  • Elite 2 controllers have a love-hate relationship. It is easily the best controller I've ever used - but every single Elite controller I've owned has died in about 2 years for one reason or another.
    Still - I'll use nothing else. Why? This video will explain why I love the Elite series controllers and well bust open the Core edition to see what you might miss out on if you get the budget unit.
    Note: While slightly embarrassing, it seems I missed the tension tool included with the CORE controller. It is located in with the documentation. i.imgur.com/MGl1cDT.png (thanks Teksone!)

    Getting the Elite 2 was a bit of a gamble, after the Elite 1 literally came apart in my hands. But I don't regret it. Playing Halo Infinite on it at the moment, great experience. I hope MS will eventually discover gyro aiming.

      Yeah I have had several elite 1 controllers and they definitely were not built as well as the 2.

    Bruh 2 years is what I expect a regular controller would last, Not a “built to last” model.. also some faulty stuff can easily be repaired by yourself. What really kills the controller are pressing the L3/R3 to often, drifting the stick and pulling the trigger harder than actually needed (specially driving games). I would hope for it to last at least 10 years lol, I wonder if the inside of Core version had any tweak. Good video though! The amount of goodies from the vanilla is great

      Well, we'll be back in 2 years to see how the Core is holding up. L3/R3 are the devil's work. Some masochist came up with that. The paddles set us free from that nonsense :D I've never had drift be an issue with these. Never. What dies? The bumpers. Almost each and every time. My son's lost all the face buttons. Sigh.

    Hi, I’m looking to buy my first elite series 2 controller since the one I bought in 2016, which was the series 1 but back then there was a lot of button problems with the elite controllers. Have they improved on that or is it still happening?

    • @Darkuni
      @Darkuni  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So I've owned an elite controller since the beginning. I've gone through several elite ones and I'm on my second elite 2. Microsoft claims that they repaired a lot of the issues around the elite 2 controller. I would say that's probably 90% true. I had my first elite 2 controller for over 2 years before I started having a bumper stick problem.

    • @Darkuni
      @Darkuni  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you could live without the trigger locks? I would check out the elite series controller plus the armor X-Pro add-on. I've actually been using it more than my elite 2 which is practically heresy.

    Hello
    What is the difference between the Material of R1 L1 keys? It seams in Elite2 is metal and in elite core is plastic!

    • @Darkuni
      @Darkuni  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Elite 2 Sku appears to have a metallic "coating" but I believe the button is still plastic. The real problem with the bumpers is the mechanism with. Both are "not that great" - which is why I stopped using them at all (map both bumpers to the rear paddles).

    Elites are good, no doubt, but personally I prefer using the Razer Wolverine Ultimate. Been meaning to buy the new Wolverine Chrome to see if it's better.

    • @Darkuni
      @Darkuni  ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you like about it? Curious... I had contemplated that one at one time.. edit: I did buy that and I returned it. I can't remember what I didn't like about it but it was something.

    • @aweigh1010
      @aweigh1010 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Darkuni Well, I really enjoy using the mechanical switch buttons on the Wolverine Ultimate. They are very satisfying to press, and a big upgrade from the regular Xbox rubber-dome buttons. Can also press them faster too, which is nice. Second, I like the shape and feel of the controller a lot, it feels weighty and sturdy. The Elite also feels extremely well-made and very comfortable as well, so you could say both are even there. Third, I like the bumpers and triggers a LOT more on the Wolverine Ultimate, especially the triggers when in "trigger stop" mode. They feel faster and snappier. Bumpers as well.
      Lastly, the matter of the back buttons: it comes down to personal preference and ESPECIALLY what you've grown used to, and I know a lot of people prefer Elite-style paddles but personally I *love* the centered back buttons on the Wolverine controllers. It took a minute to get used to them, though. This is a love-it-or-hate-it feature about the Wolverines, a LOT of people don't like the centered back buttons, but there are also a lot of people who like them, like me. You really need to try one yourself to decide if you like them or not, it's that kind of thing.
      The Wolverine Ultimate's big weakness is its so-so D-PAD, but it was improved majorly on the new Wolverine Chroma, and they made it fully mechanical as well, like the face buttons. Also, this might be a deal-breaker but the Wolverine's are wired only due to Microsoft's propietary Xbox frequency which they don't license out. You can get a wireless version of a Wolverine by buying Razer's Wolverine "Pro" controller, which is marketed as a Playstation and PC controller but in actual design feels and functions identically to their Xbox variants; then you can use an universal adapter.
      But if we're talking Xbox Wolverines they're all wired, and this is a big deal for a lot of people. It's hard to explain why I prefer one over the other but over long periods I find I enjoy the more tactile feel of the Wolverines. Definitely need to go to a store and hold one in your hands to test the back button design, however, it's not a minor detail. Can be the difference between liking the controller or not.
      Oh, also want to recommend for PC the Flydigi Apex 3 controller; I use it on my PC exclusively and it is a fantastic controller. Chinese company. Also features mechanical switch face buttons as well as mechanical D-PAD. Excellent, excellent controller as well. PC/Mobile only.

      John Smith I currently have been using the razer wolverine ultimate as well. I've been thinking of going to a xbox elite controller. I've had the razer for like almost 2 years and its been very good but I kinda want to try something new despite all the negative reviews I've seen on the elite. I'm shocked no other controller companies have incorporated the extra shoulder buttons razer uses.

      @@aweigh1010 thanks for the very long and thoughtful reply. Now that I'm thinking about it the centered buttons probably did not work well for me. Plus I loathe having a wire on my controller. It was probably just a culmination of things I didn't care for.
      I did get used to the steam decks rear paddles and they are definitely not the same as the Xbox elites.

      There should be no breaking point. As soon as I hear a click I expect a response. It works perfectly with the PS5 controller for example and also with the previous gen Xbox controllers. Microsoft has changed the way A and Y attached the the motherboard but they never address it. The only controller that works perfect is the Stellar Shift which i bought today.

      @@DarkuniI've been quite disappointed in the Armor-X Pro and their Rainbow 2 controller.. I've got them because I was hoping for an Xbox shape controller with good gyro. It wasn't the case, the gyro compared to the DS4 or the DualSense Edge is not even close. It's not as bad as on the RetroFlag SuperPack, but it's still subpar.. I was nearly about to give up on 3rd party solutions or Xbox and gyro altogether, but just yesterday my Brook XOne SE Adapter came in and the gyro is.. ACTUALLY GOOD! Probably not as good as the DualSense Edge, but surely just as good as the DualShock 4. I was actually surprized. It doesn't have too many features, but it has the best gyro out of any 3rd party solutions that I know of. No latency that I can perceive. The only thing that kinda bothers me is that I can feel they're doing some "dynamic deadzone" at the center on the analog sticks and that in gamepad tester makes them look "good" with no drift etc. but in practice it only makes the aim on the stick feel quite bad compared to the standalone sticks on the bare controller.. You can use the adapter in parallel with the controller on which it is connected to, as a separate controller for only the gyro motion sensor though if you are bold enough and have a way to configure the 2 controllers work as one in certain games if you want to avoid the sticks deadzone "processing"..
