Love this era of Orbital. My earliest recognition of them was from the Norwich Sound City 92 gig where they played alongside The Prodigy, The Shamen & N,Joi. Hooked. Seen them lots of times over the years, but not as many as would have like to due to lifestyle, family commitments & funds. Manchester, London, Hull & Gateshead in recent times have been truly amazing ❤️❤️❤️
I was there too :))))) they had two kind of Easter island heads in stage with lasers coming out of the mouths. I was but a young teenager but it changed my musical life :)))))

Do I not like this? My first live experience was the 94 Glastonbury set, life changer, but wish I'd been at some of the earlier ones. My goosebumps have goosepimples.

You do hear a lot of development from the previous year. For myself as a techno lover at the start of the 90s, especially stuff on Underground Resistance and Warp, Orbital stood out for their use of breakbeats rather than straightforward 'N TS N TS N TS N TS' all the way th e through a track. Whilst their sound has further developed hugely, this is undeniably Orbital and to my ears does not sound dated at all.
Really loving the rawer mix on this stuff - making me think about these songs in a slightly different light. The lack of compression and reverb is really jarring in a good way.
You wouldn't happen to have a recording of the NASA See The Light gig in San Francisco on Nov 14th, 1993, would ya? Because you and Aphex Twin changed my life forever that night. Would be absolutely amazing to hear anything from that tour, really. Edit: It was Nov 14th, not Nov 3rd. Thanks Clifford ;)
@@recsund :) I have my flyer, the cassette that was given away at the shows (two of them actually, I have my ex-gf's too lol) and I've had that Aphex Twin set forever. There was an unreleased song (1.5 Dp5 Beats) in it for decades but Rich included the studio recording in his soundcloud dump. I had Orbital's albums and singles released up to that point, as well. Orbital was mostly why we went that night, them and Jeno, actually. I was blown away by how great they were live and in my memories their set that night was spectacular. Good enough that I've never missed a chance to see them since. I really just want to know if it was as good as I remember. That whole night was really great, though. Was not what one would at all consider sober by the time Aphex Twin went on and Rich twisted my synapse, to be sure. Totally thought it was Nov 3rd, though. haha Oops
@@recsund Completely agree with whoever posted on that site though. Seeing parts of the night from the various levels of the venue (again, not real sober) was an added bonus to the festivities. And hearing Gravitational Arch of 10 for the first time was special. Young America Primitive was great, too. We watched his set from an upper level, looking down, and he played live percussion sounds on his synth. It was confusing. lol The only letdown of the night, weirdly, was Moby. He played guitar for sure... and maybe bass?... and a lot of people were like, "nope", and left the venue. Orbital and Aphex Twin were the stars of the night for the people I went with, the people I knew who also attended and everyone I've talked to about it since.
