So you have found Mandalinas now. Yes they are sweet and lovely! We can find them in the South Cost too. It is sad to listen to people who have been going through a huge trauma, and the earth quake and tsunami in the area of Izmir. I am sending warm feelings from Norway.
Siğacik really is such a beautiful little place. We were there a couple of years ago, even though it was February it was still so busy and lovely restaurants and cafes. The people, as they are all over Turkey, were so lovely. It maybe tempting not to go there now after the Tsunami but this is the BEST time to go, to rejuvenate the local economy, they really need it.
Just watch your tsunami video, don’t feel bad about not showing us busy tourist bits. Don’t forget, we are sitting watching your sunny videos in Scotland in December! It’s dark and frosty, anything with sun is like a tonic. Great videos, thank you
Thanks for that! There is lots more to share too ... we have just arrived in a hotel car park for the curfew weekend !! but more of than in a future video xx Marianne xx Love to bonnie Scotland xx
I swear those cats lined up in front of that fish merchant (at 12'35'') had already learned the rules of social distancing (they are each sitting 1 big tile apart, so funny!)
Hello Marianne & Chris :) A nice windy start! and those adorable cats...( liked the seagulls too !).. It does seem a really nice town, with great buildings, and so colourful. Nice that you were able to get a take out, in the restaurant you visited :) ... Those manderins looks so tasty too... Thanks again for sharing this episode ....really interesting and informative. See you on your next epic journey.. Take care M & C all the best David & Angela x
"Wow" It was so great to see our old Turkish home village but so sad to see and hear of all the devastation. The name is pronounced "Sirjik" The Sunami would have possibly reached our old house. We reconised all of the parts of village you showed. The harbour is the largest natural harbour in Turkey. We had our house there for around 6 years and we loved it. When we first went there in 2002 most of the houses in the walled part of the village were still inhabited by locals and the harbour area was developed just before we sold our farm. We had a small Apricot farm between two Satsuma groves. We gave all of our apricots away to the neighbours so we were allowed to take satsumas from the adjacent groves at this time of the years and we would have so many we would squeeze them for breakfast. Happy days. You have made our day. Thank you Take care 💙❤️👍
That just sounds idyllic ... and a fair trade for sure ... How lucky to have lived here and enjoyed that life .... thanks for sharing your story John - Marianne
Thanks guys I can’t tell you what it’s like to look at those lovely Blue skies. After day after day of dull Grey skies here in the UK. Thanks for sharing👍👍

Chris....what happened at the end? You didn't find us hidden in the bag of mandarins!!! Another great video. What a picturesque little town, but sadly so quiet. I guess it's a combination of it being the end of the season and Covid restrictions. Hopefully 2021 will bring the tourists back.
The earthquake at Izmir was terrible but I didn't know it had triggered a tsunami as well. It's being reported that there's been a spike of Covid in Turkey recently. Stay safe guys - we need you to brighten up the dreary weather here in the UK
thank a lot for the advice for those who are ignore to make our waters and environment dirty I am so thankful to you from USA as a Turkish American ..Keep pointing this please.By the way we are addicted to clips.Good Job

Very unfortunate to see this lovely town like a ghost town in the middle of the day due to Corona lockdown .. But anyway , cats are replacing , they are my best social engagement with people .... and don't forget to eat as many of these mandarins to keep your immunity system functioning good in this winter season !!...
Hello ambassadors! On Sigacik I translated a historical guide for the tourists for my niece who lives in 1/2 NE from there. It was a local government' s project she helped with. And my niece a reporter. If I would have known that you'd stop around there, I could have her meet you and give a little history tour there. Are you guys going to be there for a while. Where is the next spot? Who knows she may still be able to meet with you It is a lovely place again. Thank you thank you many times for making these videos in Turkey. And I am visiting the spots in Turkey with you! I cannot ask any better than this! Stay safe, please!

Love your vlog as always however, very disappointed Chris or the odd occasion Marianne didn't say "oh you're still there!! 🥰🥰 It's become our saying now , stay safe guys!! 💖 xx
Corona cases are pretty high in Turkey now. Take care of yourselves. You can use the government app to see the density map of the area you are. The app is called “Hayat eve sigar”. It also has English language.
Hi - thank you so much, yes we have the app and you are regularly asked as you go into tourist places for your number ... we are super lucky as van life is isolation on wheels !!
Good public service announcement about not littering. It's always so sad when you go to a place that has so much natural beauty but is spoilt by rubbish being everywhere. We've seen it at a lot of beaches and it's such a shame.
That's absolutly right. But I suspect that in this case the tsunami is to blame. The water has advanced quite far into the interior of the country and has taken a lot of rubbish with it into the sea. Usually the sea in this region is pretty clean
Ye we live in turkey İzmir the earthquake was massive and it hit 7.0 strength and i was at my uncle's luckily there house is right behind us so i got to our house safely amen

Great video as always. It’s so dif seeing Turkey in the winter and so quiet. My partner would have fed every cat 🐈 in that town 😂😂
Yep ... we are going through a bag of dog / cat food a week LOL
Is there any way we can donate to yourselves every month to help contribute towards the feeding of the animals ?
Winter might be cold 15 degree or something but if you come İzmir in Autumn that would be an amazing holiday

@@ElanurMH Ah of course. Good point.
