Starting with the major companions like Barrett, Sam Coe, and Sarah Morgan and going to the Minor companions like Rosie Tannehill and Amelia Earhart, Every single companion in the game will be covered. One more advantage to the Adoring Fan, that is a practical benefit, is that he does not react negatively to anything you do. He is all-in on any criminal rampages or "bad" decisions you may do. Vasco is the only other one like this. So thats one other little cool thing about the Adoring Fan.
Agree totally. I view this as more of an issue companion wise though then a huge perk of adoring fan. But yeah Vasco I really love. And adoring fan is pretty cool in my book overall. But I totally get what your saying .
Adoring fan is slightly better than vasco bc you can equip him with spacesuits to increase carry capacity
Adoring Fan won me over as a character when he almost lost his mind when I had a bounty on me!
Have you used AF as a follower? I've mostly kept him as crew so far, just for the ridiculous PraiseMax 10k MEGA vibe he has. 😉

Andreja is S+ for me. Mostly when I run into a facility to shotgun a captain in the face, she's outside rounding up the mobs. Sarah just got stuck everywhere, as well as Vasco. Having Barrett on the ship controls is actual gold, and I use Vasco for perimeter defense while landed (And yes he was actually needed in that way a couple of times). Jin and Heller are on my outposts. These 6 companions are S tier imo.
I can see that myself. I do like Andreja a lot too. The biggest issue I find is how many companions have issues with the actions you take as well as the stealth bugs I’ve mentioned with any and all companions.
@@ThatAnxiousGamer Yeah speaking about bugs; I just lost about 60-80hrs on the Andreja questline. The quest bugged out, which made it so I can not interact with other characters until the quest is finished (which it can't). More so, I can not continue the main story line because someone NEEDS to tag along on a mission, which they can't because Andreja is stuck to me.
The only 2 options atm are: Either load back into a save to before getting the particular quest, which means losing A LOT! Or use console commands to force finish the quest, which I can't do because I'm on Xbox. A ticket to Bethesda support didn't help also.
@@kriseightyfive5854 holy crap dude I’m so sorry. I’ve learn this the hard way wayyyy back in morrowwind. I literally save like every 5 minutes now in any Bethesda game and make 50 backup saves because of just this. Think I had like 25+ hour save go corrupt and the pain is so real I can still feel it. So so sorry again….
@@kriseightyfive5854If you have a laptop, you might be able to stream the game on there through the xbox app and then edit your save.
@@ThatAnxiousGamer Yeah I'm no stranger to Bethesda games (I do love them), so I also save with every action taken. But going back to a save to right before picking up the particular quest, means basically starting over at this point.
You don't get Andreja late, you CHOOSE to get her late, it's PLAYER choice, I got her as the second human companion. You can do the 3 constellation companions in any order.

Agreed, as soon as the mission for speaking with Vladimir came up, I was like... hang on, russian sounding guy might point me towards the companion I've been meaning to track as quickly as I could. Nipped up the two artefacts and made Andreja my companion as soon as possible.
Sarah has a good place on my battlecruiser, but I fear she's not gonna see much action outside of that.
I enjoy running my playthrough with Sarah Morgan, I know she's really strict when it comes to morality options but she's the closest thing for me in the game that defines the "boring on the outside, actually great on the inside" kind of character
Sarah is a great character and I do like her the lot. Her downsides are exactly what you say, I feel she is very restraining to the player’s agency in the game world and only really works well with a total ‘good’ play-through. I definitely think stat wise she is a beast but overall I can’t love 💕 her, only like her.

Aetherionic fusion is probably one of the best early game shipcrew skills, its litterally free extra energy
Andreja honestly surprised me with her backstory and quests and I usually prefer her. She also is one of the few that rarely judges you like Sarah does.
I totally agree. That’s why I tend to prefer her much over Sarah especially personality wise. I want to feel accepted for my choices not judged constantly.
Andreja's story is the best. Also her bonus to EM weapons makes her very valuable against Terramorphs. Dude criminally under evaluated her.
She judged me hard when I went on a murder spree while undercover in the crimson fleet quest line and said she was getting off my ship so I kicked her off and grabbed my boo Jesamine Griffin she cheers me on and loves to do bad shit.
If you give her one of those va'run energy weapons, she slays. Also her voice actor is awesome.
@@StephenYuan Andreja's quest line is my favorite of all the companions so far. Also, her romance quest line hit me in the feels.
For those that want to play the game without your companion judging every little thing you do...Vasco and The Adorning fan are the only 2 that truly don't care what you do. Be good, be evil they'll stay without judgement.
100% agree, it shouldn’t be that way but they are the only 2 that seem to not care either way.
Amari is really good as a crew companion. He has 2 skills that are helpful on board. In my view he is the 4th best companion for crew, so worth picking up.
Actually with Andreja, I have to disagree if she has the Cameleon suite on and she has an assassin partical weapon she is the ultimate companion! When stealthing with the Cameleon suite it makes her invisible when not moving around, and if you both have the Cameleon suites u are both hidden.
Same. When it comes to stealth combat, with a silenced weapon at range, she has been great. She might not be stealthy enough for melee sneak attack, but she is great at staying hidden in ranged combat.

There's also a Sam Cole light named Ezekiel you can get at the other bar on Akila that I like quite a bit (as my Sam SPOILER). A few others: Andromeda Kepler, Betty Howser, Jessamine Griffin, Mathis Castillo (Jess and Mathis are great if you are RPing a pirate), and Moara Otero (Hadrian and Moara are great if you are RPing UC Vanguard). I'm sure there are more...

Talk to her in the Red Devils hideout after completing the terrormorph questline
Not sure if anyone has said it but if you finish the terrormorph questline, you unlock Hadrian Sanon as a companion which is another "main" companion.

I haven't used many of them in combat but so far I have noticed that Vasco is extremely lacking in gun fights, but on the other hand Sarah will absolutely MELT enemies, that is if her AI is feeling generous enough to attack
Found the same thing, but I still personally like Vasco better.
I gave Sarah an epic laser rifle, a frag grenade, and a +20 carry jump pack… and a good armor suit. then I romanced her into marriage. And she is both super sweet and deadly!
There is another companion that you can get for the mission you get from the lady store vendor in cydonia, if you save the pilot to that minor quest and let the mercs take the ship, you can recruit him, his stats are piloting 1star and payload 1star
In my experience sam, sarah and andreja are your go to followers they all have a +3 in relevant combat stats which offer really good automatic/burst fire options (rifle, laser,particle weapons respectivly) and I feel like the AI does best with rapid fire weapons, with semi-auto weapons they shoot very slowly, no matter the firerate. I also noticed that thier combat AI seems to differ a bit , Sam sticks to cover and tends to hang back a bit, Sarah tends to stick very close and (annoyingly) likes to body block for you, Andreja is very agressive, she gets in peoples faces, goes hunting down mobs and tries to flank alot. So I'd say they are very good with the right equipment (it took me WAY to long to figure out you can make them equip space suits). I like to hang back with a big sniper rifle so I like to take either Sam to give me cover with an assault rifle or Andreja with the Va'run pistol to hunt down straglers that huddle in cover. Also Barret is the nr. 1 pick for crew, he's no good in a fight but his repair skill and skill with the best ship weapon type (particle) make him extremly useful to have on bord.
I loved andreja's storyline, but her morality can be really frustrating sometimes. It's like looking at a broken compass that just spins around in random directions. Sometimes she will like that you're being assertive and rude, while other times she will dislike it for no reason even when the context of a conversation is very similar. This leads to frustration when you have to start quick saving before every single conversation with anyone because it becomes a reflex due to the amount of times you select a response choice thinking it will be the one Andreja will like, only to see "Andreja dislikes that". Other than that, her storyline and final mission + gift is really great and thought out well.
Barrett and Vasco seem like mainstays for my crew.

I hope the dlc will add more companions with unique pov on how they see the world. The problem here is the 4 mainline companions all have the same pov on situations.
They all disagree on using Aceles vs Terrormorphs, they agree on destroying the Lazarus plant & they opposes Ularu as CEO of Ryujin.
We have factions which is Constellation, CF, Freestar Ranger, Vanguard, SysDef & Ryujin. Hence, we need more mainline companions (excluding temporary companions) from these factions.
In Fallout 4, we have Paladin Danse (Brotherhood of Steel), X688 (Institute), Deacon (Railroad), Hancock (Goodneighbor), McReady, Piper etc..

One thing I like about the companions is that if there's a gun with ammo that drops that is better than their default or the one they're currently using, they'll move to loot and equip it.
Normally one would have to manually replace their default weapon and give them ammo, but the AI bethesda has for them lets them check bodies and the environment for an upgrade. A couple of different times I've caught Sam Coe with a new rifle or Andreja or Barrett with a Magshear or Magpulse that dropped from an enemy.
That has never happened for me in over 100 hours. But maybe that is because I have told them to equip a specific gun that I gave them, instead of leaving them with what they had.
Sarah chills out once she gets to Friend status and warms up a Lot once she gets to love. her married dialogues are great. Get past all the grinding of loot and resource mine outpost stages and you minimize her griping to those weekly runs where you craft everything for xp and then sell it off for credits. She's a sweetheart with a big front to get past.
I feel like she’s absolutely the intended first playthrough sweetheart. And I do like her a lot. The issue I have is she feels to restrictive to the player’s agency in the game in my opinion. For me it’s bros before Ho 😂 and go for Vasco!
True her back story is so sad I felt obligated to help fix her problems and clap the cheeks to boot lol
@@ThatAnxiousGamer lol, I do plan a play thru as MantMan and run Andrea as my sidekick. And another one as a spy/ninja type character. She is perfect next to any BH or spy/ninja type builds since the line crossing won’t raise her eyebrows. My 1st run I’ve been a cowboy,ran Sam during the Freestar time but Sarah otherwise, and it’s been good clean wholesome fun.
Next go, I’ll enjoy doing the dirty with Andrea… hehe.

One of my play throughs Barrett can use star power by duping himself so when it gets thick there is another Barrett fighting along
The real Amelia Earhart died tragically on the Christmas Islands. She found herself on the island for some unknown reason and saw that her leg was broken and bleeding. They found out that the giant coconut crabs ate her so she died horribly as these crabs can smell blood more than a mile away.

Yeah the stealth 🥷 system in game is a bit weird, i prefer doing stealth alone as I’ve noticed a lot of bugs when I bring companions along.
You also didn’t note that Sam comes with Cora, another person with a unique personality and quests, it just adds another reason to put him on your ship or as your main companion! Also there are some companions missing, Mathis Castillo from the Crimson Fleet quest line as well as Hadrian from the UC quest line!
Love this man! You missed one! When you finish the quest with the terrormorphs through the UC, you get the option to hav Hadrian as your companion at the end.

Vasco the robot is the BEST. He dosent like or dislike any action you do and hes a silent companion who lets you do your thing without interuption
Sarah Morgan is #1 because of her Leadership perk, meaning she doesn't count as a crew member so if you have a max of 4 crew member you can add her to make it 5.

I always look for the doctor to run with. In Skyrim I downloaded a healer for a companion. That’s because I used to be a combat medic and it has never left my memory. I still miss those days so my builds in Bethesda games revolve around a combat medic build.
When the adoring fan first appeared, it scared the crap out of me, guy came out of nowhere.
He does come out of the blue like a Jack in the Box 📦, it really can surprise you sometimes I know exactly what you mean 😂. If you played older games like the elder scrolls oblivion then he is a nice throwback and gets a nice smile out of you 😊😊
Andreja is #1 companion IMO.
Stealth isn't useless at all, and she has chameleon when she crouches, so she is the best companion for a sneaky experience.
I totally understand your prospective. She is obviously intended as the stealth option. Maybe it was just bugs on my side but near laugh she was spoiling stealth 🥷 over and over for me personally. Your mileage may vary.

@@ThatAnxiousGamer I don't mean to say that her stealth makes her.. actually stealthy, but it makes it so that you and she can get much closer to the enemy before she triggers them. This is helpful if you're both using supressed rifles and firing from a stationary crouch.
Going completely solo is still the only way to be able to get stealth melee kills, as far as I can tell.

I like the way Vasco stands guard outside your ship. Can be useful in the early game when you’re over encumbered and being chased back your ship.

I put Andreja even above "must get". Apart from her stealth, she is an explosives expert. She throws infinite grenades in a gunfight, and I like the combo of gunfighting (me) and explosions caused by her. Like ying and yang. Fits perfectly.
All the others could be good as outpost crew or ship crew (or not at all), but there is only one companion....😊

AndreJa is my ride or die chick. She reminds me of Drummer from the Expanse. I keep all those other guys with ship perks like Barret, stay on my ship.

Hire a random crew member. ANd dont take them on shady missions. I thought I was good on a stealth mission till my companion got shook and started spraying
It’s funny in this game everyone is a good guy who’s never stolen a thing it seems like. The first real thing that goes down they start acting 🎭 crazy like Mr. blonde in reservoir dogs…
If you join the crimsonnfleet, there's a lady at the bar called Jesamine Griffin(?)...she is amazing at sneaking and can easily hold her own. She also gives you 500 credits each time you come back from adventuring with her at your side.

Yeah, ‘Jessie’ is cool for her stealing as she wanders around and then gives you a pile of credits. I also like her Scottish accent and attitude.
She also fights alongside you and doesn't criticize you for stealing or killing. That is a good trait for bringing companions along.

Awesome... gonna save me time for sure... The game is standard Bethesda material for sure... feels very fallout 4ish in terms of combat, quests, dialog, mechanics and music, but just in space lol For me its definitely a perk. Lovin it so far
Me too! Thanks for dropping in your one of my biggest supporters! I agree for me it’s like 1 part fallout 3/ one part The Expanse, and one part Skyrim. It’s definitely not perfect but it’s immensely fun!
Vasco is great! Also Aneutronic Fusion (on the Vasco's skills) is not useless, it's the opposite of useless - it gives you +1 to your reactor power, that you can allocate into whichever ship's system you want. He also boost your shields, so as being a crew member assigned to your ship, he's pretty usefull.
Also, i don't know if it's a bug or a feature, but it seems like Vasco doesn't count towards your command limit. Or maybe it's Sarah's Leadership skill that gives +1 to crew command limit, maybe, idk.

Barrett also gets a buff in gunfights by unlocking his starborn power if you do his ng+ quest (and you also get a power upgrade).

i would rank Andreja higher because she seems to judge shady acts less harshly. also i love when she goes chameleon. if she's got a particle weapon she is lethal
Barret has an additional ability that you unlock later that makes him even more useful in battles, so i would choose him over Sam. plus "dusty, dusty, DUSTY"

Vasco is also nice if you land close to enemies he can defend the ship sometimes its like having 2 companions at once because you'll see him charge enemies while you and your companion are shooting at them
Sam is great and i use him a lot and this guy with the right weapons will take out half of the enemies before you even notice what he is attacking. There’s an urgent need to have more morally ambiguous companions in Starfield, for those who want to follow a darker, less ethical path. The Constellation team are all very ethical and aligned, which isn’t unrealistic, but at the same time they’re your main companions. I feel Andreja should be made much darker and happier with you taking piracy and other routes for profit.. would also then make her the dream wife lol.

asside from backstory the best companion Ive found is becky Howser, give her a grenade and bridger grenade launcher and watch her go, she even cusses her enemies as shes blowing them to hell, shes got demolitions 3 so shes a beast with a heavy weapon and a grenade.

Great breakdown on the video you did a really good job. Lol so when I first started playing the game I only did one main mission and had sarah Morgan up until like I was level 30 lol . I tried get rid of her earlier on and realized I had do a mission for her . But she ended up being a good partner . Lol Sarah didn’t like some of my actions because I steal a lot and I joined the crimson fleet . But personality wise I like andreaz . Sam koe is really good too .

Vasco is a great crew member, because he will be in the entrance of anywhere you land or dock to. So he can help in clearing areas, along with your actual companion. Companion wise i agree Sam, not much he dislikes.
I currently have Lin and Heller running my main outpost and most of the others on my ship (Ihave skilled up to allow 8 crew), but I still find myself doing a lot of the missions solo. Vasco is quite handy for enemies close to the ship as he stands in docking tubes or on the ground and will engage anything nearby. I haven't unlocked Amelia yet, might have to look into that.
Yeah, Vasco and Barrett were my first two assigned crew members. Vasco pulls triple duty: boosting your reactor, boosting your shields, and functioning as a ship sentry. Barrett boosts particle beam weapons, my favorite for their range and overall sustained DPS, and as a bit of an afterhought boosts system repair speeds should you find your early game Class A ship taking hull damage.
I love this video, but I do disagree about Omari. He has shield systems 3, which means he boosts your shields. You are right he's not a great companion, but having him as crew on your ship boosts your total shields by one power slot and frees up that slot to go to other systems. So hes a great choice for ship crew.

S. Morgan is good to keep in your crew early on as she allows less fuel to be used to jump I believe

I hope in the future we could romance the other characters as well. If not that, maybe even a mod
I actually thought of something better, a alien companion, like an animal companion like dogmeat.
There will definitely be a mod for that. I personally think only having 4 characters that can be romanced is really thin and I think 🤔 companions in general need to be expanded.
I was thinking about a dog but don’t think it would work as in Fallout 4 they can bite and hold enemies allowing you to shoot them but dogs would require space suits on some planets making them completely unable to attack
I found an npc that had a 6 legged alien companion, maybe something like that

Funny how you make a tierlist of EVERY companion/crew but you are missing at least like 10 of the named ones in the game. And even if they are far worse than any named ones, you still have the ones just named for their skills, who are still also potential companion/crew members. But great list for EVERY companion in the game, even if you don't even have half of EVERY companion.
Vasco doesn't take up a ship crew spot.. so he's forever a part of my ship... he also calls me captain boobies. So that's a win.
