    The challenge is........ do mix with no efx, no reverb, no delay and very like compression. It's great exercise to really learn how to mix.

    • @MakePopMusic
      @MakePopMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Why would I do that if the song benefits from those things in the mix? Haha sure, I can set basic levels and panning and volume automation, but that’s so boring and one dimensional.
      It’s legitimately a pointless exercise because that’s not how someone would actually mix a record.
      Professionals don’t limit their tools, they just use what the song needs. Nothing less, nothing more 😁

    • @Russplight
      @Russplight ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MakePopMusic I take you didn't understand my reasoning for the request. Obviously, mixing professionally is getting the song to a place where it reaches the song's full potential. Most modern popular music today is overcooked in efx, and no one teaches up and coming young engineers how to creatively mix without masking the core of the song with reverbs, delays and excessive saturation. I don't get into the "Professional" or "Beginner" labels because I'm sure if you had a chance to mix the next Bruno Mars hit song, the song would be just as successful as if one of the "Top Industry Professional Mixers" mixed it. The end listen only hears one mix - the final mix. Any "professional mixer" will tell you - it's about finding the groove and a good place for the song to live with volume automation, panning and overall balance. The efx are the icing on the cake. Give it a shot and you'll see how hard it really is. I really enjoy your channel man!

Just one question: I noticed you are not using the oversampling feature on your Pro L2; is that not always needed, and how to tell when I should use it? Thanks!

    • @MakePopMusic
