I think these later works of hers were supposed to be based on Icelandic lore. I think. I’m not 100% on that. But I think I read that somewhere. And I think this might be what’s called a “visualizer” in the Internet age of music. It’s similar to a music video, but it’s more like a snippet of a music video to accompany the song if it’s being played from a playlist and there’s a video screen involved where it’s playing. So like for example you’re at the bar, and somebody plays this song on the digital jukebox. If you look over at the jukebox to see who’s playing, you might see worms going up Bjork’s nose. And you’ll think “Yep, typical Bjork.” When imagining Bjork, I think of her as a wholesome, funny little girl with a goofy sense of humor who’s forced by her music label to create visual’s to accompany her music. Therefore!!! Worms crawling out her nose and into her mouth.
I´m a big fan of hers but I know you need the "spread sheets" of lyrics if you are trying to understand what she's saying lol. That's why I always feel like I'm reading a fantasy romance novel or collection of short stories when listening to her albums! She has a surreal literary vein going on beneath the sounds she makes.
I'm a huge fan of Bjork. Since Early 90's. I will suggest, as I do to anyone interested in her Music, Have the lyrics on . Because she has a Scandinavian accent combined with her Unique vocal cadence that makes it tougher for the listener to fully understand & enjoy(or not )her works. I will explain the video in a second but highly recommend pulling up a lyric video if you get more requests for her , in the future. Now , Onto the video. It explores the idea /theme, of the contrast/paradox between who we are & how we present ourselves. Basically if we were 💯 authentically ourselves (no facades/ no egos) we could create a better place /paradise. The liquid is basically a symbol of all her emotions that swirl around in her head. Björk is very avant-garde alternative experimental and unique... for me, she is way too experimental. I loved her music thirty years ago... maybe I was too young and influenceable then. Maybe. :)
