    Golurk has also gotten a boost via Dynamax as well, and not just because it can finally act function as the Pokemon equivalent of Gridman (Giant mechs ftw). Golurk has always had access to Fly but could not really use it competitively because of the two turn charge and limited coverage Flying attacks have, but when Dynamaxed it will boost Golurk's speed while maintaining offensive pressure. The fact that Golurk also has access to powerful Fighting attacks means it can boost its attack stat too, and therefore Golurk has the potential to sweep unprepared teams. Nothing quite beats fighting kaiju with your own giant mud robot.

    That Poltergeist section made me remember how my boy Dragapult got completely robbed. Literally no fairy would run an item in OU if the king got his rightful stab. He would probably even be sent to Ubers because you just run Steel Wing as 4th move on choice band set for the said item less fairies, other two being darts and Uturn and kill everything regardless but then we would probably be seeing Item less steel types and then it has to hit that fire blast.....

      I agree with the statement that singles is hard to do in-game. They just had to make timer stalling possible, allow dynamax, and make you not be allowed to use your entire team(Doubles it makes sense because there's more offense due to being able to target 1 pokemon with 2 moves). Bring 6 pick 4 in doubles I can't really say anything about, but bring 6 pick 3 in singles means that you have to compress all the roles in a good team(Setter, defensive core, revenge killer, defog/rapid spin user, spin blocker(If you want), wallbreaker, physical attacker, special attacker, etc.

    Another use for Trick is using its other Ability Klutz, you can trick Assualt Vest from Klutz Golurk to a wall and your opponents wall would be crippled because Assualt Vest stops them from using status move. However, Golurk can still trick the Assualt Vest because Klutz ignores its item effect.

      @@UltraAryan10 I guess it depends on who you ask, but extra damage is definitely better than confusion in my opinion. @sleepy2947 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For golurk, you might have missed the move dynamic punch I think for a slow pokemon like golurk, the 20 power traded for no defence drops in great, also confusing the target. but sometimes this is not the best option, for example if you are running a wallbreaker and/or a trick room set. 252+ Atk Choice Band Golurk Dynamic Punch vs. 252 HP / 80 Def Ferrothorn: 258-304 (73.2 - 86.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery but with close combat, 252+ Atk Choice Band Golurk Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 80 Def Ferrothorn: 308-364 (87.5 - 103.4%) -- 25% chance to OHKO. Not a massive buff but the 25% chance to ohko probably matters, also with dynamic punch, you have to run no guard when with close combat you could run other moves that gets buffed by iron fist, overall i think its a pretty interesting situation, the move choice really depends on the situation and what team you are running. I just found it weird that you mentioned drain punch but not dynamic.

    • @foofootoo
      @foofootoo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great analysis! I am well aware of Dynamicpunch - I mention it towards the beginning of the video. It does mean that Close Combat is not as big a buff as some of the others. But on a Choice Band set where maximum damage output is the main goal, an extra 20% power boost can be the difference between an OHKO and missing out to get KO'd yourself. When you take Stealth Rock into account with the calculations you showed, that damage boost can be very important!

    Golurk is my favorite Gen 5 Pokemon and I even caught a Shiny Adamant one in my Sword playthrough! Highly underrated, I love it when Golurk gets recognition.
    Technically Iron Fist boosted Shadow Punch is stronger than Shadow Claw (60 × 1.2 = 72, 72 > 70) but it's by a miniscule amount and Iron Fist's only real benefit over No Guard is boosting Drain Punch and Ice Punch.

    • @foofootoo

      The tiering is based on usage - if something is not used enough it drops down a tier. But if that Pokemon is too strong for the tier below, the lower tier can ban the Pokemon. The Pokemon can still be used in the tier above, but technically it does not belong to the higher tier because it is not used enough
