As a Filipino, I'm not bothered on how she speaks English. I understand English isn't her first language, just like with most Filipinos. I think it's okay and I find it admirable because at least she tried. Even if she mispronounced most of the English words, that's fine with me. Even without the English subtitles, I will still be able to understand her.

I agree. What I don't like with us is that we tend to discriminate our own Filipino people for having that stupid accent which we really abhore. I'm Filipino so I don't really mind about how she speak english or her editing. She's trying her best she's not disrespecting people or making fun of others and remember that's not her mother native tongue. I live here in California U.S now and Lots of American make fun of other's accent or if their grammar is wrong they'll just make fun of you. That's one thing i don't understand how's American don't understand for the people that are just learning English. I mean it's understandable. If you can't understand what's their saying then that just show your true color. How about American try to learn other language? do they even try?

  • @actesoro

Hahaha! Ovela, you are too harsh on her English. If you go to Japan, you will rarely find a person outside the hotel (or big companies) who speaks English as good as her. They also have a hard time pronouncing consonants at the end of words, so you will typically hear a vowel sound added. Even my name, Art, would typically be pronounced as Arto. Magandang umaga, Ovela. Am looking forward to your videos IN the Philippines.

  • @rinoaaerba891
    @rinoaaerba891 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

Honest comment also, reaction involves your feeling like when you have fun or not while watching a video, not making fun of it. I just don't appreciate people making fun of how other people speak in another language or dialect, especially English. Every nation have different languages/dialects and English is just a second language which some countries have no time or way to learn, or that some of them are just not interested for some reasons.
It maybe a hindrance to English-speaking countries visiting either ESL or non-English speaking countries but making fun of their inability to speak English properly is just plain disrespectful. Just put yourself in their shoes and think of how hard it is to learn other nations' languages/dialects then ask yourself if you were pronouncing them correctly.

He is just a human dude... sometimes we react how the person pronounce the word. And then we react so fastly because as a human, if we know how to pronounce the word we usually correct the pronounciation so that is why he reacted to that. For example: your children wants to learn how to ride a bike and then he or she trying to ride without your guide and then you actually see that she didnt know what will you do? As a father you will react because that is the essence of mind, to react to a certain things that is weather good or bad. And now you know she didnt know how ride you will come to her and try to teach her how to ride a bike.

A lot of Filipinos love anime and Japan in general.
My generation (and the current one), grew up watching tons of Filipino dubbed anime so we know a lot about their culture and such.
Watching anime actually helped me become more proficient in the English language when I should not because I prefer to watch the anime in the Japanese language and they only have English subtitles. Hurray for anime & English subs! and that's also true in watching American movies, animation and series when I got a little older.

Im a Filipino and I watched this reaction video without reading her subtitles and I understood her.
And that constant correction of her grammar and terminologies on things is just, mister, stop it.
This is the reason why I dont mingle with people with alot of intelligence, they tend to be uptight and come off as annoying, noticing and correcting everything, like, just let people talk how they want atleast shes speaking in a language we all understand.
Also, the way you think about her pronouncing things, its the same way we think of u English speakers when u say our Filipino words, so give this girl a break. Like when u white people inccorectly pronouncing our "ng" sounds, yah its the same thing when u keep noticing and correcting her extra syllables in the end of words.
Too much smart is not nice, its uptight and annoying.

And considering the Japanese culture their strong patriotism makes it all the more challenging for them to adopt to a foreign language. Let’s just be more tolerant with other people’s deficiencies and we call it RESPECT! Peace.🤗

I’ve been to Japan and people there have different culture. They are very family oriented only , they don’t mix with their neighbors . Philippines, it’s universal... everybody greets and smiles even if you don’t know them. They’ll invite strangers to eat even if they don’t have any food to eat. Helpful and friendly are the majority of people.

To people getting mad at Ovela,
Ovela is reacting to the video. That is his genuine reaction. I'm sure you guys do not like fake or manifactured reactions. He never seen any of Mana's videos until now, so he is out of the loop. Coming from someone who is watching the video for the first time, without context, will also have a different reaction versus the people who watches mana's video on the regular. Also, he probably have little knowledge of japanese language and accents. So just be cool guys

Like you, I find her smart for having that title in her vlog. I got intrigued by it, that I watched it at once. As for her command of the English language, she is better off than most Japanese people because she is able to get her mesage across. As to your scheduled visit to our country, the best months to be here is between November to February, when it's cooler and is mostly sunny. By cooler, I mean , a low of 23 °C, to a high of 30°C, at noon time.
