Class looking motor Bob, in a class colour and better looking than Audis,Bmws and Golfs! No range anxiety here in diesel spec. All the car you will ever need!
Thanks Bob for presenting us this car, it looks and ticks the right boxes color is nice too I wouldn't bother. Looking forward seeing estate version. Thanks again.
3:27 This is the five door version of it…….Bob I’m surprised you said that as it doesn’t come in three door…..this is basic stuff that a reviewer should know!!
As the Beetles sang, Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away,... We need cars in this class to be available at all-electric form, at prices we can afford. At a time when Tesla are announcing competitive European prices for the Model Y (some in Spain saying it is now cheaper there than a Model 3) this is a missed opportunity for Opel/Stellantis. Minister Ryan: Drop the VRT rate on all-electric cars.
@@smashyrashy No, I still drive a diesel. I just think that if the various environmental targets are to be met, large manufacturers including Opel should be offering an all-electric option by now. Given my driving needs, an EV would meet my needs and last year, 40% of all electricity put on the grid was generated by renewable sources. My daughter now drives an EV and her electricity costs for it over the last 2 months was €72.
One advantage of a diesel that is never mentioned is that if you have a garage or a bit of land you can buy a say 2000 ltr tank, bung it up on blocks etc (Gravity feeding the fuel to your car) and buy your diesel in bulk, obviously it will cost a fair chunk buy, it is cheaper than buying it from a fuel station. So if there is a fuel shortage etc, you are not effected, not sure of the price at the moment but when fuel was around 1.39 I think my late mum bought a some 1500 ltrs for just over £1 a liter. Her tank was in the garage.
There is still some edge cases for a diesel. If you don’t have access to off street parking and do a huge amount of miles a year it might make sense. But I can’t see much else. I’m still hanging on to my focus diesel until a suitable EV (like an ID3 but with decent interior and software) comes to market.
I drove what was then the new astra (it was a 'mobility' car) when I worked I a residential care home, some 5 years ago, really disliked it, main reason was the thick pillers either side of the windscreen, they really reduced visibility. I even preferred driving the vauxhall zafira to it, which really said something. Both are based on the same platform, so not sure why it did not seem as bad, (maybe it is my memory after some 5 plus years that is at fault).
I would have been at the front of the que for this in 2017. The MG 4 seems like the future proof choice form my money now. A wait for an electric car seems like a smarter move right now
My ID3 has been on order since September last year, should the option for an MG 4 come along before the ID3 arrives in the factory then I'll be "considering my options" - the MG is a fine looking proposal now!
@@talkandplay for the Astra full EV it could be wait a year for the launch and price, wait another year on a list with a dealer for the car. I had an MG4 test drive this week. It put thoughts of other cars out of my mind. I would have forgotten an Astra was coming if you hadn't messages me. Message me again when Astra EV's are on UK roads. I may be able to tell you what years of driving something else was like.
Saw the C4 dispatches programme today . truth about EV's where plugin hybrids tested where polluting significantly more than diesels. ..i do 16/17K miles a year so borderline diesel perhaps..the Astra diesel (AUTO) has gone on my shortlist as waiting time with modifications is 20 weeks..not bad in todays climate. Plugin astras are 42 weeks plus lead time. ( UK ) The vulcan grey looks a great colour or the tri coat blue.

Love the look of this car great review I would be looking at the diesel or petrol I think electric sales will decrease as one of the utility company's predicts electric more expensive than fuel in October so will electric cars costlier to run I think hybrid the answer going to be lots of fully electric unsold

Seems like a decent motor, I really like the new shape, and the colour wouldn't bother me , and Opel a very good diesel engine and the fact that you 1.100 kms is why I would still buy a diesel over all other types for another 5 years yet , when they get am EV with 1000 kms range then you will see a big move to EVs but until then I will stick with diesel ⛽️ 😉 .
No matter how god a car is, how nice it drives, how nice it looks... I just would not invest so much money in a Diesel that will have little or no trade in value in 5 years.
You never comment on a comment, however this car is quite nice, and Diesel perfect get rid of E.V. you said it your self they are a disaster.....charging points are so rear like hens teeth.
Another sad product from a company which has completely lost it’s way - one last chance for redemption under new French owners. There is a very wide range of much more attractive alternatives from virtually every other brand.
Shows how much you know. First of all Leo Varadkar is not the President Micheal D Higgins is. Leo is the current Tainiste. The diesel would be my choice I have to say. I appreciate not everybody does motorway miles like me but it'd be my choice I have to say as the petrol, electric and phev would be about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike for me. Electric is hideously overpriced to buy and insure.

Indeed zero range anxiety ...a lot to be said for that.
This car needs a 200+ hp drivetrain, no hybrid.
There's always room for a diesel
Totally agree, diesel all the way.
I'm buying a petrol as electric is too early, great looking car
