- What's up yall!
You know what the season is, it's getting pumped up for King Diamond tour season. So why not between work, band practices, shows and recording sessions punish myself (I like it) with learning another Mercyful Fate song?
This ones been requested a few times because it's got such a killer bassline.
Here is Mercyful Fate's "Night of the Unborn"!
As always Timi kills it on this whole album. I tried to dial in more of a MF bass tone which was kinda tricky cause I've got pretty fresh strings on the Guild right now. I'm pretty happy with the result! Everyone knows the best part of this song is the end so I won't be mad if you skip ahead.
This is also perhaps musics most boring news but I got a new tuner, one of those Peterson Strobo Stomp Mini's and dudes this thing kicks so much ass, I never thought I'd be so excited about a tuner. I highly recommend picking one up.
The part everyone wants to see

Cheers!

One of the greatest songs of all times. Great performance.

Killer bassline 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
Thank you!
"Did you know? 13 Days have come and gone
Since we had the First of June"
On King Diamond's birthday the spirits of the Unborn will play. Great bass cover, Timi "Grabber" Hansen ;)
Thank you, brother!! 🤘🤘
Brutal 👍
FUCKING NAILED IT!!!
Thank you!!!
Nice tone
Thanks!! 🤘
Thanks for doing this one. FLAWLESS. I'm a guitar player and Nightmare has always been my all time favorite songs to play, especially that neoclassical masterpiece of an outro. That one is a great tune do be next, in case I missed it on your channel. Kudos to your passion and precision, man \m/
Hey! Thank you so much, I really appreciate the comment! Nightmare is an awesome song, one of my favorites on the album. And I have actually covered that one too, it's a bit farther back amongst the other videos! I love the guitar tone on that first riff, that open A power chord just hits so hard. Best album ever! 🤘
Sick bass guitar cover I played Hank Shermann's guitar parts including the tremolo bar parts on my Stratocaster copy guitar
Hell yeah dude! Hank tips, I'll check it out! 🤘
Nailing it again!
Thanks dude!!
Cooool dude with amazing taste in music. Please don't stop showing your creativity! I saw a poster of Death on your wall in other videos. Maybe you could play some of their songs? Thank you in advance
AND hello from Russia!🤘👊💥
Thank you so much man! Yes I'm a big Death fan I'd love to cover a song from them soon. I'm yet to do any death metalvon this page so it would be a good pick!
Here again as always and I've been thinking about a Charon cover, if possible.
Oh dude I totally will, that's one if my favorites off Fatal Portrait. Ittl definitely be one of the next KD songs I do 🤘🤘
What about Haunted
Lights out, lights out in London! Oh, wait...
Well done, the bass is busy in this track. We talked about the higher bass presence on the first Mercyful Fate albums compared to the KD albums featuring Timi, it seems that it's not only the production but also the bass lines which are more dominant against the guitars.
I hope to do Desecration of Souls soon, that should be fun :)
My friends and I have a theory that as the King Diamond albums progressed he pushed for less busy instrumentation. Those late 80s albums rip but its crazy how much is going on in the early ones comparably. I love some clank but I think the subby and mid heavy bass on this album sits so nice in the mix.
Hell yeah dude cant wait to hear it!
Cheers, Neil! 🤘
@@kienanplaysbass At least in the rhythm section this sounds plausible. Adding to that, my impression is that Timi needed Kim Ruzz to unlock his full potential.
I must admit that I am not as fond of the Them-Conspiracy double compared to many other people, I was hooked way more by The Eye. Since I haven't really listened to a lot of Mercyful Fate / King Diamond post 1990, do you have a favourite from that later era?
Oh BTW, I totally forgot to mention, your air guitar intro for this vid right here was sublime!!!
@neil_song Totally agree, Kim Ruzz and Timi were a unit. I think Mikkey Dee's performance and drum tone on Fatal Portrait really worked well too. The kick drum and the bass fit so nicely together in the mix on those old albums. I agree on The Eye too, excellent song writing throughout that album. I love Conspiracy too but the bass always sounded a little thin to me, it's real hard to transcribe off that album because the bass is so buried. As for later albums, Spiders Lullabye I enjoy. It didnt immediately hook me the way some of the others have but it really grew on me with time. It doesnt have the same bass performance as the earlier albums but is still a solid listen!
@@kienanplaysbass Thanks, I will give it a listen!
I love you. If you were a young woman, I would marry you😘. I asked you for "Nightmare" and you did it. Now you play more gems. Timi is delighted. Me too. Thank you.❤
Hahaha thanks man. I try to make Timi proud! I'll definitely keep doing tracks off this album, it's the best.
Timi
RIP The best 🤘🤘
Jesus loves You and metal
Haha hell yeah, thanks dude! 🤘😈🤘
