  • Vintage Black & Decker B1600 bread machine from a thrift store had a non working motor that operates the mixing paddle. The culprit was a bad triac NEC AC03D on the control board. It has been replaced with new BT138 - a 600V 16A sensitive gate triac.
The repair was followed by a bake test, linked as [Part 2/2] in the next video:

Link to a brief history of automatic bread making machines:
    tastecooking.c...
An automatic one-stop machine for baking bread was first manufactured in Japan, in 1986, by Matsushita Electric, now Panasonic. The machine’s popularity spread, making its way into American kitchens throughout the 1990's, with sales projected to exceed 1 million by the end of 1992.
In 1993, the price dropped to $200, which led to over 3 million machines sold. By 1999, one in five American households owned a bread machine. But in 2017, nearly two decades later, bread machines are basically nonexistent.

Same model, same apparent failure. I am sure it will work fine when I change this component. Thanks.

Very good video, but unfortunately I didn't see how to remove the part of the control panel, how should I disassemble it?

When you go to 5:31 you can see very briefly a shiny Phillips #2 head screw in the center of the board. At 6:17 you can see w hole in the center of the board where the screw was removed. The board comes off when you remove that one screw.

I have the same machine. Still works fine. Should the motor and gear shaft be oiled?
    Thank you

I don't think they need to be oiled or greased. I've seen one (a different brand) with the kneading paddle bearing seized that required re-greasing with h. temp. grease. But, in my personal opinion, if it works - don't fix it.

I would look up the manual. If you paste in google "black decker b1600 bread maker manual" it will be the top result. Good luck!
