    Sailing the Seas of Ganymede is an instant classic. Technique and Touch...some guys don't have control of their touch pressure even though they can copy and play all the notes and they can sound terribly scratchy.

    Joe is such a wonderful humble person. It's been said that you shouldn't meet your heroes but I've met Joe a handful of times for a meet and greets and he's always so genuine and kind. Sometimes it works out. He makes me proud to be a fan of his music. He's just a good person. Go Joe!

    Ohh I like that! He said if the piece was slow everybody can tell if you are doing it right or not just by LISTENING. Everyone loves music especially women. You love guitar and this guy is among many reasons is why you like guitar SO MUCH. God bless him.

    • @schuey999

      @@nilsar4357 It's lethal, as is the flu. Do you know how many people die each year from the flu? It's staggering. But if you get hit by a car when you have the flu, the gov't doesn't record that as death from flu. Why is that? Are you people capable of having any curiosity? Are you able to reason? Do you have a brain in your head?

    I’m not asking Joe about anything towards technic I’m asking him to wish me well on my journey. You must put the work in bottom line and it shouldn’t be hard. I ain’t got the time or money is bs. We practice without guitars in our hand. Constantly thinking about it in between thoughts of how the world could end. Using the stirring wheel for finger tapping on the way to the gun range. 🛠

  • @walterevans2118
    @walterevans2118 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hope Joe's finger is ok now....Yeiks, thats a scary thing to happen to a top line musician...& Poor Steve with his recent problems...He did a wonderful job on Knappsack though didn't he ? ....I bet Steve values those old lessons Joe gave him on legato playing like platinum these days 👍Ed did re-arrange that prize CHARVEL didn't he ? 🤔😂...He bought it in the mid 1970s as a flawed Body(for $50) & a neck for $70 ...When it was B &W like the one Joe was holding the black scratchplate was cut out from plastic by himself & in those days he would put his own frets in with superglue. Then apparently a Japanese company started copying it so out came the masking tape again with Red bicycle paint....CAPTAIN CHAOS paint job 🤣..Took off any scratchplate, Only the rear pickup worked, the Floyd was wedged with an old quarter & the single coil pickup didn't even work....lol...He put a tone knob where the volume was......I love the way ED would describe that instrument....He would say -'This is my HEAP of JUNK guitar which I SLAPPED TOGETHER .....It looks like garbage & other players laugh themselves silly when they see it but its MY main baby........lol ...He used it non stop live & on records from 1978-1984 didn't he ? ...Served him well when you remember what he created.

    I hate hearing the term technique as a slam. Technique is a means to an end. Does anyone slam a great painter for having too much brush technique? Technique is tje facility used to play what you want. You can play great with it or completely tasteless if you choose.

  • @countvlad8845
    @countvlad8845 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Faceless' descending scale melody is catchy. Not because it is an Aeolian scale but the way the scale was played and the weird timing quirk as it descends. The simple technique shows emotion and a little insecurity or hesitancy (a human quirk) that is intentionally played... possibly because it is unlike the pyro-technique that is associated with Satch and the G3 guitarists. This is a call to simplicity, and I really don't buy Satch's explanation. The Elephants of Mars to my mind is a take-off of Bowie's' Spiders from Mars. The underlying chords and playing are simple and again, everybody can do it, which is what pop/rock music was meant to be about. With Spiders from Mars, the Naz was a guitar player God. In this case, there is nothing glamorous or Messiah-like... a herd of Republicans, lumbering through with good memories can do it.
