I think it's a Larin from the Maldives. The full coin is 4.8 grams and this one looks cut so that is in line with the current weight. If so they're from the years 1648-1687. Made from silver. Cool find either way!
I knew right away that first foreign coin was from Hong Kong.I had a 1953 half cent with that exact same unusual edge.Very different and unforgettable, unique coinage, cool find Sir Robert.
Just bought a penny mat! I used to watch your videos while I hunted but my car was stolen and ALL my pennies were in it! So I'm starting again after a couple years. Let's get it!
I know India had thousands of similar coins made in the early 1900s. Definitely didn't sound silver so I doubt it's very old, possibly a replica or 1800s-early 1900s. Don't know enough about them to say though.
I FOUND IT!!!! It's a Quarter Rupee Hyderabad Silver from the late 1800's Coinbazzar sold one for around $15 and there is one currently listed on eBay for $60.
My best guess is that is a replica of a coin from the Mughal empire in India, or possibly from one of the princely states. This would make it from somewhere as early the 1200s or as new as the 1800s. It is probably definitely a replica though because the weight is too light for pretty much anything and also it looks like it has the same design on both sides. No coins from this era had the same design on both sides. Still a really interesting find!
Agreed it's weird that it seems to have the same design on both sides. What are your thoughts on it when compared to the ½ Ashrafi - Mir Mahbub Ali Khan II? If it were damaged to be lighter?
Always fun to find unexpected stuff like that! I got a box a quarters and $100 in halves (that's all they had) from Huntington bank today. Mostly customer wrapped, but there were a few bank rolls of quarters full of shiny new 2005 Oregon, 2006 Nevada, 2008 Alaska, 2008 Oklahoma. Not sure if they're worth anything, but I'm keeping them. And I finally found my first W quarter, 2019 Pacific War, plus 3 more Canadians, 1969, 1974, and 1979. For halves, found one with a silvery edge, pulled it out and turned it had a hole right where the mint mark was supposed to be. Someone probably used it as jewelry. Don't even think it's silver, just plated, so not even worth keeping. :(
Nice hunt Rob! The portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth the Second on those old British territories coins is a really cool portrait in my opinion. Great to see the nickels continue to deliver even though it was a slower hunt. I hunted 4 fantastic boxes this week. Box 1 had 2 silver war nickels and a buffalo. Box 2 had a war nickel in roll 50. Box 3 had 2 buffaloes and my first Canadian KGV from 1923! Box 4 also had a buffalo and it was another find in roll 50. Nickel boxes seem to have good amounts of finds consistently lately. Keep on hunting!!
Regarding that coin on 4:00 . I speak and read Arabic and i can see that there is an Arabic writing on the coin , the writing is not . complete, it looks like that the writing is cut off . Regarding the coin on 9:20 , there is tow date written on the coin (2007-1428).
The coin appears to be Arabic probably pre1918 since that was when the ottoman empire was carved up, but it could be older. Alternatively could be in sanskrit but then I think it'd be much older
Cool ancient coin. I bought 10 pounds of foreign coins once and there were a ton of Chinese cash coins in the bag. Mostly just 1 cash coins but I did get what I believe to be a 10 cash coin from the 14th century. Was not expecting that
This is hilarious, Rob! I'm currently working a nickel box and what did I find this morning? A United Arab Emirates coin like you found in this hunt! Love that Hong Kong piece! Haven't you found a buffalo nickel in your nickel hunts for about 4/5 times in the same number of searches? That's amazing! 😁
Some good finds, just missing some silver! You've probably answered this before, but do you put the 40s, 50 & 60s that aren't varaties or for the album back into circulation?
I really enjoy these hunts. Finding the Buffalo is cool, but those foreign coins are very interesting. That ancient looking coin is curious. Maybe not even from this planet? 😵💫
That old coin was awesome I had a awesome day coinstar gave me 19 coins all below 1958 1909, 2 1936,1934d,nine 1943 steel cents. Two dimes 1920d and a 1954d a 1883 indian cent the rest were common 40s!
There's a lot of ~150 year old Afghan coins that look kinda like that, but I couldn't find an exact match off of a quick browse and wouldn't know the first thing about confirming authenticity regardless.
You found two very interesting coins. I have seen that small silver coin before from the Seychelles Islands. It may be a coin from treasure taken from India in the 16th century. The Indian silver was in large sheets and the coins were cut from the plates to make it easier to hide. Just possibly it could be. Have it checked for silver content, do you have a meter? The Hong Kong coins are marked for the large blind population, making them easier to id by feel. It's all part of hunting.
I’ve been searching since this video came out and I still have NO clue. I have literally been searching for 2 hours and I’m confused. Numista is a great resource there’s just over 50,000 different coins that are grey, ancient, and have only script on them.
Nice hunt! I've been doing research since this video came out and I haven't been able to find this exact coin. The closest I got was a Ottoman Empire Murad III gold coin. (Obviously your coin isn't gold). My guess is the oldest it could be is the late 1580s to late 1590s and the newest it could be is somewhere from 1910 to 1930s
My first thought was Turkish but can't say for sure. very interesting though. I wonder if it might be a trade coin because the ends do look a little clipped off
I understand & know that you don't like popping coins in & out of those albums but are there any coins in the #2 album that would upgrade the #1 album? I don't recall you ever mentioning that.
Cool find, Rob! Can you measure the volume of the coin likely from the Princely state of Hyderabad? If it's dense enough, do you think it could be a damaged ½ Ashrafi - Mir Mahbub Ali Khan II?
Looks like something middle eastern, but I haven't seen one like that. The numbers look similar to middle eastern. I have no clue how heck it made it through the coin sorter. Lol
I'm thinking Bengal 1/4 Rupee based on the script and size. Using weight, diameter and regional (Indian states) on Numista would bring up some photos to help identify the exact type and region. India made coins similar to that into the 1900s for various Princely States under British occupation.
from a fast perusal of my catalogs and online investigations it looks somewhat like a Celtic Iron Age coin the only question I have is the weight most of the coins I've checked have weighed in at 1.05 g
From KM, Hyderabad Y-15 or Y-16. Y-15 is 2.79 g, and Y-16 is 5.59 g - so its weight of 3.86 g is half way between a 1/4 Rupee and a 1/2 Rupee. If it is silver-ish, maybe it is fake-ish

Bro, Ancient Coin Are So cool!
OMG 4:03
That Hong Kong ten cent piece is an amazing find. The US Mint ought to incorporate that style of edge on their Silver Eagles.
I think it's a Larin from the Maldives. The full coin is 4.8 grams and this one looks cut so that is in line with the current weight. If so they're from the years 1648-1687. Made from silver. Cool find either way!
Great assortment of finds. I can't wait till the next video.
I knew right away that first foreign coin was from Hong Kong.I had a 1953 half cent with that exact same unusual edge.Very different and unforgettable, unique coinage, cool find Sir Robert.
Nice find! Definitely an ancient coin! I think you should keep it
I really love the edge on that Hong Kong coin!
Never a dull video!! Love what one commenter said.. finding all these weird coins, but can’t find the 50-D. Lol
Finding literal ancient coins (presumably) but still no 1950 D 😂
Can confirm after doing a quick google search it’s an ancient Indian coin
Well he could of placed the coin in the roll
@@vickstar1943 Rob wouldn't do something like that, cmon now
Just bought a penny mat! I used to watch your videos while I hunted but my car was stolen and ALL my pennies were in it! So I'm starting again after a couple years. Let's get it!
The three foreign finds could cover up the smiley faces in the series 2 book.
I know India had thousands of similar coins made in the early 1900s. Definitely didn't sound silver so I doubt it's very old, possibly a replica or 1800s-early 1900s. Don't know enough about them to say though.

Coinbazzar sold one for around $15 and there is one currently listed on eBay for $60.
you are close, but the weight is weird.
@@rja98105 Yeah, kind of. It's either too light for 1/2 or too heavy for 1/4. Strange.
My best guess is that is a replica of a coin from the Mughal empire in India, or possibly from one of the princely states. This would make it from somewhere as early the 1200s or as new as the 1800s. @@frankb2715 Maybe but that’s a gold coin and this one looked gray.
Is it made out of silver?
💯💯💯
Nice hunt Rob, some very different & interesting finds, congrats brother 👍
Unusual finds, thanks again for the entertaining hunt Rob
Kool finds. That ancient looking coin looks Egyptian
Wow, Rob❗️ Super entertaining hunt. That box was "like a box of chocolates." 👍 (silver jar can eat tomorrow)
Some crazy odd foreign finds. Buffalo cool. Fun hunt 👍
Cool seeing the foreign coins Rob and of course the Buffalo is always a hit! Thanks for the video, Happy Hunting, Stephen
That preview worked well with your intro!
Some really interesting finds. Fun hunting!!
Nice finds rob love your channel very informative thank you for sharing 👍
That was a strange looking coin. Nice video.
It is a indian rupee form the 1600s or 1700s form the muhgal empire and also it is sliver
Something about that mystery coin rings a bell. I will have to dig through my foreigns. But hey! Can't beat a Buffalo!
Most likely a souvenir coin. Alloys matching this colour and weight weren't really used until the last 150 years or so.
Bro Rob. You got so lucky. I expect your luck will get better when you hunt some more coins! :) keep it up brother!
Cool finds! Love seeing foreigns and Buffalos, when there isnt any silver. Good hunt!
Check with Christian Hartch at Treasure Town;he's been showing a lot of ancient coins lately, and is fairly knowledgeable.
Christian is awesome and super educated on ancient coins
Great finds, albeit unexpected ones...and that 1956 coin is a KN mint mark too - just 2,500,000 minted! 👍One of the lower minted of the period!👍
I’m thinking either a piece of costume jewelry or a casting/replica coin. Still a great hunt!
Always fun to find unexpected stuff like that!

Love that edge on the foreign from Hong Kong. Hopefully you can figure out what the ancient looking one is.
How awesome would that ancient coin be,, if it was silver...lol. Nice finds.
The ancient coin looks like a modern game piece. I have found those metal detecting.
Nickel hunt good luck sir! Strange finds which is nice!
ALL in all a good hunt 👍
Looks like it's one of those non profit mailing coins, I see them with the mail ever so often, thanks for the fun hunt, I always enjoy your videos

Wow, great hunt! Found my first Buffalo the other day: a 1937-S
Looks like a medieval-era coin from the Arab world!
The coin appears to be Arabic probably pre1918 since that was when the ottoman empire was carved up, but it could be older. Alternatively could be in sanskrit but then I think it'd be much older
good hunt a little lean on finds

Neato foreigns!!
Looking at the design, and then looking back at the coin in question, I'd say you have an ancient coin in your hand. Congrats!
Isn’t it under the date 8:27
You've never seen the Hong Kong 10 cent? You should see an old Hong Kong $5 piece. Nice ancient coin too.
Cool finds
I understand & know that you don't like popping coins in & out of those albums but are there any coins in the #2 album that would upgrade the #1 album? I don't recall you ever mentioning that.
there might be one or two but most are compared to the 1st book then upgraded and the one taken out is put into the next book (usually).
Also I forgot to say it is sliver!!!
That coin look from biblical or something also congratulations on your Buffalo nickel and a proof nickel thanks for sharing Rob
Cool find, Rob!
Can you measure the volume of the coin likely from the Princely state of Hyderabad? If it's dense enough, do you think it could be a damaged ½ Ashrafi - Mir Mahbub Ali Khan II?
I assume it is silver - so a 1/2 rupee. You are correct on Hyderabad
Looks like something middle eastern, but I haven't seen one like that. The numbers look similar to middle eastern. I have no clue how heck it made it through the coin sorter. Lol
What camera do you use?
The coin is from Hyderabad state in British India... late 19th century or early 20th century
yep, it's what it looks like to me.
👍
cool Hong Kong Coin!
Well that was cool suprise
No clue to what that coin is, but, if you take it somewhere, and find out, please let your viewers know.
Google lens may help with that weird coin?
It's amazing what can be found after you put it there.
It has to be Indian... almost looks like a Jodhpur 1/4 anna... almost... but i am sure it is from India...
You are right - that’s Hindu language on the coin
5:54 looks mohur or mughal
Ancient coin nice
Bring it to a coin dealer . Hard to stump RFT but I guess there a first for everything . Maybe reach out to silver seeker? Or some of the others!

Do you sell your books?
It looks like a cast replica coin
I would say it's from one of the princely state of india
from a fast perusal of my catalogs and online investigations it looks somewhat like a Celtic Iron Age coin the only question I have is the weight most of the coins I've checked have weighed in at 1.05 g

I personally think the weird coin you found, is weird...
