Sometimes we need to be reminded that Jesus 'paid it all'--thank you for this hymn so beautifully done. It touches me spiritually and musically.

ONCE YOU UNDERSTOOD the gospel grace you would never forget it because you believe not in vain
Everyone knows the verse;
Ephesians 2:8-9 KJVS
[8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.
The entirety of the New Testament is the inspired word of God and the above verse isn’t the whole story. The “faith only/alone” doctrine taught by so many denominations requires us to ignore a massive amount of scripture but I’ll just list a few that will show faith only, once saved always saved and the “sinners prayer” are not scriptural teachings and are sadly going to lead many to eternal punishment. The following verses are Jesus speaking to a large number of people on the day of judgement. Those people based on the scripture would obviously be considered to be saved by the faith only/once saved always saved crowd…
Matthew 7:21-23 KJVS
[21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. [22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? [23] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
No, calling on Christ and believing he is the Son of God wasn’t enough. What did they lack? Well Jesus said only “he that DOETH the will of the Father”.
So there is absolutely action required on our part.
Also the only time Faith only is mentioned in New Testament scripture is in James 2 and it’s actually mentioned in the negative and clearly says it is not enough.
James 2:14,17,20,24 KJVS
[14] What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? [17] Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. [20] But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? [24] Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
The devils believe Christ is the son of God.
James 2:19 KJVS
[19] Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
In 1 Corinthians 2 Paul talks about the importance of staying the course and how he has not yet attained salvation and the importance of not becoming complacent and losing the reward. If once saved always saved were true the verses make no sense. Not to mention a major theme throughout the New Testament and especially the epistles as well as Revelation.

[27] But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

I pray that you would become a Christian. All you have to do to escape the lake of fire is believe that Christ paid the penalty for your sins, was buried and rose again the third day. It’s a free gift, since none of us can ever be good enough to earn it. Please read 1 Cor. 15:1-4. It will say the same thing. Sounds too simple I know, but this is the truth. Many people make it more complicated, but it isn’t.

This is a completely different hymn than the "Jesus Paid It All" that I'm familiar with, but I'm glad to learn of this one! It's beautiful, and beautifully sung. You have such a smooth, pleasing voice, and great harmony!

I would love to hear my favorite hymn - Eternal Father, Strong to Save. I have loved this hymn since I was a child; am almost 74, and it remains my favorite.
