    Yes, i would definitely want to see a video with hidden gems from the drugstore, the best of the best over the years that they are not trying to dupe anything, just do a nice job at an affordable price ! ❤

    I’m definitely in the “don’t call it a DUPE unless it’s a near perfect match” camp. If a product is a “color dupe”, or a formula dupe, that’s ok for me. I prefer people saying it’s “an affordable alternative”.
    Yes, please…. Affordable gems.

    Totally made sense about lower price makeup being good on its own. I never thought of that and it’s an interesting point to consider. I love to go deep in my mind theorizing on society and why we do what we do.

    Drugstore video: yes puhleeeease!! I bet plenty of people would love to see that. I like the toned-down lavender look. While not as thrilling to create, this kind of eye look is my go-to, but when I want a little more drama I just watch your videos. Rarely do I have the time or energy to experiment, which begs the question: why do I maintain such a large makeup collection 🤔? You make me want the lavender palette!

    Good morning! I love the concept of dupes but never get them due to always being disappointed. I'll buy whatever that interests me now and that's actually reduced my spending. I'm happy with what I have and remember it. I am liking that foundation, and am happy more drugstore brands are getting recognition for foundations now that they have expanded their shade ranges a bit.

    I think about it like candles. I have found some amazing candles for less money, that smelled better and burned better than fancy expensive ones. But I don’t consider candle brands “duping” other candles. There are only so many scent combinations (yes that’s technically an astronomical number, but not a finite one). If I don’t care where my candles come from, as long as they smell good and burn well, it’s great. I look at makeup the same way. If it’s great and does it’s job, I don’t care what brand it is, fancy or not. Sometimes I burn a Nest candle, sometimes it’s a generic Walmart candle. Sometimes I wear Dior and sometimes I wear Essence.

  • @carinam4258
    @carinam4258 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    For me, the biggest problem with “dupes” is when you don’t want to spend the money on the more expensive product and keep buying cheaper “versions” of it that never really meet the expectations so you end up spending more money than you would if you just bought the original thing… I’ve done this more times than I’m willing to admit. I’ve learned my lesson. Now if I can’t get something out of my head I just wait a while and eventually buy it or forget about it.

  • @Maddhaddar
    @Maddhaddar ปีที่แล้ว +7

    You are right on the money with your drugstore makeup thoughts. I agree! I’m not into “good for the price” it’s good or it’s not. And a handful of ok products could be the price of something really amazing. I’d love to see a drugstore video like that from you.

    I love the DM blushes. The shade Golden Hour is a gorgeous, fiery orange. Bellini looks quite peachy pink compared to Golden Hour which is a true orange. I did one on each cheek to compare. The formula is just wonderful

    I got sick of not being able to find a bronzer so I made my own lol. My perfect shade of bronzer was actually the Benefit blush Dallas. So I used cream bronzer and cream blush and melted them together to get the color I needed.

      @@amberm8185 3 shades actually. Revolution cream bronzer in light and dark, because the tone of dark works better, but I'm pale so I had to lighten it up, then quite a bit of Wet n Wilds stick blush is Say it Ain't Rose.

    I'd love to see a 'Lasting Loves' drugstore video! Some influencers do this, but the 'it's been around forever, and it's just as good as...' tends to creep in. But sometimes there are products that are just iconic, like Coty Airspun, Revlon Cherries in the Snow, Covergirl Cheekers Blushes...Pink Candy was there long before the Dior blush! Falling into my own trap here 😂

    @ruffierlouise5554 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, I agree with your analysis on good drugstore products being good for what they are without being compared 👍👍 I especially look for these, not for expensive high end products to use on a daily bassis, nor cheap dupes without a solid formula ✨✨

  • @susannadler9791
    @susannadler9791 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, I’d love to see a drugstore focused video. I want to get more into drugstore to save money. High end makeup is getting too expensive, along with drugstore makeup getting better and better.

  • @irinatanase7150
    @irinatanase7150 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Yes, I want a product to be good, no matter the price tag. If I don’t like a drugstore product I have the same buyer’s remorse as an expensive one, because it’s still lost money and more work for me to find it a new home. Also living in the EU, much of US drugstore products are not found here, so that’s why I don’t watch drugstore videos and I reoriented towards sephora and indie. I would rather pay more for a indie sparkling palette, rather than having 10 tarte palettes or maybelline. It’s about the quality in the end for me.

  • @kristinprewitt7297
    @kristinprewitt7297 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @Drennie1980
    @Drennie1980 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    A dupe for me is for example a drugstore lipstick with the same finish and color as Pillow Talk. I am now at a point in my live that I could definitely afford Pillow Talk, but I think the price is ridiculous for a lipstick. So that's the kind of dupes I would appreciate. If that makes sense

  • @marie-evegoulet3229
    @marie-evegoulet3229 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I think that the big difference for me when it comes to drugstore/ more affordable makeup is that the price difference between a more expensive item vs the cheaper one is really not that big where I am. It makes it so I’m paying a lot for cheap packaging, but I can endure that if the products is just that good 🤷‍♀️

    Your always my favorite to watch angelica !! I can’t wait to see your review on the Glamlite scooby Doo pt.2 palette!! Because I feel like
    after I looked at the swatches I thought :
    The blue row reminds me of : their Frosted Flakes color story
    The green & purple row: their SD pt.1 color story
    The warm row : BH ( optimistic AF) color story hope to see your comparison between these palettes and the colors !! Because if they're different I MIGHT get the palette, if not ... as beautiful and exciting as this collection is, I might just end up passing on it ... and maybe waiting to see what the next collections bring ( with color stories and formulas and finishes)....

    There's a whole category of "best at the drugstore" which goes through great affordable makeup. I think where they fall down is those reviewers don't always have the highest quality standards since there's so many misses at the drugstore but they feel they need to find a good product in every release.

    I would love to see a roundup of good drugstore products. I live in Israel and traditional drugstore brands like Maybelline, L'Oreal, Revlon etc. are all imported here, making the cost of them more than what they'd be in America or Europe, sometimes triple the price! So for me, even drugstore items aren't the drugstore prices I would pay when living in the US, making drugstore purchasing decisions just as "important" as a high end purchase and its not "Just $5" due to the high price markup. LOL sorry for the long post, hope it made sense. Anyway, have a great day Angie! 💛💛

    I would say 90% of my makeup is affordable. I buy higher end face powder because I feel they are better on my super oily skin. Maybe I havent tried enough drug store powders, but I am sick of wasting money on affordable powders and hating them. I feel most beauty influencers dont get the nuances of powders or have super oily skin. Nikkia Joy powder is amazeballs and she has been the only person so far I've come across that gets it. I splurge on eyeshadow palettes and lip products but that is mostly a color choice thing. Colourpop has some of my fav eyeshadow palettes and lip products too, soo...
    That revlon colorstay has been my ride or die for literal decades. the reformulated with vitamin e is absolutely amazing!! I hope you love it and jt goes viral because i am so worried about revlon going under and not being able to get it anymore!

    I guess it depends on what it's duping--is it duping the quality, the lasting ability, the packaging, the color? There are times I wish more people would talk about dupes in terms of colors, particularly for lipsticks; some of my favorites have been discontinued, or I like a color but not that particular lipstick's formula. (Also, I can't wait for the lilac palette to get here, and I love Nikkia's powder, too--it's great for oily skin like mine!)

    I totally agree with what you defined a dupe as, it needs to look the same and wear the same. That said, for some products, I don’t mind if it’s just close but more affordable. My budget or mindset sometimes just doesn’t accommodate some of the prices that higher end brands want to charge. And then sometimes as a treat I’ll splurge. This was a really interesting discussion. I do agree that people want to look like they have money and it isn’t always the healthiest. It’s good to have goals and strive but you need to enjoy what you have too I feel. And no one should feel bad if they aren’t wealthy. Most people aren’t.

    I would appreciate a "good products" video featuring drugstore products (or any products). I crave function in my products, not hype, prestige or heavy/shiny packaging (oh, for some truly functional packaging! Huge beef with typical lip gloss packaging where like a quarter of the product is stuck at the top). It really struck me what a twisted time we're living in when you said that you didn't want to offend anybody who's into prestige products. I've been buying all levels of products for 40 years and I'm glad I still have cringe moments about buying stupid-expensive stuff, even when it's functionally amazing. The Milk setting spray IS nice. Great artistry here, the multichrome made the eye look even if it did bunch up a bit - gave it the perfect amount of warm glow.

    Brands incentive the dupe quality as they know people will buy it for comparison sake.
    Personally I appreciate products for what they are and the quality of the product I get for it’s price.

    I love the idea of great stand-alone drug store/ affordable products. As a society, we tend to be always on the hunt for the best rather than achieving contentment with the great products we already may have or can attain easier and or for less money. I've learned that over consumption actually cheapens or makes the products I already purchased, that are great, feel less important and disposable when I was seeing the newest version. I like to treat myself once in a while but try to enjoy what I have and reinvest the previously spent rat-race-to-the-best money into other parts of my financial profile.

    The drug store recommendations video sounds amazing! Would love to know your thoughts. I get overwhelmed when I walk in and feel lost, to have a list of great products would be so valuable.
    Love this ColorPop pallet look. That inner eye color of light blue is absolutely gorgeous!

    I used to love that Revlon foundation before I went cruelty free. The shade “buff” was a perfect match for me.

    I would love to see a good from the drugstore video. I don't buy high end products, so anytime I can watch a video on good drugstore products I am excited.

    i agree with what your saying i would be interested to watch if you made a video it feels like we are getting in to all drugstore or cheaper products are rubbish unless it can be compared to the more expensive which feels to me sometimes that cheaper make up is rubbish only expensive or highend make up will be any good xx

    The look turned out really pretty 😍 Nikkia Joy powder is a holy grail for me. Have you tried her pigments? I have a few, and they’re great 👌🏽❤️

    I’d definitely like to see that video I like high end complexion products but saying that a lot of the ingredients can be similar like eyeliners / lipliners your paying for unique packaging which I love too! In Ireland and Uk we say Car a Mel Americans can say it like that or Car-Mel it’s just an accent thing Angie. I got that as I say Pat McGrath bronzer same shade it’s ok nothing special I think I prefer the Juvias place one more so far but I only have it a few days so early days!!
