      Been to a few of Brian's talk-ins and exhibitions, but I could still listen to him all day. And yes, I have some of his works in my man cave! (reference to lock-down comments recently)

    As an oasis nut…these videos are like finding tenners in your jean pockets. Such brilliant, original and interesting content that given liam and Noel are such alpha dogs are unlikely to
    ever tell by writing a book or something. Thanks James.

    Superb video thanks James. Why didn’t Brian do the 00s era sleeves - was there a fall out? Them were shite without Brian. Those 90s singles were quality products visually and musically. Cheers

    Fun fact the cover of the D’ya Know What I Mean was taken about a mile and half down the road from me. Not much of a surprise given Brian’s a Wiganer.
    Was funny the first time I discovered it. I was on a bus stuck in traffic just looking out of the window and I was like I know that staircase!

    • @mrkipling2201

      The video for that song was filmed at Beckton gasworks, East London. My mate lived very near there and he said he saw part of the filming. I think he said the police turned up to see what was going on!!

  • @BeerLover25
    @BeerLover25 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    This is great. I used to look at the covers of these singles, with no knowledge as a young guy of 18 at the time and wonder what the fuck they were all about. 25 years later someone else about the same age somehow speaks to the guy who designed them and here I am sitting watching it. What a nice guy he is and clearly very proud of his work. And so he should be. Great that he’s shared the ideas and inspiration behind them, I really liked the inspiration for the All Around The World cover and most of us would probably never know how that came about, until now. Nice one man.

    Brilliant video again James! I actually joined Brian's channel a few months ago when I watched the logo video - he is a great guy and a genius I think - some of the subtle changes that were made to the logo were great and really made a difference. Great to hear his insight into the later covers and find out all the gems of locations, actors and Easter eggs present in those covers...
    PS make sure you look out my email sent yesterday (18th) because there is some news in it that is timely and you'll possibly be interested in sharing here and Facebook...

      @@JamesHargreavesGuitar Yeah, it's great to make these connections with the people in the know and then you get the real stories rather than the fake ones and it raises your profile in the Oasis community, opening more doors too... I've heard that debunked story about Noel and Liam turning up too late to be on the front cover of WTSMG album several times...

    • @mrkipling2201
      @mrkipling2201 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love the little touches on the album and single covers that Brian did. Like Owen Morris holding up the record on the cover of the Morning Glory album. Or Brian's Dad pushing the wheelbarrow on the cover of the Some Might Say single cover.

    Ironic that the inspiration for the don’t look back in anger cover is the Beatles love for their drummer after they’d just sacked tony

    Very interesting, thanks! Although not released in UK, did Mr Cannon have any info on the Champagne Supernova and Don't Go Away singles artwork?
    Also pleasantly surprised about the 'Whatever' artwork as I have the CD and I'm from Sheffield.

    I thought all of them were photo-shopped and digitally created. Surprised that they actually went to a beach or went anywhere for the shots. None of the single covers looked in any way connected to the song anyway.

    I THINK AN ALBUM SLEEVE CAN MAKE AN ALBUM, BRIANS COVERS ARE REALLY ICONIC PHOTOS, WHEN YOU SEE A BRIAN CANNON DESIGN, YOU KNOW IT'S HIS. LIKE U2 EDGES SOUND, IT'S NOONE ELSE. HIS COVERS ARE MORE LEGENDARY THAN THE MUSIC WITHIN. OASIS SLEEVES HAD A LOOK TO THEM, LIKE THE SMITHS. YOU KNOW WHO IT IS.

    What a great video. As a fan, I love the stories behind the sleeve covers. I'm also from Wigan. I remember the D'you Know What I Mean cover was off Darlington St. East. The building the preacher was in is no longer there but the steps behind are called the Blind Steps. Bit of useless info there.
    Really enjoyed this vid so, again, thankyou 👍
