Second: I would recommend to loosen the bolt first then the oil-filter. And thrid: dip your finger into the old oil and moisten the sealing of the new filter before mounting it.
    Apart from this: Nice diy video.

      K&n comes pre slicked, however filling up the filter with clean oil, (as full as you can without making a mess putting the new filter back on...) could be beneficial to aid in avoiding dry starts

    Do you know off hand what size the crush washer is? 14mm bolt...but not sure of the dimensions of the washer. Thanks for the video!

      You may take a look at amazon. That's where I get mine from. I use the same washer from my 2013 zx6r to 2018 triumph tiger 800.

      You can hand tighten the oil filter, about 3/4 to 1 turn from when the seal touches the engine. I found that after I had done the oil change, not all of the old oil had drained out. It is best to change to oil on this model with both tires on the ground. Hope this helps.

    2 off questions about the fz8
    Does the fz8 have the same radiator as the fz07 looking for a radiator front guard?
    What's up with the 8 is it the step/middle child?

    • @PistonSlap
      @PistonSlap  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure on the radiator questions, as for the size. It seems a lot of new riders and shorter riders like the 7. The fz8 is a good intermediate bike and not so powerful like the mt09 and MT10

      PS I get that yet there is not much on the forums, Google, parts etc about the fz8

      Maxima racing oils have a coolant that I use in all my bikes. It is called Coolanol here is the link. You should be able to find it online and in stores if they carry it. www.maximausa.com/product/coolanol-power/
      If you want to stay with the factory stuff here is the link for it. Your Yamaha dealer should have it also
      www.shopyamaha.com/product/details/yamacool-high-performance-antifreeze?b=Search&d=33%7C33
      Hope that helps

      Piston Slap I've got a 2011 Yamaha fz8 and u can't see my filter, it's in same place but has some type of cover over it with 2 lines going to it. I'll post a pic if I fig out how to do so

    • @PistonSlap
      @PistonSlap  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only thing that I remember seeing with lines running to it was the oil cooler. The oil filter screws to that.

    • @PistonSlap
      @PistonSlap  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      gUdLuCkKiD that thing must have been really tight. There are a few other things you can try. There are a plier type oil filter tool that you can use. or worse case is stab a screw driver threw the filter and twist it off.

    • @gUdLuCkKiD
      @gUdLuCkKiD 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Piston Slap I just rode home from work and it is like an hour ride, so it was hot enough for sure. Its just eating up fuel like crazy so I need to change it ASAP. Literally just bought it like 2 weeks ago.

    • @PistonSlap
      @PistonSlap  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      gUdLuCkKiD It's a nice bike.

    • @gUdLuCkKiD
      @gUdLuCkKiD 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Piston Slap Yeah I love it, only thing I hate about it, is that its eating up gas, and its probably because the oil needs to be changed. I hope, only other thing I could think of that could be causing it would be the fuel injector needs to be cleaned.

    • @PistonSlap
      @PistonSlap  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      gUdLuCkKiD There are a few other things to consider, air filter, and tune if it has one. Some people install power commanders and add way to much fuel to them.
