Burning the flag is a constitutionally protected expression of our first amendment and should not ever be seen as a negative or attack on America. The burning of the flag does not represent the “burning of America” it represents that our current government is not upholding the beliefs of what America is supposed to be. What that flag is supposed to represent. Burning the flag is saying “America is not being the America we all want it to be right now”. That’s why protesters burned the flag protesting the Vietnam war, the Korean War, the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, all events where the protesters turned out to be on the right side of history.
P.S. We should never allow anyone to say that burning the flag is anti-American because that is literally saying you are not allowed to RIGHTFULLY say your country is not being what it promised you it would be, what it’s own laws and constitution say it is. Burning the flag is one of the most pro-American things a protester can do. It’s says “ I want this nation to be the best country in the world, but it’s not right now”.
