    Cheers to writing a journal/diary! I have about 35-40 books of varying sizes filled with entries, going back about 14 years. Although the last 9 years have the most consistent amount of entries. I have been planning to mine them for writing. It is a great resource to have, it's crazy the amount of small stuff you forget about.

      Journals and Diaries are excellent wells from which creative writing ✍ can flow. I once took a Writing Workshop on how to utilize one's personal Journals as the starting point for writing pieces of other forms, such as essays, poetry, and novels.

    Being in touch with your inner self is the best thing you can do for yourself. There's so much hidden deep in the recesses of your mind that ends up being more useful for your self-disovery than you could possibly imagine

    The fact that you were able to describe the events of a flat tire in such a beautiful way is amazing to me. You make something so mundane sound so interesting, it just blows my mind.

    It's only now that I actually understand how useful a diary entry can be and add on more absurd value to a story, reminded me a lot of Camus' story telling and description methods. Great!

    I try to write fiction every day, but I don’t know if I could write about myself every day. Within just a few days, my writing would become very repetitive. It would basically be me complaining about how I’m depressed, poor, and lonely. However, I do make weekly videos about my writing process. I love talking about writing, but I hate talking about my personal life, even to myself.

    • @user-fy9fr3bc7v
      @user-fy9fr3bc7v 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I emphasise with a lot of that. Do you think of your fiction as 'personal'? What kind of relationship do you see between the writing and the reality? I often find this a limiting question to be asked, but I'm asking it anyway lol

    • @batman5224
      @batman5224 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@user-fy9fr3bc7v It’s very complicated. Overall, I view fiction writing as an escape from reality. However, I also instill parts of myself into my work, usually on a subconscious level. Sometimes, we can more easily express ourselves through fiction.

    • @cacciatore_5320
      @cacciatore_5320 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      maybe you could focus on small things ? like, try and write about something you observed instead of writing about yourself. i usually find it easier to write about a small detail, and it might help you romanticise those tiny things. it’s just a thought of course ! :)

    • @igorwhite6223
      @igorwhite6223 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think it's super cool how we each have our own experiences and how it affects us!! For example, you enjoy writing fiction because you create another universe and anything is possible, I love reading fiction but i cant write it for shittt, but whenever i pick my little notebook up, all I write about are my day to day experiences, my views on them, what I learned, little observations and it's the biggest stress relief for me

    Firstly, I love your channel and respect the effort you put into making your videos! The only thing I disagree with you on here is that you need to be at your desk to capture a great story. Personally, I have found that all of my most interesting entries have been written somewhere quite obscure where the environment seeps through into the writing. Maybe next time you get a flat tyre you should journal your way home when caught in the grip of the feeling.

    This video made me think, I’m behind in English because of high school. I basically missed 11th and 12th grade English due to the type of school I transferred to. I failed English 001 twice. If I were to learn basic HS composition for writing essays and such I could feel confident taking English 001 again. Where would be a good starting point to be an adult self teaching how to write basic stuff again?
